Bantamweight Kalisha West (6-0) of Moreno Valley, CA, faced Elizabeth Cervantes (1-7) from nearby Palmdale on March 30, 2007 and picked up another win to add to her undefeated record.

Both ladies threw some huge shots through all four rounds, but West wound up getting the best of the exchanges. She was able to keep her overmatched opponent against the ropes and hammer her with one-two combinations and lead rights.

West won the unanimous decision with scores of 40-36 across the board.

Kay’s father and trainer Juan West and Manny Rabago are working together on getting the 19-year-old rising star more fights. Rabago maintains Kay is a very talented young fighter.

“She has a lot of heart in and out of the ring,” said Rabago. “We do have a few opponents that we would like her to fight. This year we’d like to see her go in against Carley Batey, Beth Westover, and Heather Donoho, but Donoho won’t fight her. Back in the amateurs she wanted to fight Kay but it never happened. Now as professionals we would like to see it. This fight will be one of the best fights possible.”
