UFC 77 BRINGS OUT THE FAITHFUL FANS

The latter part of 2008 has seen two paths being taken in the world of hand to hand combat. The first is the potential resurgence of boxing with the likes of Kelly Pavlick and John Duddy at the top. The second is the ever growing popularity of MMA and more importantly UFC. Tonight was no different. In front of a pack house at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. UFC 77 brought cheers from the faithful following of MMA enthusiasts.
Anderson Silva successfully defended his middleweight title stopping Rich Franklin at 1:07 of the second round in the main event of UFC 77. Big John McCarthy to halt the contest at the bout at 1:07 of the round.
In the heavyweight co feature Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia handed rising star Brandon “The Truth” Vera his first loss via a three round unanimous decision. Scores read 29-28, 29-27 and 29-28.
Lightweight Alvin Robinson earned his first UFC victory by beating Jorge Gurgel in front of Scores read 29-28 and 29-27 twice.
Light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar stopped Eric Schafer at 2:47 of the second round.
Alan Belcher was victorious over Kalib Starnes due to a cut over the right eye. The ringside physician stopped at 1:39 of the second round.
Middleweight Yushin Okami won a three round decision over Jason Macdonald with all three scorecards reading 30-27.
Demian Maia won by submission over Ryan Jensen at 2:40 of the first round.
Welterweight Josh Burkman won a split decision over Forrest Petz. All three judges saw it the same at scorecards read 29-28.
Lightweight Matt Gricewon a decision over Jason Black. Scores were not announced.
