The UFC’s sister organization, World Extreme Cagefighting, will return on December 12th for its first show in more than three months. The stacked card is rumored to include:
WEC Featherweight Championship: Urijah Faber vs. Jeff Curran
WEC Light Heavyweight Championship: Doug Marshall vs. Ariel Gandulla
WEC Middleweight Championship: Paulo Filho vs. TBD (possibly Frank Trigg)
WEC Lightweight Championship: Rob McCullough vs. Alex Karalexis
Jens Pulver vs. Cub Swanson
*Popular MMA brand Tapout has signed a deal with the Creative Artists Agency to further extend their brand.
*Early reports suggest that M-1, the promotion that signed Fedor Emelianenko, is in talks to air on ESPN and could put on its first show in February in Chicago. UFC veteran Jeff Monson is rumored to be a possible opponent for Emelianenko’s debut.
*The UFC’s PPV bonus scale has gone public:
100,000 – 175,000 buys – $1 per buy
175,000 – 300,000 buys – $1.50 per buy
300,000 – 330,000 buys – $2 per buy
330,000 – plus buys – $3 per buy
*Randy Couture will make a guest appearance tomorrow night on “The Unit”. The show will air at 9pm on CBS.
*UFC veteran Sean Salmon is expected to face Jason “Mayhem” Miller on the next HDNet Fights card in December.
*Paulo Filho and Thiago Silva have both joined Team Link which includes top UFC heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga.
*Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, Rich Franklin, and Matt Hughes are no longer associated with Xyience.
*UFC veteran Elvis Sinosic has been added to the Cage Rage 24 fight card.
*Sean Sherk, Kazuhiro Nakamura, and Phil Baroni will all have steroid hearings on Wednesday in front of the California State Athletic Commission. Sherk’s hearing is especially important as the result will determine who BJ Penn will face for the lightweight title in December at UFC 79.
