Super Six World Boxing Classic Cup

NEW YORK (March 24, 2010)–-Renowned sports handicapper Danny Sheridan has set the odds for Group Stage 2 of the Super Six World Boxing Classic, the groundbreaking six-fighter tournament from SHOWTIME Sports®. Sheridan also updated the odds against winning the entire tournament with newly crowned WBA world champion Andre Ward as a 1 to 1 favorite.

Sheridan, USA Today’s sports analyst, has undefeated former middleweight champion and current tournament points leader Arthur Abraham as a 2:1 favorite over American Andre Dirrell when the two square off in the first Group Stage 2 matchup on Saturday, March 27, live on SHOWTIME at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. Sheridan lists the fight as an 8:5 favorite to go more than 11 ½ rounds.

Sheridan has former WBA super middleweight champ Mikkel Kessler of Denmark as a 3:2 favorite over undefeated WBC champ Carl Froch of England. Kessler, who is coming off an upset loss to American Andre Ward and currently has zero points in the tournament, will take on Froch in Herning, Denmark on April 24. The fight is listed as a 6:5 favorite to go less than 11 ½ rounds.

Ward, the newly minted WBA champion and U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist is a clear 6:1 favorite over Allan Green. Green is coming into the tournament with zero points as the replacement for Jermain Taylor who suffered a devastating knockout loss to Abraham in Group Stage 1. Ward is currently tied with Froch for second place with two points.

Overall, Sheridan lists the odds against winning the Super Six World Boxing Classic, a five fight endeavor for the eventual winner, as follows:

Ward 1:1
Abraham 8:5
Froch 4:1
Kessler 7:1
Dirrell 15:1
Green 50:1
