SATURDAY 29TH MAY – SENI2010 – EXCEL LONDON

Tommy Caruthers- Functional Jeet Kune Do Saturday 29th May 11am
Tommy Carruthers has over 30 years experience in the martial arts which includes training in military self-defence techniques (taught to him by his father), Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, Karate, boxing, Ving Tsun , Non-Classical Gung Fu and finally Jeet Kune Do. Over the years, Tommy Carruthers has acquired a reputation as being a very practical martial artist whose grueling training schedules alone would put most other athletes (from any sporting background) to shame.

Krishna Godhania- Sayoc Kali Saturday 29th May 12pm
Krishna Godhania has more than twenty-seven years’ experience of the martial arts, and has spent the past eighteen years studying Eskrima in the Philippines. He has an international reputation for being one of the leading teachers of the Filipino martial arts, conducts seminars in many countries, and is the Eskrima technical editor and columnist for Martial Arts Illustrated magazine. Krishna currently heads the Institute of Filipino Martial Arts, an organization dedicated to the propagation and promotion of Eskrima-Kali-Arnis. Eskrima, which is also known as Arnis [De Mano] or Kali, is the indigenous martial art of the Philippine Islands.. Well known and respected as a highly practical weapons-based system, Eskrima is practiced worldwide by civilians, law enf! orcement personnel and special units within the military. Eskrima uses training weapons [rattan sticks and daggers] from the earliest stages, alongside purely unarmed techniques. These training methods have been found particularly effective at increasing co-ordination and reflexes, providing a fast tract to developing the qualities needed for practical self-defence.

Mick Coup – C2 Combatives Saturday 29th May 1pm
With an extensive and varied background in a multitude of fighting systems, active military service and specialist security operations, Mick Coup provides expert and comprehensive tuition in personal protection, safety and security based only on reality and empirical knowledge.
Mick has a reputation for telling it as it really is, not just how many want it to be – often controversial, but backed by a wealth of ‘in harm’s way’ high-stakes experience, uncompromising and hard earned at the sharp edge, not just tested but proven beyond doubt – time and time again. Joe Carslake-Aiki Ju Jutsu Saturday 29th May 2pm
Joe Carslake is a frequent guest at the SENI Show with well over 50 years on the mat, his level of knowledge and skill never ceases to amaze.
A busy instructor, internationally recognised and based in Dublin Ireland, Joe seems to always find time to come and teach seminars in his own individual and memorable fashion. Most people attending a Joe Carslake seminar make a point of attending another, his teaching and style is addictive to say the least.
Joe’s knowledge is vast and you never know what he is likely to teach next, he has so much to choose from. Joe’s seminars in England are usually fully booked so this is a chance to train with someone with vast experience over the weekend. “Although many have claimed the title, Carslake’s tak! e on pressure points would firmly put him in my opinion as the Number One exponent of this art in Europe” Anthony Pillage

Gavin Mulholland & Dennis Jones- Impact Training for the Street Saturday 29th May 3pm
Gavin has traveled extensively throughout Asia experiencing a wide diversity of Martial arts. However, as an holistic fighting art, Goju already incorporates elements from virtually every other fighting system and Gavin has remained within the Goju framework.?Gavin spent many years on the door and was a regular instructor for Meido Ltd, a company specialising in door supervisor, security and close protection. He has made TV and film appearances, published regular articles and wrote the highly acclaimed Four Shades of Black. He is Chief Instructor of Daigaku Karate Kai alongside Sensei Dan Lewis of Bristol Combat Goju Ryu and is also a regular on the UK MMA scene with his team DKK Fighters who compete successfu! lly in Cage Rage, Ultimate Challenge, and BAMMA. One student even made it as far as the UFC.
Dennis Jones also known as the “Samurai on the Door ” during his long running stint as a Martial Arts Illustrated columnist will be teaching his street fighting techniques perfected during his 27 yr career as a doorman in some of England’s toughest towns. Dennis’s background came from many years classical study of Kyokushinkai karate and tai chi as well as training with a host of professional wrestlers, making him one of the earliest practitioners of what we would now class as MMA.

Anthony Pillage-Pressure Points Saturday 29th May 4pm (FULL)
Anthony is the founder of The Way of the Spiritual Warrior Martial Arts group based in Coventry. Over the past few years he has been honoured by Grandmaster Richard Bustillo by being inaugurated into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame, been the SENI Show Fighting Spirit Award Winner, awarded the World of Martial Arts TV personality of the Year presented by Royce Gracie, written a best selling self help book and won the UK’s Club Coach of the Year. The workshop is aimed to show exactly how pressure points can be applied in a street based confrontation and hopefully to dispel the myths surrounding this branch of the Arts. Anthony is rapidly becoming one of the most sought out pressure point instructors in the UK. This workshop was fully booked within weeks, ! hence the unprecedented second workshop on Sunday at 12.00pm.

Samuel Kwok Wing Chun Saturday 29th May

Samuel Kwok is the most senior representative of Ip Man Wing Chun. He has schools all over the world in more than 15 countries and has the honour of inheriting the original knives of Ip Man along with the three oldest journals of Wing Chun which were passed from Leung Jan to Leung Bik to Ip Man, Ip Ching and now with Samuel Kwok. This makes Samuel Kwok the true heir to the Ip family Wing Chun as no other can boast this fact. He will be displaying the books and the knives for all to see at Seni on stand 1252. He has written best selling books on Wing Chun and produced many dvd’s on the art as well as appearing in many magazine articles. He has also been recently added to the Martial Arts Hall of fame for his contribution to martial arts and will soon be appearing in a t.v series discussing the effects of Wu Shu.

Al Peasland & Mick Tully- Complete Self Protection Sunday 30th May 11am
CSP (Complete Self Protection) was founded by Al Peasland to bring a new dimension to the world of Martial Arts and Self Defence. Anthony Pillage & Joe Carslake- Pressure Point K.O.’s Sunday 30th May 3pm

Recreating the sell out SENI Show seminar of 2008, Carslake Hanshi and Anthony Pillage will be teaching a series of pressure point knock outs applicable for students of any style to use in street based confrontations. Both Pillage and Carslake have featured and written articles for a host of high profile martial arts magazines both in the UK and overseas.

Matt Tucker- Dog Brothers Sunday 30th May 1pm
Matt has been training in martial arts for over 20 years. As a teenager he started with Judo and then moved on to WTF Taekwondo which he continued for some years. In 1992 Matt stumbled across Wing Chun Kung Fu and trained for over 15 years under the direction of Master James Sinclair of the UK Wing Chun Association, opening his own branches in 2002. Matt always had a fascination with any style of martial art and began attending different seminars around the country. It was on one of these seminars that Matt heard about a group of martial artists known as the Dog Brothers who were based in Hermosa Beach California. This group practiced a style of full contact stick fighting with no protection other than a thin fencing mask and street hockey gloves. Matt res! earched these urban warriors and started training with DVD’s at home. Matt eventually made it out to California to train with Guru Marc ‘Crafty Dog’ Denny where for Matt, a new adventure began..

Eddie Quinn- The Approach Sunday 30th May 2pm
The founder and head trainer at Team Approach Solihull is Eddie Quinn, Eddie has been involved in Martial arts for nearly 25 years, and has been training in Muay Thai since 1990. Eddie nearly lost his life after an incident in Birmingham when he was 18 and was attacked and stabbed 6 times, his heart, liver, gall bladder, and lungs were all punctured in the attack. Any form of self defence has to be able to fill space, the way THE APPROACH does this is basically in a primal, heavy hitting way, “it reminds me of a cross between getting hit by a combination of a pick axe handle then getting thrown into the propellers of an aircraft, it hits and destroys everything that falls into its path.”

Stewart McGill & Leo Negao- Urban Krav Maga Sunday 30th May 3pm
Urban Krav Maga is a potent admixture reflecting years of experience in various styles of Krav Maga, Karate, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai and MMA. Chief Instructor Stewart McGill and Leo Negao, 4-time world BJJ champion and training partner of Antonio Noguiera and Anderson Silva, will run their stand and workshops at SENI 2010. Stewart and Leo worked together to create Urban Krav Maga as an integrated system incorporating the best techniques and methods from the fighting systems in which they have worked. Urban Krav Maga is comprehensive: covering stand up hand-to hand fighting, ground-fighting, defences against knives, gun threats, stick attacks etc. The system focuses on the actual attacks, which occur on the streets and! aggressive fighting techniques; it is probably best known for its advanced anti-knife work and ground fighting.

Grandmaster Danny Guba- Defence Against The knife Sunday 30th May 4pm
Grandmaster Danny has trained constantly since 1964 and was promoted to head instructor in the Doce Pares Headquarters in Cebu, Philippines. From there he became Grandmaster Cacoy’s personal sparring partner in the Corto (Close Quarters).In 1996 Grandmaster Danny Guba decided to leave the Philippines and moved to the United Kingdom where he now lives in the city of London. He spoke broken English and was an alien in the British culture but the UK based Filipino Martial Art community helped him to integrate himself. Supreme Grandmaster Dionisio ‘Diony’ Canete appointed GM Guba as the Director of Doce Pares ‘Original Multi-Style’ System in Europe, charging him with promoting this beautiful art.

Brian Desir – Wing Chun Sunday 30th May 5pm

Originally a boxing student, Brian discovered Wing Chun whilst studying under Master Goh. In 1989, Brian met Samuel Kwok and Grandmaster Yip Chun. The system taught by Master Kwok was somewhat different from that of Master Goh and Brian began learning the entire system again.

From Master Goh, Brian had gained his strength and fighting ability as well as learning how to use many weapons. Sifu Kwok taught Brian the finer points of the system in its traditional form as taught by the late Great Grandmaster Yip Man (teacher of Bruce Lee).

Since then, Brian has traveled all over the Far East studying many other martial arts styles to increase his knowledge of the martial arts. The arts Sifu Brian has studied include Chinese Boxing, Iaido (Japanese Way of the Sw! ord), Mogendo Boxing and Thai Boxing, which he studied in Bangkok.
