June 3, San Francisco – From the first time he put on a pair of boxing gloves at age 9, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero always dreamed of becoming a world champion. Guerrero fulfilled that dream (and more) by becoming a three-time world champion in two weight divisions, but the road to the top wasn’t so smooth. Contract disputes, fighting opponents who tested positive for steroids and traveling overseas to do battle with champions in their own country were some of the difficult challenges Guerrero had to endure. Yet these obstacles were nothing compared to his wife’s ongoing fight with cancer. In November of 2007, Guerrero’s world was shattered when he got news that his wife Casey was diagnosed with Leukemia.

Guerrero, a true warrior, would continue fighting at the highest level, winning two world titles during this difficult time. In January of 2010, Casey needed a bone marrow transplant in order to help her overcome the disease. That March, Guerrero turned down a shot at a world title (and his biggest payday) to be by his wife’s side, a decision that inspired everyone who heard his story. Miraculously, Leukemia cells are now absent from Casey’s body after receiving bone marrow from a donor in Europe.

Robert’s struggles and triumphs are chronicled in Andrew Johnston’s upcoming documentary, “The Ghost.” Take an inside look at Robert’s journey to become the best fighter, husband and father. Team Guerrero invites everyone to take a look at “The Ghost” Guerrero documentary trailer, a visually engaging and heartfelt film that will be shown at festivals nationwide.
