HDNet FIGHTS RECKLESS ABANDON… American Airlines Center
TEXAS MMA SUPERSTARS EDWARDS, SPRATT HEADLINE UNDERCARD
DALLAS, TEXAS — Ten Texas fighters, including veteran MMA stars Yves Edwards and Pete Spratt, are set to battle on the December 15th, HDNet FIGHTS, RECKLESS ABANDON card at Dallas’ American Airlines Center, it was announced today by HDNet FIGHTS matchmaker, Guy Mezger. The event is sponsored by Rob Zombie’s Halloween Unrated Director’s Cut DVD.
The ten-fight card, headlined by co-main event bouts featuring Jason “Mayhem” Miller vs Tim Kennedy and Frank Trigg vs Edwin DeWees, is sponsored by Rob Zombie’s Halloween, on DVD. The live event begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be televised live on HDNet, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (CT), 8:00 p.m. (ET).
The 31 year old Edwards (29-13-1…Conroe, TX), will be showcasing his explosive thug jitsu fighting style against highly regarded freestyle wrestler, Alonzo Martinez (20-8…Omaha, NE). Edwards and Martinez are scheduled for three rounds (5 min. each) in the lightweight division.
Spratt (18-10, San Antonio), a Muay Thai/Brazilian Ju Jitsu fighter that is considered one of the premier strikers in the Welterweight division, is slated to battle against freestyle fighter, Tristan Yunker (12-6, Anderson, IN) in a three-round (5 min. each) contest.
According to Mezger, the former UFC and Pride stars, Edwards and Spratt, will be exciting additions to an already star-stacked fight card.
“A huge bonus for the fan,” declared Mezger, a former UFC Champion who now heads up HDNet FIGHTS fight operations. “Either one of these two (Edwards or Spratt) could easily be fighting in the main event. They are just two true professional fighters who give you a lot of action, every fight.”
Other Texans competing on the card in include; Robert Villegas (Corpus Christi), Chris Bowles (Dallas), Freddie Espiricueta (Dallas), Jason House (Dallas), Patrick Castillo (Copperas Cove), Marcus Lanier (Mt. Pleasant), Liam McCarty (Dallas) and Lee King (Houston).
Tickets for RECKLESS ABANDON are priced at $28, $53, $103 and $300 (Cageside Club). All tickets include Parking. Cageside Club seating includes: Seating in first 4 rows, Platinum Parking, Pre-Fight Reception featuring Halloween star Tyler Mane and an HDNet Fights gift bag that includes an autographed Halloween DVD by Rob Zombie, plus an HDNet Fights T-shirt and beanie.
Tickets are on sale now at the American Airlines Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster Outlets, including www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 214-373-8000. All in attendance receive Rob Zombie’s Halloween, on DVD.
Two bouts on the card will be non-traditional, five-round bouts, three minutes each, rather than the normal MMA bout that consists of three, 5-minute rounds.
One of those five-rounders (3 min. each) will feature Lee King (7-11, Houston) going head to head against Marcus Lanier (6-2, Mt. Pleasant), in a middleweight contest.
Big D bragging rights will be on the line when Jason House (7-4, Dallas) and Liam McCarty (6-4, Dallas) match-up in the other five-rounder (3 min. each).
OTHER BOUTS: All Scheduled for three, 5-minute rounds.
