TRISTAN YUNKER SHARES HIS THOUGHTS

Where to begin? Well, I guess I?ll start by giving you my thoughts on my last fight with Rob Kimmons. On September 21, in Las Vegas, NV, I took on Mr. Kimmons for the International Fighting Organization?s vacant welterweight championship. As many of you may or may not already know, that bout turned out to be unsuccessful for me. All I can say is that I definitely underestimated Rob and his abilities. He is definitely a great up & comer with a bright future ahead of him. I also feel as though I tried to rush things and was looking to finish the fight as quickly as possible, so I made some stupid mistakes that are uncharacteristic of my fighting style. All the aforementioned, along with probably a little karma coming back to bite me from all the pre-fight hype, ultimately led to my demise.
But alas, a new day has dawned, and a new fight is on the horizon. I will now be fighting on December 15, in Dallas, TX, against 7x UFC veteran, Pete ?The Secret Weapon? Spratt, as a feature bout on the HDNet Fights 2 event headlined by Jason ?Mayhem? Miller vs. Tim Kennedy. I think Pete is definitely an awesome striker, but I am planning to utilize my wrestling and top game to take him out of his element and putting him where I am most comfortable. Hopefully this will be the win that I need in order to get a long term deal with a little bit of job security.
Also, incase many of you haven?t already figured it out?I am now officially a welterweight. I?ve recently hit somewhat of a growth spurt (at least that?s what I call it??growth spurt? just sounds so much better than saying I?ve gotten fat) and I?ve decided that I don?t think I will be able to make the 155 lb weight limit anymore. It?s going to be a rough transition, but I think with the added size I will now be able to compete at 170 much better than I have previously faired.
And before I go, I would like to thank all my sponsors and everyone who helped out with my last fight. Thanks to Scientific Street Fighting for the gear, Sport Kilt & ScientificWrestling.com for covering my medicals, and of course UnlimitedFightNews.com, TheMMADigest.com, & MMAJunkie.com for any prefight coverage that the great people at these sites have provided. I guess this is goodbye for now. Hopefully everyone will tune in to HDNet on December 15 to watch me take on Pete Spratt.
