Coach Freije begins his first season as assistant wrestling coach for the Mavericks

Freije was an assistant coach at Western State College last season and helped guide the Mountaineers to a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference/Super Region 4 Championship title. WSC boasted 1 National Champion and 3 NCAA Division II All-Americans.
A graduate of Western State College (2009) he was an RMAC/Super Region 4 champion and a 2009 NCAA Division II national finalist. In 2009 the Mountaineers clinched the RMAC/Super Region 4 team title.
A native of Mesa, Arizona he was a 5A Arizona State Champion and East Valley Region Champion.
Freije has over five years experience as a camp clinician and will assist Head Coach Chuck Pipher with the MSC wrestling camps. As an assistant at WSC his responsibilities included implementing preseason and in-season weight training programs, individual workouts, film sessions, video coordinator and the recruitment of student-athletes.
Freije earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise and Sports Science from Western State College.
