In front of a packed house at Salem County Community College, Salem’s very own Mark “Oak Tree” Brown improved to 11-1 (4 KO’s) in winning the battle of the Brown?s by getting a disqualification victory over Bernard Brown 5-3 (3 KO’s). Oak Tree was boxing Bernard slowly and landed a decent left hook which left the challenger from Baltimore, Maryland clinching. As both men landed a few shots out of the clinch, referee Allan Huggins called for a break. The Maryland resident then hit Oak Tree as Huggins attempted to move the two massive Heavyweights apart.
Bernard once again swung at Oak Tree hitting him, prompting Huggins to warn Bernard. Bernard ignored the warning and went for another dirty blow prompting Huggins to disqualify him. Oak Tree became frustrated with the dirty tactics and wrestled his opponent to the ground punching him multiple times before police entered the ring to break up the ruckus. When the disqualification was announced at 1:45 into the first round, the fans chanted “let them fight, let them fight.”
Light Heavyweight Reuel Williams improved to 6-1 (2 KOs) following a very lackluster unanimous decision victory over Zeferino Albino 3-4 (1 KO). Williams showed a few flashes of his excellent hand speed while landing some good clean shots. Unfortunately, the Delaware product spent too much time waiting around or avoiding the wild punches of Albino. This caused the crowd to boo frequently throughout the bout. Scores were 59-55 on all three cards.
Milo “Main Event” Miles 1-0 (1 KO) successfully won his pro debut with a first round KO over Jeremy Melvin 0-2. Miles landed a short left hook which dropped Melvin for the count at 1:45.
Desmond Bolden 1-0 (1 KO) earned a second round TKO over an aggressive Jesse Horton. During the first round, Bolden landed some good shots but was not able to drop Horton. Bolden’s punch increase went down during the second stanza where Horton threw just about everything except the kitchen sink at Bolden.
Horton’s aggression may have evened up the fight on the scorecards but surprisingly, we will never know. Surprisingly, Horton stayed on his stool after the second round, leaving the crowd confused as to what happened. It was later confirmed that he could not continue due to exhaustion.
Mike Tiberi 4-0 (2 KOs) scored an exciting first round stoppage over Allen Moore 1-3 (1 KO). Tiberi immediately came out swinging and ate a few punches from Moore. Tiberi retaliated by dropping Moore with a picture perfect left hook which sent the mouth piece flying right next to yours truly ringside. Tiberi followed up by dropping a still shaken Moore just seconds later. Moore attempted to get up but referee Allan Huggins saw he was unfit to continue and stopped the contest only 2:23 into it.
Wilmington Delaware?s Ryan Belasco 5-2-3 (1 KO) had a lackluster draw with Brian Miller 1-0-2. Both men had small spurts of aggression although neither man was hurt at any point. Belasco and Miller often fought in close, leading to plenty of clinches and an uneventful fight which saw all three judges score it 38-38.
