Former EBU middle champ Amin Asikainen, 23-1, square off against Mexican veteran Yori Boy Campas, 91-10, February 1 in Helsinki, Finland, with P 3 Boxing promoting. Asikainen lost the EBU title in June of last year, won two comeback fights during the fall but failed to impress. Campas on the other hand comes in with three straight wins. “The fight is about making Asikainen a known name outside of Europe as well”, says Amin?s promoter, manager and trainer, Pekka Maeki. Maeki don?t make it a secret though that he would be happy to see “Idi” Amin as opponent for WBA titleholder Felix Sturm, who will make a voluntary defence during the spring. At the same Asikainen is # 1 challenger in the EBU ratings but will have to wait and see what happens with champ Sebastian Sylvester?s defence against Spaniard Javier Castillejo, who also is mandatory challenger for Sturm.
Jr welter Juho Tolppola is for now featured in the chief support but there could be another big fight coming Juho?s way within shortly.
Also on the bill are Norwegian jr light Andreas Evensen, lightweight Ville Piispanen and debuting heavy Jarno Rosberg.

The WBC will conduct several purse offers on Monday, January 14, 2008, in Mexico City .
Any promoter wanting to participate in the purse bid process must be registered with the WBC for the year 2008. The WBC rules for the purse bid process can be found on the WBC webpage at www.wbcboxing.com.
The fights that will be bidden are the following:
Heavyweight: Vladimir Virchis vs. Juan Carlos Gomez, final elimination.
Light Heavyweight: Chad Dawson vs. Adrian Diaconu, mandatory defense.
Super middleweight: Carl Froch vs. Dennis Inkin, final elimination.
Super lightweight: Timothy Bradley vs. Jose Luis Castillo, final elimination.
Lightweight: Joel Casamayor vs. Jose Armando Santa Cruz, mandatory rematch.
Featherweight: Hector Velazquez vs. Elio Rojas, final elimination.

LITZAU, THE GHOST ON SUNDAY’S RINGSIDE BOXING SHOW
IBF world featherweight champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero and his next opponent, Jason “The American Boy” Litzau, will appear together on Sunday’s “Ringside Boxing Show,” which airs weekly, 9-10
a.m. West Coast time, at www.knry.com.
Litzau will challenge Guerrero for his title belt Feb. 29 at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
Recent guests on The Ringside Boxing Show have included two-time heavyweight champ Riddick Bowe, two-time Trainer of the Year Jack Mosley, and female world champions Carina Moreno and Eliza Olson,
among others.

ESPINO GEARING UP FOR BOUT IN BAJA

ESPINO HEADS BACK TO BAJA!
January 11, 2008 ? WBC CABOFE Middleweight Champion Miguel Espino (18-2-1 7 KO’s) heads back to Baja California to continue his pursuit of a title bout in 2008.
Espino is scheduled to fight Humberto Corral, another Mexican native from Sonora, Mexico at the “Gymnasio Tigre Garcia” in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.
Espino ranked #13 in the World Boxing Council, looks forward to extending his fight streak to 10 straight wins and continue to climb up the rankings. After an impressive 4th round TKO win against Roberto Valenzuela last November and a brief hiatus over the holidays, the former Contender TV Series star has been training diligently with John Bray for his upcoming 12-round bout on Saturday, February 23rd.
When his trainer/manager was asked how camp has been progressing, Bray noted “Miguel has been staying focused and working hard at his dream of being the Middleweight Champion of the world.”
Since Espino?s last fight at the “Gymnasio Tigre Garcia”, he has generated great interest in the Mexican boxing community and the local Baja fans are looking forward to having him back. When asked about fighting in Mexico for the second time in three months, Espino indicated “I love fighting in Mexico; it’s a whole different culture, the fans, the community, they embraced me, I really appreciated it and look forward to giving them another great show on February 23rd.”
