THE ART OF PRACTICING LAW WITH A COMBAT SPORTS MINDSET :) LEARN JJJ!!

Posted on | October 8, 2007 | 23 Comments

Wrestling with Lawyers …
Ever imagine yourself a 97-pound weakling trying to take down a 350-pound lawyer in court? Tough odds!

When you tell the judge what the law says and why you should win, does the judge ignore you?

Does the lawyer on the other side use dirty tricks to hide facts and try to confuse you as well as the judge by citing appellate cases that don’t apply to the issues in your case?

Do you sometimes feel like you don’t have a chance?

Then you need Jurisdictionary’s legal “jiu-jitsu” … the art of using the weight and force of your opponent to defeat him!

You don’t have to be a heavy-weight to win. You just need to know how to fight smarter. Turn the other side’s dirty tricks against him!

Experienced litigators expect the other side to use corrupt tactics. They expect the other side will try to hide the facts. They expect the other side will mislead the judge by citing appellate cases that don’t apply to the issues. That’s how lawyers work.

But! The other side’s corruption is your advantage!

Remember the “scales of justice”? Sometimes we think only of putting more weight on our side of the balance, but you also have an opportunity to remove weight from the other side as well.

Use the other side’s corruption against them!

Give them procedural rope the way Jurisdictionary teaches, and sooner or later they’ll hang themselves!

If there’s one thing I learned after more than 21 years of winning lawsuits in state and federal court it is that truth overcomes lies, as light overcomes darkness … if you know how to get at the truth and get it in the record as admissible evidence!

Too many people rush into court waving the law and crying, “My rights were violated,” without knowing the first thing about getting admissible evidence into the record … evidence that shows you are telling the truth and the other side is lying … evidence that shows you should win and the other side should lose.

It’s just as important to show the other side is lying as it is to show you are telling the truth! And, many times, it’s much easier to do!

The bitter pro se complainers on the internet are, for the most part, people who either didn’t have a winnable case in the first place or didn’t possess the skillful knowledge we give you to get at the truth by shining a light on the other side’s lies! You can win pro se!

If you get all the evidence in before trial, you probably won’t have to go to trial. If you don’t win before trial, you probably won’t win at all.

Learn how to win before trial by getting evidence in the record!

Let Jurisdictionary show you how to make a winning record.

MIDWEST CAGE CHAMPIONSHIP WILL BE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

For Immediate Release

MIDWEST CAGE CHAMPIONSHIP THANKSGIVING EVE “NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS” PRO MIXED MARTIAL ARTS (MMA) EVENT INCLUDES FOUR TITLE FIGHTS BOUTS AT 95/KGGO ARENA

October 5, 2007- Des Moines, IA- Fast on the heels of the crowd pleasing MMC 10 event, Midwest Cage Championship (MCC) returns to the 95/KGGO Arena Wednesday, November 21 with their biggest event yet. For the first time, MCC 11 “Night of Champions” boasts four title bouts in one event. MCC and parent company, Midwest Sports Entertainment Group, L.L.C. have grown to become the premier mixed martial arts (MMA) promoter in the Des Moines. The company produces over ten events per year showcasing talents of the most exciting, and up and coming fighters. “This event brings out the best competition and will create the most action packed show to date” stated MCC partner John Halverson. Halverson is a UFC veteran, MCC co-founder, and respected fight match maker. “This show will bring out the best in each competitor, proving the bar has been raised to for everyone in the fight game, including the fans” Halverson added.

Chuck “The Reverend” Grigsby and Mike “Mini Van” Van Meer captured the MCC Light Heavyweight and Middleweight titles, respectfully, during July’s MCC 9. Since then, Grigsby went on to win Victory Fighting Championships Light Heavyweight title. Van Meer remained committed to training, both in Ames and Las Vegas, and competed in a high profile fight in Oklahoma City. Both fighters return to MCC 11, placing their belts on the line. “Mini Van” will face MCC number one contender Cole “The Apprentice” Jennet, who delivered an impressive defeat over Matt Skaggs during MCC 10. “The Rev” squares up against John Cornett, team mate and training partner of current MCC welterweight champion, Bobby Voelker.

Voelker returns to defend his own belt at Night of Champions. Voelker has built a well deserved reputation based on his three round war with veteran Teddy “Red” Worthington, and his last fight with Victor “Superman” Moreno, where he toppled Moreno with a jaw crushing, fight stopping, right hand blow. Voelker is considered a hard nosed, straight forward fighter willing to take on anyone. MCC 11 provides that opportunity.

The MCC Lightweight belt will also be awarded at MCC 11. The belt is currently open and was last held by Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens, who now claims a recent UFC win at UFC 76 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, CA. MCC is currently evaluating the best fighters to include in a four man tournament that will determine the winner of the belt. “We’re talking with the best fighters now and will match them based on their ability to excite and entertain the crowd.” confided Halverson.

Tickets for Midwest Cage Championship 11, “Night of Champions” can be purchased on-line at www.midwestcagechampionship.com , the arena box office, or by calling 515-278-9757. Midwest Cage Championship is a division of Midwest Sports Entertainment Group, LLC

KIMBO SLICE VS. TANK ABBOTT FIGHT MAY STILL HAPPEN

Palace Fighting Championship (PFC™) Interested in Making Kimbo Slice vs Tank happen

LEMOORE, Ca — The Palace Fighting Championship Mixed Martial Arts promotional organization as a brand is relatively new to the landscape of the fastest growing sport in the world.

However, the folks who own and operate the PFC™ are industry veterans with solid resources and a strong track record in producing and promoting hundreds of successful events, including a whopping 27 consecutive sold out MMA events in what is a true tertiary market, Lemoore, CA.

In light of the recent news that the CFFC 6 event, which was scheduled to take place on October 12th in Atlantic City, New Jersey has been cancelled the folks at the PFC and Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino are offering to step to the plate and help see the fight between David “Tank” Abbot and Kimbo Slice come to fruition.

“ You know I’ve been around, my team and I have promoted or co-promoted over 400 live events, concerts, boxing, MMA, you name it we’ve done it together. We know things happen and shows fall apart, but I am serious when I say that if both sides want this fight to take place all they have to do is call me and we’ll work to make it happen. With our next show only 6 days after their scheduled bout, I think it’s a no-brainer. The fight should take place and it should take place in the PFC,” said Christian Printup, who heads up the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casinos Entertainment Division and also developed the PFC on behalf of the Tachi-Yokut tribe and is one of two managing partners.

The Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, formerly known as the Palace Indian Gaming Center, was the home to the World Extreme Cagefighting organization prior to it being bought out by the Zuffa organization. Printup and his staff played a very large role in the development, marketing and production of the pre-Zuffa WEC events, and that experience has lead to the PFC rapidly growing and taking over as the leading small show on the West Coast.

“We have some very exciting announcements on the horizon, in regards to television and some other contracts that will help proliferate the PFC brand. We are very proud to be the first MMA organization that is wholly owned by Native Americans and we continue to grow into new markets,” Printup said. “The bottom line is Tank and Kimbo deserve the opportunity to stand face to face, toe to toe and fight. They deserve a payday and frankly there is no worry of investors dropping out with us. The PFC™ is ready to make this work if they want to fight.”
On Oct. 18th PFC 4’s “Project Complete” will take place in the Palace Bingo Hall. The card is already loaded with three PFC Title fights, which include Newport Beach’s Justin Levens (9-7) vs. Hanford’s Kenny Ento (8-2) for the vacant middleweight title.

San Bernardino lightweight Shad Smith (9-7-2) will defend his belt in a rematch against Lemoore’s Poppies Martinez (11-3-1) and North Hollywood’s Lodune Sincaid (10-4) will take on Sacramento’s Jeromy Frietag (5-5) for the vacant light heavyweight crown.

Also on the card is Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Scott Smith (10-4) vs. Santa Rosa middleweight Nate Loughran (5-0) and WEC veteran Ensenada, Mexico welterweight Olaf Alfonso (5-7) vs. Hesperia’s Thomas Denny (22-15).

In addition:

—Hanford lightweight Jeremy Luchau (0-0) vs. Fresno’s Shahob Nasrabadi (0-2).

—Fresno featherweight Jorge Evangelista (4-2-1) vs. Albuquerque, New Mexico’s Ed Tomaselli (3-4).

—Hanford flyweight Luis Gonzalez (0-0) vs. Merced’s Josh Besneatte (0-1).

—Las Veagas light heavyweight Dewey Cooper (2-0) vs. Fresno’s Jimmy Dexter (1-3).

—Merced middleweight Phil Collins (4-3) vs. Visalia’s Marc De La Cruz (2-1).

—Parlier middleweight Mike Moreno (2-1) vs. Fresno’s William Harmon (0-0).

—Sacramento light heavyweight Mark Munoz (1-0) vs. Anthony Rubacalva (1-0).

—Lemoore middleweight Mike Martinez (1-1) vs. Visalia’s Rocky Molina (0-1).

Weighins are slated for Wednesday, Oct. 17th at 4 p.m. at The Den Sports bar located on the third floor of the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino. Fight fans are encouraged to come see their favorite fighters.

Doors open for the fights on Thursday, Oct. 18th at 5:30 p.m. with the first fight slated for 6:30 p.m.

HEAVYWEIGHTS PETER AND MCCLINE READY FOR SATURDAY SHOWDOWN

PETER VS. MCCLINE SET FOR SATURDAY CLASH

By: Patrick McElligott

Boxing fans will be watching one of the most significant heavyweight fights in years on Saturday, when Showtime broadcasts the Samuel Peter vs JameelMcCline fight. Peter (28-1, with 22 KOs) defends his “title” against McCline (38-7-3, with 23 KOs) at the Madison Square Garden. This is a fight that could end anywhere between 1 and 12 rounds.

McCline had been preparing to fight Vitali Klitschko, and Peter was matched with Oleg Maskaev, when both Russian fighters pulled out, claiming back injuries. Questions about both of the claims have been raised. However, the original plan was for the winners of the two bouts to meet, and I believe that this would have meant a Peter vs McCline fight in March, 2008 at the Garden. Saturday’s fight merely advances what needs to happen in the division.

Both warriors have had time to make adjustments in their preparation to meet someone very different than they expected to be fighting. McCline was prepared to fight a tall man with a classic European stance, who fights in the middle of the ring. Klitschko, who has been inactive for years due to injuries, would not have been strong after four rounds. Jameel now faces an
shorter opponent who tends to be aggressive, and who has the endurance associated with athletes in their 20s. More, Peter has explosive one-punch knockout power.

“This man’s a beast,” McCline told reporters this week. “He’s a strong fighter, a big man who does not play games. He has trouble with big men who jab, and that’s exactly what I bring to the table.” McCline’s camp has clearly been studying the films of Peter’s fights, particularly with
Wladimir Klitschko and James Toney. He notes that even in his loss to Klitschko, Sam scored three knockdowns. Though Klitschko decked Jameel in the 10th round of their fight, he says, “I have a different chin than Wladimir. I’m a beast. It’s not easy to beat me.”

McCline may attempt to surprise Peter early in the fight. He is big enough to try to push Sam backwards, much as George Foreman did to Joe Frazier years ago. Jameel’s punching power is the greatest at his shoulder level, as evidenced even in close loses to Calvin Brock and Chris Byrd. Though Peter has a stronger chin than either of them, McCline’s power poses a threat to
any heavyweight.

If he can’t hurt Peter early, then McCline will attempt to dictate a slower paced fight. He will try to keep the action in the center of the ring, and to get Peter to make it a jabbing contest. McCline will try to tie-up his opponent inside, and get him frustrated to the point of making mistakes.

Jameel hopes that Peter’s inactivity, due to factors beyond his control, will result in his attempting to load up, and rely upon a single punch. Young champions who make mistakes late in a fight can become ex-champions, as Michael Moorer found out.

Samuel Peter was preparing to fight a man who was only an inch taller than him, who was slow, easy to hit, and who was afraid of him. The intimidation factor is a real part of what he brings to a fight. Some boxing “experts” felt it disappeared with his lose to Klitschko, but if that were the
measure, Sonny Liston wouldn’t have intimidated anyone after his loss to Marty Marshall.

“The switch of opponents doesn’t bother me,” he told reporters. “I’m a fighter and I will go in and do what I have to do. He’s a good fighter, but he doesn’t have a chance. I’ll just do my usual thing and get a knockout. If McCline is a beast, then welcome to my jungle. Now let’s do this in the ring come Saturday night.”

Peter needs to set the pace against the older man. He needs to cut off the ring, and move Jameel into the ropes. When Jameel tries to clinch, Sam needs to fire away inside, lifting short punches up under the rib cage. Sam’s maximum power is not limited to any single plane (which is part of the intimidation factor!), and his overhand right and even his sometimes-wide left hook can end any fight.

Sam’s trainer predicts a knockout between 5 and 7 rounds. He knows that at 37, it becomes difficult to carry 250+ pounds for three minutes a round, facing one of the division’s most intense punchers of recent times. If Sam comes in under a jab, and throws combinations starting at the belly and ending on the head, he will be very difficult to beat.

Enjoy the fight!

MESI REACTS TO CRITICAL REMARKS

Posted on | October 5, 2007 | No Comments

“Baby” Joe Mesi fighting mad

BUFFALO (October 5, 2007) – Former world No. 1 heavyweight contender “Baby” Joe Mesi (35-0, 28 KOs) has angrily responded to disparaging remarks made by his October 12th opponent, Shannon Miller (15-3, 9 KOs).

Mesi-Miller headlines “Clash of the Titans,” promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc., in the 10-round main event for the vacant WBC USNBC heavyweight title at Twin River Events Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

“I don’t know why he said the things he said but he’s going to pay for it in the ring,” Mesi said. “He made some stupid comments that I took personally, like I should be walking around wearing a helmet. I know what I’m doing and I wouldn’t risk myself. He needs to build up his courage and confidence anyway possible and he chose this way. He should know better. I don’t know how bright Shannon Miller is or how far he went in school. I was on the National Dean’s List and the National Honor’s Society in college, in case he wants to compare brains. My advice to Shannon Miller is, before October 12th start by practicing the phrase, Would you like French fries with that order, Miss?

“Shannon is not even close to being in my league. At the end of our fight, he’s going to be forced into retirement. I’m not the one who is going to have to think about retiring. He’s probably trying to use everything he can, but he’s not the same caliber of fighter as me, not even close. This very well could be his last fight; I’m going to take it out on him October 12th.”
“Clash of the Titans,” part of “The Budweiser Night at the Fights” series at Twin River, will be taped live and air Saturday night, October 13 starting at 9:30 PM/ET on by CN8, The Comcast Network as well as Cox Sports Television.

Tickets for “Clash of the Titans” are priced at $40.00, $45.00, (Bronze), $65.00 (Silver), $100.00 (Gold) and $150.00 (Jimmy’s Platinum Club) and may be purchased by calling CES (401.724.2253/2254), going on line at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, at the Twin River Event Center (100 Twin River Road, Lincoln, RI), or any TicketMaster location. Contact CES (401.724.2253/2254/www.cesboxing.com) or Twin River Events Center (877.82.RIVER/ www.twinriver.com) for more information. Doors open at 6 PM/ET, first bout at 7 PM/ET.
