RYAN BELASCO TO BATTLE BRYNE GREEN TO HEADLINE ROUND 2 AT HARRAH’S IN CHESTER, PA ON MARCH 18TH

CHESTER, PA (March 8, 2011)—On Friday night, March 18th at the beautiful Harrah’s Casino in Chester, Pennsylvania, popular Jr. Welterweight “Rockin” Ryan Belasco will take on Bryne Green in the eight round main event.
The card is promoted by Joey Eye Boxing and David Feldman.

Belasco of Wilmington, Delaware has a record of 14-4-3 with three knockouts and not only takes on anyone but is usually in the most entertaining fight of the night.

Belasco has taken on quality opposition such as Elad Shmuoel (15-1); Brian Miller (1-0-1); Victor Vasquez (7-1); Andrew Farmer (12-1).

His most impressive win was the fifth round stoppage over Vasquez.

Belasco is riding a three fight winning streak which includes his most recent outing when he scored a six round unanimous decision over Gustavo Dailey on December 3rd in Dover, Delaware.

Like Belasco, Green of Vineland, New Jersey is no stranger to stepping up and fighting top competition.

Green won his first three bouts before dropping a decision to undefeated Victor Valenzuela (2-0). Green then defeated undefeated Luis Esqullin (1-0) and Edward Valdez before losing his last three bouts with the latest being to Vasquez (11-4-1) via split decision in a bout that Green dropped Vasquez on October 8th.

The co-feature is an evenly matched six round Super Featherweight bout between “Flawless” Anthony Flores and Georgi Kevlishvilli.

Flores is one of the top young prospects in the area as the twenty-three year old has a record of 9-2 with six knockouts.
The Philadelphia native won his first eight bouts which included wins over veterans Darrell Martin (2-2) and Ikem Orji (4-0). He suffered his fist setback to Valenzuela and drew with world ranked Carlos Vinan in a bout that many thought that Flores deserved the decision.

Flores is coming off a eight round defeat to world ranked and undefeated Arash Usmanee (8-0) on October 8th in Philadelphia.
Kevlishvilli of Moscow, Russia will be making his American debut and he sports an impressive record of 11-1 with three knockouts.

Kevlishvilli won his first eleven bouts which included a win over undefeated Saichon SotornPitak (10-0). In his last bout, he then took on yet another undefeated fighter and was stopped in one round by Ayup Arsaev (8-0) in a battle for the WBC Baltic Featherweight title on October 3, 2009.

In a four round Cruiserweight bout, Taneal Goyco (3-1, 1 KO) squares off with Maurice Amaro (1-3) in a battle of Philadelphians.

Angel Ocasio (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia will take part in a four round lightweight bout when he takes on an opponent to be named.

In a four round female lightweight attraction undefeated Elizabeth Sherman (2-0, 1 KO) battles Jennifer Wood (1-1, 1 KO) of Richmond, VA.

Popular Heavyweight Jamie Campbell (3-1, 1 KO) of Ridley Park, PA will take on KC Cunningham (0-3) of Philadelphia in a four round bout.

Lightweight Lonnie Jackson Jr. (1-0) of Philadelphia takes on debuting William Morgan of Philadelphia in a four round bout.
Luis Castro (3-0, 1 KO) of Philadelphia returns after a two year layoff to fight Ramon Ellis (0-6) of Philadelphia in a four round bout in the Lightweight division.

Rounding out the card will be the pro debut of Fred Jenkins Jr. of Philadelphia battling Scott Bronner in a Light Heavyweight bout.

Johnson vs. Davis Headlines ShoBox Triple Header in Laredo, Texas

On Friday, April 8, C.Y. Benavides in association with DiBella Entertainment, Warriors Boxing and Keeppunching Entertainment will proudly present “Rumble on the Rio” a night of world class professional boxing at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas, with three main bouts televised live on Showtime’s popular ShoBox “The New Generation”.

In the main event, undefeated Houston, Texas, super middleweight Marcus “Too Much” Johnson (20-0, 15 KOs) will face Florida’s Dyah Davis (18-2-1, 9 KOs), son of 1976 Olympic gold medalist Howard Davis Jr., in an 10-round match-up.

The other televised bouts will feature 6′ 3″ welterweight up-and-comer Willie Nelson (16-0-1, 10 KOs) taking on Buffalo’s once-beaten Vincent Arroyo (10-1, 7 KOs) in a potentially explosive eight rounder and undefeated Framingham, Massachusetts native Danny O’Connor (14-0, 3 KOs) going against Brooklyn’s undefeated Gabriel Bracero (14-0, 1 KO) in a terrific eight-round light welterweight duel.

25-year-old Marcus Johnson won the WBO NABO championship last April by scoring a 10-round decision over then-unbeaten Derek Edwards at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. 29-year-old Davis was last seen in February, fighting to a controversial 10-round majority draw with formidable Mexican Francisco Sierra. Most observers, and one judge, felt Davis had done enough to win.

Cleveland’s 23-year-old Nelson draws comparisons to a young Thomas Hearns with his lanky frame and heavy hands. Power punching 23-year-old Arroyo was last seen scoring an upset KO over formerly undefeated Jeremy Bryan.

As an amateur, 25-year-old southpaw Danny O’Connor was the 2008 National Golden Gloves and the 2008 United States Light Welterweight Champion. His clever style of boxing is reminiscent of his idol, former champion Paul Spadafora. 30-year-old Puerto Rican American Gabriel Bracero will be fighting outside New York for the first time, but has shown tremendous talent since returning to boxing in 2009 after an eight-year hiatus.

Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard Training Camp Notes

MANCHESTER, Conn. (March 8, 2011) – The fight to determine America’s leading featherweight, pitting unbeaten NABF and NABO champion Matt “Sharp Shooter” Remillard against undefeated IBF # 1 contender Mikey Garcia, is the 10-round co-feature on Top Rank’s “Featherweight Fury,” March 26 on HBO After Dark live from Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey .

The March 12 card headlined by Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga will be called by Steve Albert with Al Bernstein and Antonio Tarver serving as expert analysts and Jim Gray reporting from ringside. David Dinkins Jr. is the executive producer for SHOWTIME Sports® with Ray Smaltz producing and Bob Dunphy directing. All of whom bring to the table a tremendous amount of pay-per-view experience to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev., LIVE on SHOWTIME PPV, beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

In addition to countless editions of SHOWTIME Championship Boxing, the experienced group last worked together in a pay-per-view capacity to produce and distribute the highly anticipated rematch between Diego Corrales and Jose Luis Castillo in 2005.

Cotto, the Pride of Puerto Rico, will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) super welterweight title against two-division world champion Mayorga in the main event. Cotto, of Caguas, Puerto Rico, has held a world title every year since 2004 and has won 15 of the 17 world championship bouts he has fought. Mayorga, of Managua, Nicaragua, is known for his reckless abandon and fearlessness inside the ring – a style of fighting that has produced 23 knockouts in 29 victories and legions of fans.

The veteran SHOWTIME announcing crew has some words of advice and keys to victory for the world championship event between Cotto and Mayorga:

A member of the prestigious World Boxing Hall of Fame, Albert has called some of the biggest and most memorable world championship fights in boxing history. Albert, who will serve as play-by-play announcer for the pay-per-view telecast, has drawn up a game plan for each man to walk away with the WBA title.

“Cotto needs to get inside Mayorga’s wide shots with compact, accurate punches,” Albert said. “Cotto is one of the best short-distance punchers in the sport. He needs to jab and move and blast that left hook, which is still one of the best in the business. He should use the entire arsenal. Fans want to see if that right hand is effective since the shoulder surgery. And make sure he has a Plan B, C and D.

“Mayorga, don’t smoke between rounds! Seriously, he’s physically bigger so he should impose his will and do what he always does, keep punching from all angles. He needs to keep Cotto guessing and make it wild.”

Bernstein, who has called more than 2,500 fights and 67 pay-per-view telecasts and will serve as expert analyst for this Saturday’s event, had similar thoughts for each fighter.

“Cotto needs to get inside the wide punches and work the double left hook,” Bernstein said. “He should go to the body – Mayorga is 37-years-old and a smoker.

“On the other hand, Mayorga needs to straighten out the right because wide ones won’t land. He should attack from the beginning because Cotto has been hurt by smaller fighters. Finally, he should make it a street fight – rough him up.”

The newest member of the SHOWTIME announce team, Tarver, is a former undisputed light heavyweight world champion and the first man to knock out former pound-for-pound king Roy Jones, Jr.

He joined SHOWTIME in 2008 as a boxing analyst. In ‘06, Tarver displayed his versatility and crossover appeal when he portrayed heavyweight champion Mason “The Line” Dixon in the blockbuster motion picture “Rocky Balboa,” the final installment of the legendary film series created by and starring Sylvester Stallone.

“It’s been a while since Mayorga has been in a significant fight after having some tough losses. For Mayorga, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Tarver, who is in the process of transitioning from the ring to ringside, “It could be his final chance to get back into the mix in the weight division so I see him being focused.

“He’s going to have to use his erratic and unpredictable style to win and he needs to fight really hard. When Cotto is forced to fight out of his rhythm he has some problems, so it will be important for Mayorga to press and not let Cotto time his punches. No rhythm, just wow! Be aggressive and fight hard. Mayorga has to make it nasty.”

While Mayorga needs to get wild and push Cotto out of his comfort zone, Tarver feels Cotto needs to do the same things he’s done to become one of the best fighters of the past 10 years.

“Cotto needs to keep the pace, continue to fight his fight, time his punches and move,” Tarver said. “As long as he can do that without being hurt he’ll be OK. Cotto needs to get up under those wild shots — that’s Mayorga’s style and Cotto can’t fall prey to that.

“I’m curious to see how much wear and tear Cotto has from his past fights and how that will affect him.”

Versatile, Emmy® Award-winning Gray, who will serve as roving reporter on the telecast, believes Cotto’s speed will be the difference maker and warns Mayorga to be patient against the talented champion.

“Cotto needs it more and is going to be able to take advantage of Mayorga, who has had long layoffs,” Gray said. “While Mayorga is colorful with his taunting and his words, the older you get the harder it is to back up all that commentary.

“I believe that Cotto will be much faster and should be able to avoid getting hit. Emanuel Steward will not let Cotto veer off course. Mayorga is very crafty and will have to pace himself and I believe he will have to pick his spots and try and do some damage if he can find an opening. He will have to be very patient.”

Integrated Sports Media distributing ‘La Revancha” PPV

HOBOKEN, N.J. (March 8, 2011) – Integrated Sports Media, the undisputed leader in the pay-per-view boxing, announced today that it will be distributing “La Revancha,” featuring the highly-anticipated rematch between WBO and The Ring light flyweight champion, Giovani “El Guerrero Azteca” Segura, and former 108-pound king, Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon, April 2 live from Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Mexico.

Segura (26-1-1, 22 KOs), fighting out of Bell, California by way of Mexico, captured the WBO, The Ring and WBA Super light flyweight titles last October, when he knocked-out the previously unbeaten champion Calderon (34-1-1, 6 KOs) in the eighth round in Puerto Rico. Segura was leading (69-64, 68-65, 67-66) on all three judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
The 28-year-old Segura, who will turn 29 the day before his fight against Calderon, also holds notable victories against Daniel Reyes KO1) and Carlos Tamara (DEC12). Giovanni has fought only once since defeating Calderon, last November in a non-title fight triumph against Manuel Vargas who retired after seven rounds.

Calderon, the pride of Puerto Rico, prior to fighting Segura had been the WBO light flyweight champion for more than three years (six successful title defences) and WBO minimum weight titlist (11 successful title defences) from 2003 until he moved up to light flyweight in 2007. Ivan is currently rated No. 1 by The Ring, as well as No. 3 by the WBO.

His boxing resume reads like a Who’s Who list of great 108 and 105 pound world champions and challengers, including victories against the likes of Rodel Mayol, Reyes, Higo Fidel Cazares (twice), Nelson Dieppa, Issac Bustos, Roberto Carlos Leyva, Ednar Cardenas, Alex Sanchez and Eduardo Ray Marquez.
