McAleese Backs Ochieng To Beat Noble This Saturday

Light Middleweight prospect ‘Phat’ Pat McAleese today gave his full support to Erick ‘The Eagle’ Ochieng by stating that his Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym mate will easily defeat Lee ‘Lightning’ Noble this Saturday at the Frank Maloney promoted Jamie Arthur vs Jason Booth Commonwealth Super Bantamweight title clash at the Brentwood Leisure Centre, Brentwood, Essex.

The only blemishes on McAleese’s otherwise immaculate record have come courtesy of Noble. The first, at Goresbrook Leisure Centre in March last year, was declared a draw by referee Richard James Davis even though McAleese had a superior work rate and had landed the more meaningful shots throughout.

The rematch, at Steve Goodwin’s excellent ‘It’ Personal’ event in September, had far more at stake, being it was for the vacant British Masters Light Middleweight title.

For almost nine rounds McAleese not just outworked Noble, he plain dominated him. Noble’s work rate was exceptionally poor, he seemed content to cover up and absorb the constant barrage of punches, only occasionally responding with the odd jab or flurry here and there.

In the dying seconds of the ninth round Noble let rip with a peach of a right uppercut. It was a near perfect shot and dropped McAleese on the spot.

On learning that Ultrachem TKO gym mate Ochieng’s replacement opponent for Saturday’s Sky Sports televised event was to be Noble, Newmarket’s McAleese was quick to show his support by saying, “I don’t think Erick will have too much trouble, he hits hard, he’s got a fast jab. When I fought him (Lee Noble) I was eight rounds up going into the ninth round but just got caught by a lucky shot.

I think Erick’s a little bit more cagey, I think he’ll pick Noble off and out work him. Noble’ll find it hard because he’ll be hitting down a lot, being taller and Erick gets really low. I think he’ll find it really hard to fight Erick.

Erick will come through with flying colours.”

Switching tack McAleese spoke a little about his last bout as well as his upcoming fight on March 19th and the possibility of a second rematch between himself and Noble, “Trilogy, I’d like to fight him again. I’m fighting on the 19th March and then I’ve got a show on the 30th April, which is in Newmarket where I live.

I’ve boxed him (Noble) twice. The first one I thought I’d won hands down but they gave a draw. The last time I was eight rounds up going into the ninth and got caught by a lucky shot.

I think a third time I’ll want to just put my mind to rest. Neither of them should have been negatives on my record, I just want to set the record straight.

I’ve been working well with Johnny Eames and Brian O’Shaughnessy, who’s my new co-trainer. Doing loads and loads of new things. Come 19th March I’m going to come out a much improved fighter.

Hopefully I’ll get the win and then look for a rematch with Noble.”

Newton dedicated to change: Former champ replacing injured Al-Hassan at MFC 28

A newly re-focused and re-dedicated fighter is hoping to re-establish himself as an elite fighter in the Maximum Fighting Championship.

He’ll get the opportunity to prove he’s a changed man as an injury replacement at MFC 28: Supremacy.

Former MFC light heavyweight champion Emanuel “The Hardcore Kid” Newton (13-6-1) has agreed to a new multi-fight contract with the organization, and he will take the spot of Razak Al-Hassan in a matchup against Rodney Wallace (10-3) on the MFC 28: Supremacy card.

Al-Hassan, who dropped a close decision to Dwayne Lewis at MFC 27, has been sidelined due to an injured back. Wallace had reason to step away from the fight too, as sadly his mother passed away very recently, but “Sho Nuff the Master” has maintained his focus and will seek out his second straight win after getting a decision verdict over David Heath at MFC 27.

Newton, who just turned 27, has shaken off the issues that dogged him since his title reign.

“You’re going to see a totally different fighter now, not just physically and mentally but emotionally too. I’ve got a lot more drive now,” said Newton, who has switched camps from Team Bodyshop to Kings MMA.

While new trainer Raphael Cordeiro has coaxed out a more aggressive Newton to take advantage of his natural athleticism, changes the fighter undertook on his own have truly made the biggest difference.

“I really had to revamp things,” explained Newton. “I’ve stopped smoking, drinking, partying. I’m still a young guy but I’m at an age now in the sport where I want to make some good money so I need to be clean and I have to be dedicated to training hard. I can’t have a hard night of partying and then not be able to train.

“I don’t want anything bad in my body. I’m clean, I’m pure, and I’m 100%.”

Along with all those changes, Newton has also become a new dad caring for his daughter Helena.

On top of wearing the MFC’s 205-pound title belt, Newton is best-known for an 11-fight undefeated streak that started in April 2005 and ran to December 2008. His impressive run was punctuated by a second-round submission win via rear-naked choke over Heath in his organizational debut at MFC 18. One fight later, his streak had its ultimate highlight when he claimed the MFC’s 205-pound crown with a five-round decision over Roger Hollett at MFC 19.

Unfortunately the title run was short-lived. At MFC 21, Newton dropped the belt in a five-round verdict against Trevor Prangley. Newton’s career seemed to derail further when he was on the wrong end of a three-round decision against Ryan Jimmo at MFC 23, but the 27-year-old bounced back albeit in an underwhelming performance from both fighters in a decision win over Dwayne Lewis at MFC 25.

The Newton-Wallace fight is part of the six-bout main card for MFC 28: Supremacy that includes a light-heavyweight title bout between Ryan “The Big Deal” Jimmo and Dwayne “D-Bomb” Lewis, plus lightweight champ Antonio “Mandingo” McKee defends his belt against Drew “Night Rider” Fickett. And in a featured welterweight clash, home-town fan favorite Sheldon Westcott takes on iconic veteran Thomas “Wildman” Denny.

Douglin to face Carrasquillo February 18!

Morganville, NJ (February 3, 2011) – Unbeaten junior middleweight Denis “Da Mommas Boy” Douglin will look to take another step in the right direction when he battles cement fisted veteran Doel Carrasquillo Friday, February 18 at the Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, MD.

Douglin, 12-0 (8 KO’s), is scheduled to fight in an eight rounder for the first time as a professional. The Morganville, NJ native stopped his last five opponents, most recently demolishing 11-2 Matt Berkshire in less than two minutes on December 17.

Although his counterpart’s record of 14-17-1 with 12 KO’s doesn’t indicate frequent success, Carrasquillo is a proven spoiler that shattered dreams of notable fighters such as Isam Khalil, Wayland Willingham, Keenan Collins, The Contender’s Aaron Torres and Jorge Melendez. The Lancaster, PA based Puerto Rican is Douglin’s most experienced opponent to date, having also gone toe to toe wit the likes of 2000 Olympic Silver Medalist Ricardo Williams, highly touted Willie Nelson, Steve Chambers, unbeaten contender Mike Jones and Tim Coleman amongst others.

“I know he is a very rugged and tough guy, so I am training for a hard eight round fight,” said Douglin, the 2008 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion. “My goal is to knock him out, impress the fans and leave it out of the judges’ hands!”

The Douglin-Carrasquillo bout is part of the untelevised portion of an ESPN Friday Night Fights card promoted by Prize Fight Boxing in association with Global Boxing Promotions.

Movie to Debut on July 20th, the anniversary of Bruce Lee’s death

LOS ANGELES – (February 3, 2011) – 2011 AVN Director of the Year Axel Braun has announced that he started pre-production on “Bruce Lee XXX: A Porn Parody.”

The movie will star Asian adult superstar Keni Styles in the title role, and will be distributed starting July 20th by the world’s leading adult film studio, Vivid Entertainment.

CHICAGO, Il (February 2, 2011) – Bellator Fighting Championships’ highly anticipated fourth season will premiere Saturday, March 5, at 9:00pm ET/PT and air weekly on MTV2 featuring live fights from venues around the country with many of the top mixed martial arts fighters in the world. This season will feature a welterweight, lightweight, light heavyweight and featherweight tournament with bouts airing live every Saturday night for 12 weeks on MTV2. The first Bellator light heavyweight champion will be decided during Season 4 live on MTV2. The first fighter made official for the Bellator Season 4 light heavyweight tournament is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and member of the legendary Gracie family, Daniel Gracie.

Bellator’s third welterweight tournament is one of the most talent-filled in mixed martial arts to date. Fighters confirmed for the upcoming 170-pound tournament include former Bellator welterweight world champion Lyman Good; MMA veteran Jay “The Thoroughbred” Hieron; Season 2 finalist Dan “The Handler” Hornbuckle; undefeated Judo Olympian Rick Hawn; fast rising Brent Weedman, undefeated knockout artist Chris “The Assassin” Lozano; British standout “Judo” Jim Wallhead, and hard-hitting Iraq War veteran Steve Carl. The tournament winner will challenge Olympian and Bellator world champion Ben Askren for the welterweight world championship later this year.

Franco-Miranda, Kayode-Iannuzzi Fights Still On For Friday, Feb. 4, LIVE on SHOWTIME®

NEW YORK (Feb. 1, 2011) – Undefeated lightweight prospect Archie Ray Marquez suffered an injury during training and was forced to pull out of his scheduled bout against Marvin Quintero on this Friday’s ShoBox: The New Generation on SHOWTIME®.

The scheduled main event and co-feature remain intact. The telecast begins at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). The Marquez-Quintero bout will not be replaced.

In the 10-round main event, undefeated featherweight prospect and Cuban Olympian Luis Franco (8-0, 5 KOs) will look to take another giant step towards challenging for a world title in 2011 when he takes on veteran Leonilo Miranda (26-2, 25 KOs).

In a co-feature worthy of main event billing, crowd-pleasing, Freddie Roach-trained Lateef Kayode (15-0, 14 KOs) will be looking for his 15th consecutive knockout as he squares off against Tampa native Nicholas Iannuzzi (16-1, 9 KOs) in a 10-round cruiserweight bout.

Bernardo Osuna will call the ShoBox action from ringside with Steve Farhood and Antonio Tarver serving as expert analysts. Gordon Hall is the executive producer of ShoBox with Richard Gaughan producing and Rick Phillips directing.
