New York State Assemblyman Bob Reilly Defends His Opposition to the Legalization of MMA- Friday, September 3 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HDNet

DALLAS (September 2, 2010) Assemblyman Bob Reilly is the man leading the charge against legalizing mixed martial arts in the state of New York, and tomorrow night on “Inside MMA,” the sport’s most vocal critic explains his opposition in Part One of an exclusive two-part interview.

“What attracts people to Ultimate Fighting unfortunately is the violence and violence is not good for our society,” Reilly says. “The difference between mixed martial arts and every other sport is that in mixed martial arts the purpose is to damage your opponent.”

The World’s only Arab Heavyweight boxer, Hammersmith, London based Iraqi, Ali Adams’ team called the ‘big guns’ in to help him prepare for his upcoming appearance in the massively successful Matchroom Sports promoted Prizefighter series, which makes it’s welcome return to York Hall on Saturday the 9th October with Heavyweights IV.

Adams, who will be facing former WBU World Heavyweight Champion Matt Skelton in the quarter final of Prizefighter, today sparred English Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury at the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym in Canning Town, London.

Following the sparring session a beaming Adams said, “Yeah, I was sparring with Tyson Fury. Johnny (trainer Johnny Eames) called me last night and told me I’m sparring Tyson today.

He’s a good boxer, I sparred with him four rounds. I’ve never sparred someone as big as him, he’s very big, very tall. The sparring went very well, and I was like using my jab with him, even though he has a longer reach. He has a long reach but I still landed the jab on his body and his face, so sparring went very well.

I’ve been sparring with Dutch Cruiserweight Mitchell Balker, Light Heavyweight Joel McIntyre and Heavyweight Damian Campbell and now Tyson so I think I’m working it out with everything it’s been amazing and it’s been going so well for me.”

Adams then spoke briefly on his chances of winning the £32,000 prize up for grabs at Prizefighter – Heavyweights IV, “I’m very fast for a Heavyweight, I’m the fastest Heavyweight in the country. I think because of the speed I’ve got. I think Prizefighter is perfect for me. No one is going to cope with me with my speed“

On Wednesday boxing legend Evander Holyfield performed the quarter-final draw for the Heavyweights IV, which see the Adams drawn to face the highly decorated – British, Commonwealth, EBU and WBU World Champion – Matt Skelton in the fourth quarterfinal at Prizefighter – Heavyweights IV on Saturday 9th October at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London.

In the opening bout of the night will feature Ireland’s Kevin McBride, the last person to beat ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson, against former British Champion Michael Holden.

The second fight of the night will see former British Masters Champion Carl ‘The Fridge’ Baker against the yet to be named ‘Wildcard’ fighter.

Limond trying to upset hero Morales on ‘Mexican Fiesta’ PPV show

Mexican Independence Day extravaganza Sept. 11 in Mexico City

HOBOKEN, N.J. (Sept. 1, 2010) – Scotsman Willie “Hands of Steel” Limond, WBU Lightweight Champion, will be a plaid matador to Mexican bull — 5-time world champion in three different weight classes, Erik “Terrible” Morales — in their September 11 showdown that headlines the “Mexican Fiesta” Pay-Per-View show live from Mexico City.

“”I know this is going to be a hard fight,” Limond said, “but I’m hoping to take the bull by the horns and put on a great performance for the fans in Mexico, USA and my Scottish fans back home.”

“He has tons of experience, more knockouts than I have fights, and he is still a very dangerous fighter. If I were to win this fight it would be the highlight of my career and I think it could open major doors for big fights.”

(For immediate release) August 29, 2010, Montreal – After a successfully conquering Quebec city on August 7 in front of a sold out crowd for Ringside: Invasion, Ringside MMA will be back in Montreal on November 13th at the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau for our next event: Payback! Jonathan “Road Warrior” Goulet will be competing in his 35th professional MMA fight by headlining an event for a 2nd straight time. Goulet (23-11-0), who has long been in the shadow of teammate Georges St-Pierre, both at home and on the international scene, has also yet to challenge for the opportunity of a title shot. Ringside is pleased to announce that he will finally have that chance, as he will take on none other than Chris Clements (6-4-0) for the vacant welterweight title in a 5 round championship match at 170 pounds.

Representing the world renowned Trigym Gym in Montreal, Jonathan Goulet is coming off an impressive 1st round TKO victory over Canadian prospect Matt MacGrath in his first fight for Ringside. Goulet was coming off a loss at the hands of Marcus Davis in May at UFC 113 in Montreal, which was his first fight in over 2 years due to an injury. This loss signalled the end of his UFC contract, as he was let go by the American promotion. The Victoriaville native stayed positive, and has decided to refocus his career by making it his mission to accumulate championship titles. Preferring to seize the opportunity rather than be mired in self-pity, Goulet has bounced back with a vengeance to quickly become Ringside MMA’s top contender for the welterweight title.

Despite his limited experience in professional MMA fights, IFL veteran Chris Clements represents a major threat for Jonathan Goulet, due to his innate talent for striking. Known for his ability to end fights quickly through his explosive TKOs, this professional MMA fighter from Adrenaline MMA in London, Ontario (Team Tompkins), will have the continued benefit of training with the likes of Mark Homonick, Sam Stout and Chris Horodecki. Clements has already fought 6 times in Quebec, and his built a very strong fan base in the province.

This matchup will no doubt cause some divisions amongst the Quebec fight fans who have grown to support this group of Team Tompkins based fighters who have fought in Quebec over the last 7 years. In the co-main event of the night, rising star Alex Garcia (4-0-0), who has kept his record perfect intact through his first four professional fights, will be facing the toughest challenge of his young career when he takes on veteran Tyler « TNT » Jackson (9-6-1) from the Revolution Fight Time out of Langley, BC. Jackson has already faced the likes of Samuel Guillet, Martin Grandmont and Sam Stout, and he was the first to put a blemish the record of then undefeated Derek Gauthier in January 2010.

Derek Gauthier (6-2-0) is looking to get back into the win column, after most recently sending shockwaves of concern through the crowd as a result of a brutal KO loss during Ringside: No Escape, at the hands of veteran Dustin Poirier. His opponent for Payback has yet to be determined.

Making his fourth professional fight will be Christopher « The Tank » Boisvert (2-1) from Team Bergeron who will face the Albertan Lenny Wheeler (3-1-0). Boisvert, a native of Drummondville, delivered one of his best performances in a grudge match against rival Kevin Morin on June 18th – No Escape, which negated his disqualification loss from their first encounter. On November 13th, one of Quebec’s best prospects will look to represent his province when he takes on one of the best of Western Canada in Wheeler. For his part, Wheeler rattled off three consecutive wins to start his career, but is coming off an arm bar submission loss to Josh Machan. With all of their victories being earned through striking, the fans can expect a stand up war between these two fighters.
