A Benefit Event for Children’s Hospital
On September 25th, 2010, Coors Light Presents “Champions For Children.” This will be the first annual Mixed Martial Arts event produced by PureCombat on behalf of Children’s Hospital Central California; benefiting the hospitals fund raising Campaign For Children’s. Come out and support this effort and “YOU” too can be a Champion for Children’s.
Kicking off this event will be the Weigh Ins on September 24th from 5-7pm; …hosted by the Manchester Center located on Shields and Blackstone in Fresno. Bring the whole family to the center of the mall for some fun, shopping and mingling with stars like Ultimate Fighter Season 11 Winner, Court McGee. Court will be signing autographs and taking pictures as we celebrate this opportunity to fight for Children’s Hospital. Also making an appearance is 17-7-1 superstar Mike Kyle who’s fought all over the world and in the UFC, WEC and Strikeforce.
The big event will be the following evening at the Clovis Rodeo Grounds ….and since this is all about being champions, how better than to include a championship fight for the recently vacated 170 lb Welterweight Belt with Brock “The Machine” Jardine whose ready to meet whomever we put in front of him confident that the belt already belongs to him.
Look forward to a battle between Olympic Silver Medalist/Fresno State Alumni Stephen Abas in his 3rd fight of his career against Martin “Tarzan” Sandoval, at one of the most exciting weight classes, the 135 lb. division. Brodie Farber a well rounded fighter whose last 2 fights have been in the UFC is also a Fresno State Alumni and will be meeting the man with the fastest KO in the world …..3 sec KO Steve “Dangerous” Ramirez. Ralph Alvarado, another tough Fresno State Wrestler, is also on the card and is looking for the one fighter who will accept this battle at 135…….any takers???
PureCombat vet Rodney Rhoden has agreed to pit his knock out record against Rob Emerson’s UFC past. Rob, whose last 7 fights have been in the UFC, has proven by his record of wins that he has the gas to stay in the fight… all the way to the end.
Gabriel Solorio will be meeting Alex Crispim, Strikeforce Vet, in the cage…both having identical records and the same history of wins should make the outcome to this fight anyone’s guess.
Also on the card is Mike Guidry vs Ben Davis, Rafael Urena vs Dominic Clark, Cole Nagy vs TBD, Anthony Vidal vs Jose Torres and we’ve added a fem fight with a Farmersville school teacher Ms. Reneau, Mo’s opponent is TBD.

About CCN
CCN, Community Cable Network, is a local origination television station. Established in 1991 and part of the CATV Service, Inc. cable channel lineup, CCN brings its viewers exclusive local original programming.
The first programming to air on CCN consisted of a local high school football game in the fall of 1991. As local viewer interest increased, coverage was expanded into other types of sporting events, including wrestling, soccer, basketball and dirt track racing. To further its local community coverage, CCN also began televising local community festivals, such as the Milton Harvest Festival, Warrior Run Heritage Days, the Danville Iron Heritage Festival and the Lewisburg Veteran’s Parade, just to name a few. Other events include both singing and instrumental concerts, a high school scholastic showcase, “Santa Comes to CATV” and the Pennsylvania Youth Driving Championships.
In 1996, there was a need for more in-depth coverage of local issues and events which lead to the establishment of a daily newscast. Airing three times each weekday, “CCN News 8” brings its viewers local news, weather and sports from within the Central Susquehanna Valley. It provides consistent detailed coverage that can only be found within a local newscast; news that happens within “your own neighborhoods”. Continuing with its dedication to the community, CCN also produces a television show called “In Your Neighborhood.” It is a television newsmagazine featuring the people, places, organizations and businesses of the Central Susquehanna Valley. Many of the videos can be currently viewed on the “In Your Neighborhood” Facebook page.
Throughout its development and growing experience with video production, CCN has also expanded to accommodate the needs of corporate and commercial video recording. “CCN Productions” provides video services such as television shows, commercials, web video, promotional video and surgical videos to name a few. All of the services are available in full high definition, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound and Closed Captioning with advanced DVD authoring. CCN is proud to serve the Central Susquehanna Valley and remains committed to providing quality original programming because… “Your community is our community.”

FORMER WORLD CHAMPION DANIEL PONCE DE LEON MEETS TOP-RATED CONTENDER ANTONIO ESCALANTE ON

LOS ANGELES, September 1 – On a night celebrating the Bicentennial of Mexican Independence, it is only fitting that two Mexican warriors open up the star-studded September 18 pay-per-view telecast from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, as former World Champion Daniel Ponce De Leon of Chihuahua squares off against Ciudad Juarez native Antonio Escalante in what promises to be a bona-fide Fight of the Year candidate.

A devastating two-fisted puncher, Daniel Ponce De Leon (39-2, 32 KO’s) held the WBO Junior Featherweight World title for nearly three years from 2005 to 2008, defending his crown six times. In 2009, the 30-year-old southpaw began his campaign at 126 pounds, and with four straight wins at featherweight, including 2010 victories over Orlando Cruz and Cornelius Lock, De Leon is well on his way to another world championship shot.
A thrill-a-minute battler who has captivated fight fans in his adopted home of El Paso, Texas, 25-year-old Antonio Escalante (23-2, 15 KO’s) holds wins over the likes of Mike Oliver, Gary Stark Jr. and Cornelius Lock. This year, he has taken his game to the next level with an unforgettable 10 round win over Miguel Roman in a 2010 Fight of the Year candidate in February and a three round blitz of veteran Edel Ruiz in August. If he can cap off the year with a big win over De Leon, a world title shot will be first on Escalante’s 2011 wish list.

Holyfield conducts Prizefighter Heavyweights IV draw
Posted on | September 1, 2010 | No Comments

Who will be the mystery man on October 9?
Boxing legend Evander Holyfield signalled the return of Prizefighter on Saturday 9 October after performing the draw for the Heavyweights IV.
The five-time World champion performed the draw in central London with a “wildcard” in the draw as promoters Matchroom Sport close in on a big name to complete the line-up for the 14th outing of Barry Hearn’s eight-man, one night tournament, live on Sky Sports – with the winner scooping £32,000.
Old rivals Matt Skelton and Michael Sprott could meet in the semi-finals on the night, potentially giving Sprott the chance to avenge two defeats against the former English, British European and Commonwealth champion Skelton – with Sprott returning to the ring for the first time since his last gasp knockout defeat to Audley Harrison in their European title bout in April.
Sprott faces Danny Hughes in the third quarter-final of the night, the Sunderland fighter who fought in the last Heavyweights outing, knocking out Neil Perkins in the quarter-finals before losing to Harrison in the semis. Skelton must get past Ali Adams in order to reach the semi-final with the London-based Adams unbeaten in his last nine fights with eight wins.
In the opening bout of the night, Irishman Kevin McBride – famous for being the last man to beat Mike Tyson – take on Manchester’s Michael Holden, the former British champion who has scores to settle with both Sprott and Skelton after losing to the pair earlier in his career.
The winner of that fight will face the winner of the second fight of the night as Carl Baker, the man who defeated Danny Williams in Prizefighter Heavyweights III faces the Wildcard fighter. Matchroom Sport Managing Director Eddie Hearn said the spot will be filled soon, with a series of big names in line for the final spot.
“We want to make sure we get a big name for the wildcard spot because I believe that the final spot is worthy of it,” said Hearn. “We are talking to a couple of names including one in particular who I really want to convince to take this spot – he is a young British fighter who I think could be something special but he needs to showcase that in front of a bigger audience.
“Prizefighter has become a huge springboard for fighters and the boxing fans consider it to be a major title. There is gridlock right now in the domestic heavyweight scene and if I was a fighter in the Heavyweight division I would be looking at winning Prizefighter live on Sky Sports and in front of a massive audience to bypass them all.”
After completing the draw for the night, Holyfield said that the fans can expect a furious night of action on Saturday 9 October – but he won’t be taking that Wildcard spot!
“When you have three rounds you don’t have time to try and extend the game – you can just go out and give your best – it is almost like an amateur fight,” said Holyfield. “At my age, your body doesn’t recover – you need more than one hour, you need three hours! When I get tired these days, that’s it!”
PRIZEFIGHTER HEAVYWEIGHTS IV DRAW
Michael Holden v Kevin McBride
Wildcard v Carl Baker
Michael Sprott v Danny Hughes
Matt Skelton v Ali Adams
Tickets for Prizefighter Heavyweights IV are available now at £35 (unreserved), £60 (ringside) and £100 (VIP) – call Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900.

HDNET’S “FIGHTING WORDS WITH MIKE STRAKA” TO FEATURE GREG JACKSON
Posted on | September 1, 2010 | No Comments
Jackson tells Straka: “The Octagon is nothing but a laboratory” – airing this Friday, September 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET on HDNet
DALLAS (September 1, 2010) MMA coach Greg Jackson is the featured guest on “Fighting Words with Mike Straka,” this Friday, September 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET on HDNet, Your Home for MMA.
Jackson, who trains some of the biggest names in MMA, from UFC Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, to Light Heavyweight contender Rashad Evans to rising star Jon Jones, tells Straka that even though he is one of the best known coaches in the sport, it’s never about him.
“I’m there to help these guys achieve their dreams and come to their potential as fighters,” said Jackson. “The Octagon to me is nothing but a laboratory where I can test my ideas. You’re in this arms race against people…basically it’s a place where I get to evolve, get to figure things out and get to be a true artist.”
Jackson, known by many in MMA as “Yoda” or “The Maestro,” has been criticized recently for being too strategic, with some MMA observers pointing to Georges St. Pierre’s decision victory over Dan Hardy at UFC 112 and Rashad Evan’s decision over Rampage Jackson as examples of Jackson’s fighters fighting not to lose.
Jackson discusses his strategies for fighters with Straka, but also goes into his philosophy. “It’s not all about pragmatism,” says Jackson. “It’s not all ‘if I do A, B, C and D I’m going to win the fight.’ You have to have heart, you have to have fire… sometimes you have a broken hand, well, you have to have heart. This is a fight. You have to hit him with the hand,” said Jackson.
An exclusive preview clip for the show can be seen at:
http://blog.hdnetfights.com/post/1043282180/fighting-words-greg-jackson
Also on this week’s episode, British fighter Ross Pearson, who takes on Cole Miller at UFC Fight Night 22 on September 15 talks about the evolution of Mixed Martial Arts in England, and his journey through the ranks of the UFC Lightweight division.
“Fighting Words with Mike Straka” airs this Friday night, September 3, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. ET on HDNet.
