Ringside – Fight card changes : Franczuz will face Fortier
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
(For Immediate Release) July 19, 2010 – Montreal – Several changes have been made to the Ringside MMA « Invasion » fight card which will be held at the Gilles-Tremblay Arena in the Beauport district of Quebec City on August 7th. Featured on the card by taking center stage in front of his hometown fans will be UFC veteran Jonathan “The Road Warrior” Goulet, as he takes on Canadian welterweight prospect Matt MacGrath. In addition, Mitch Gagnon will be making his first title defence when he battles the formidable John Franchi. This will be the first time in the history that a mixed martial arts event will take place in a cage within the city, making Ringside 8 : Invasion a much anticipated event for fight fans in the Old Capital.
Ringside MMA is pleased to announce that the opponent for Quebec’s young prospect, Guillaume Fortier (2-2-0) has been determined. It will be none other than Brent “For Real” Franczuz (1-1-0) from team MFC Windsor. Do not be fooled by his record, as this fighter is far more experienced than his record would indicate. This is a fighter who has fought both in the amateur and professional ranks against fighters such as Brandon Sturgis, Balow Craiger, Matt Spendlove and Chad Coon. In Quebec, he has fought against the likes of Cyril Robert, and most recently against the undefeated Josh Hill, the latter of whom gave Franczuz the first loss of his career. For his part, Fortier holds victories over Erik Dumaine and Pierre-Etienne Marcoux, two fighters from Drummondville, but lost in his last fight to Dwight Sutherland from Winnipeg in June.
Unfortunately, the fight between Erik Dumaine of Drummondville and Stephane Bernadel must be cancelled due to an injury suffered by the Team Bergeron member during training camp.
For this same reason, Michael Karkula, who was supposed to face David Lafond from Sherbrooke, will also be taken off the August 7th fight card. Ringside MMA was able to find a replacement, in the form of Albert Cheng (1-0-0). Cheng was victorious in his MMA debut when he won by rear naked choke against Wesley Ranger in April. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Cheng, who is also conditioning coach, was particularly impressive with his form in the ring.
Please note that tickets for Ringside 8 : Invasion are now on sale at all Billetech networks, either by phone at (418) 813-6131 or Toll-Free at 1-800-900-SHOW, or online at the official Billetech website at the following url: (http://www.billetech.com/html/browse.htmI?l=FR&cat=34&siteCat=2). MAYWEATHER MAKES PUBLIC STATEMENT ABOUT PACQUIAO FIGHT NEGOTIATIONS

TEAM MAYWEATHER STATEMENT
Leonard Ellerbe, Advisor, Floyd Mayweather
“Here are the facts. Al Haymon, Richard Schaefer and myself speak to each other on a regular basis and the truth is no negotiations have ever taken place nor was there ever a deal agreed upon by Team Mayweather or Floyd Mayweather to fight Manny Pacquiao on November 13. Either Ross Greenburg or Bob Arum is not telling the truth, but history tells us who is lying.”

Sylvia on search and destroy mission for ‘War on the Mainland’
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
Three PWP Title fights featured on Aug. 14 PPV show in Irvine, CA
SAN DIEGO (July 19, 2010) – Two-time UFC heavyweight champion Tim “Maine-iac” Sylvia plans to make a loud statement August 14 when he takes on former UFC and Strikeforce heavyweight title challenger Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello in the main event for the vacant Powerhouse World Promotions (PWP), LLC Heavyweight Championship, headlining the “War on the Mainland” Pay Per View show live from Bren Events Center in Irvine, California.
“War on the Mainland,” presented by Powerhouse World Promotions, is being distributed by Integrated Sports Media at 10:00PM ET/6:00PM PT in North America on cable and satellite Pay-Per-View via iN Demand, DIRECTV, Avail-TVN and DISH Network, as well as Viewer’s Choice, Bell TV and Shaw PPV in Canada, for a suggested retail price of only $29.95. It will also be available in the United Kingdom via Primetime Live. The PPV card will also be streamed live on Internet PPV outside of the United States, Canada and United Kingdom by going to www.WarontheMainland.com and registering.
The 6’ 8”, 300-pound Sylvia has defeated many of the world’s top MMA heavyweights and super heavyweights, including Andrei Arlovski (2) Brandon Vera, Jeff Monson, Wes Sims, Ricco Rodriguez, Mike Whitehead (2), Ben Rothwell and Jason Lambert.
“In the MMA world,” Sylvia said, “I need to win this fight in fashion to make a statement that I’m back. We were supposed to fight once or twice and now it’s finally going to happen. It’s going to be a great fight and show. Jason’s (Lambert) fighting in the co-feature and he’s a great fighter.”
Sylvia (26-6-0), fighting out of Bettendorf, Iowa, is coming off of an impressive second-round submission of 5-time World’s Strongest Man, Mariusz “Dominator” Pudzianowski, in which Tim broke two toes that sidelined him for three weeks.
“I hit him (Pudzianowski) with three kicks at the end of the first round,” Tim explained. “The last one caught his knee and broke two of my toes. It’s no big deal. I’ve been back in the gym eight weeks getting ready for this fight.”
Buentello (6’ 2”, 250 lbs.), fighting out of Amarillo, Texas, has defeated “Tank” Abbott, Gary Goodridge, Justin Eilers, Mike Kyle and Kirill “Baby Fedor” Sidelnikov, among the more notables.
“Paul’s a gamer,” Sylvia noted. “He’s a good striker with a lot of knockouts. He likes to bang, just like me, and that’s what fans want to see.”
Sylvia-Buentello is one of three PWP title fights (5 X 5, all other fights are 3 X 5). Former WEC titlist Jason “The Punisher” Lambert (25-11-0) takes on 8-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Allan Goes (17-3-0) for the vacant PWP Light Heavyweight title belt, while former UFC title challenger Thales Leite (17-3-1) faces Strikeforce veteran Falaniko “Niko” Vitale (27-9-0) for the PWP Middleweight crown.
Former UFC lightweight champion Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (22-13-1), one of the most popular MMA fighters in the world, faces Diego “El Nino” Garijo (4-1-0) in a Special Lightweight Attraction.
Also fighting on “War on the Mainland” is Brazilian middleweight Gustavo “Ximu” Machado (18-8-1) vs. Rick Reeves (10-3-0) and Mexican welterweight Jorge “The Naked Man” Ortiz (16-5-1) vs. veteran Terry Martin (19-8-0).
Undercard fights featuring local fighters include lightweights Joao Silva (3-2-0) vs. Erin Beach (1-0-0), lightweights Cleber Luciano (3-3-0) vs. Todd Willingham (2-4-2), welterweights A.J. Mathews (3-0-0) vs. Sean Choice (1-0-0), and pro-debuting lightweights Evan Aitkins vs. Chad McCausland. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

TRAIN WITH COREY’S PARKEFORD, PA TRAINING FACILITY TO HOLD EXPANDED FACILITY OPEN HOUSE ON JULY 31, 2010
Posted on | July 19, 2010 | No Comments
Train With Corey, is excited to announce that it has expanded to now include TWO separate exercise rooms, a PRIVATE massage therapy suite, office, and kitchen area – nearly doubling in size since it first opened eight months ago.
The expanded facility is still in Longstreth Center at Route 724 and Wells Road in Parkeford, PA, with the new entrance now just two doors down from their previous location. We’re minutes from Pottstown, Stowe, Spring City, Sanatoga, and Phoenixville.
“We are very excited to occupy this new space”, shares Corey Dissin, owner and Head Fitness Motivator at Train With Corey. “It allows for additional exercise equipment along with plenty of extra room to offer larger group fitness classes.”
Although Train With Corey is growing, Dissin and his staff remain dedicated to personalized service and maintaining an atmosphere that’s comfortable and encouraging, “because we know that the ‘big box’ corporate owned mega-gyms can be intimidating for some folks.”
Train With Corey will be hosting an open house on Saturday, July 31st from 11:00am to 6:00pm for anyone that would like to see and tour their new facility. Visitors and their guests will have the opportunity to be introduced to Train With Corey’s FIVE trainers, and get a FREE chair massage from Mary Milton, TWC’s on-site massage therapist.
Light refreshments will be served and attendees can enter to win door prizes.
Kindly RSVP to (610) 505-2262 or info@trainwithcorey.com
