NEW YORK (February 1) . . . After 17 years the wait is over as sure-fire future Hall of Famers Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins and Roy “The Terminator” Jones Jr. collide in a long awaited rematch that will add the final chapter to their 17-year rivalry. The Rivals: Hopkins vs. Jones II is set for Saturday, April 3 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev. The bout will be broadcast live on pay-per-view beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
The fighters will participate in a press tour with stops in New York and Los Angeles next Tuesday and Wednesday, February 9 and 10, respectively.
Hopkins (50-5-1, 32 KOs) and Jones (54-6, 40 KOs), two of boxing’s most decorated and recognizable fighters who have given fans more than two decades worth of brilliant ring memories, will put it all on the line and leave no doubts as to who gets the bragging rights.
“A rematch with Roy has been in the back of my mind for a long time and it’s finally going to happen,” said Hopkins. “I have accomplished a lot in my career since that night in Washington, DC in 1993, and I am going to end this thing between me and Roy once and for all.”
“We’re giving the fans what they want to see. They deserve this fight and why not supply the fans with what they demand?” said Jones. “Now I can finally terminate the Executioner once and for all. My new nickname for this fight will be – The Terminator.”

WRESTLING HALL OF FAME LEGEND JACK BRISCO PASSES AWAY AT THE AGE OF 68

(Tampa, FL) – Friends and fans of the late WWE Hall of Famer, Jack Brisco, were saddened to hear that the legendary grappler passed away earlier today from heart complications.
Freddie Joe Brisco, known as Jack Brisco was a man who rose from meager beginnings to become successful in both amateur and professional wrestling.
As the first Native American to capture an NCAA wrestling championship, Jack won the national crown in the 171 poundage class for Oklahoma State University.
After college, Jack joined the ranks of professional wrestling where he dazzled competitors and fans alike with his tremendous wrestling skills. Besides winning the National Wrestling Association (NWA) world heavyweight title, Jack also grabbed the NWA world tag team belts with his partner and brother, Gerald Brisco.
“Jack was the best big brother in the world,” claimed Jerry (Gerald). “When I faced tough times as a youth, he was always there for me. He paved the way for me in both amateur and professional wrestling. We even went into business together as owners of Brisco Brothers Body Shop in Tampa. I feel blessed that we always remained close.”
During the 1970’s, Jack’s popularity soared when he participated in the famous Funk-Brisco matches. Dory Funk Jr. and Jack packed every house show in Florida plus Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis and arenas throughout Japan. “He was a super athlete and gave credibility to professional wrestling,” said Dory Funk Jr. who matched up against Jack for some 300 bouts.
Mike Graham, who wrestled extensively with Jack, had this to say, “There have been some great amateurs who turned pro, guys like Lou Thesz, Verne Gagne and Kurt Angle, but in my opinion, Jack Brisco was the greatest amateur turned professional in wrestling history.”
The late Gordon Solie often described Jack Brisco as a “class act, in and out of the ring.”
Politician, and former pro wrestler Brian Blair shared his thoughts, “Sadly we lost a Hero today, — Jack Brisco.
Jack was not only my child hood Hero — he was one of my very best friends. If Jack could just come to one more Lunch to say goodbye to everyone — If he could have one more Road Trip with us or pull one more “Rib” on someone — I pray that the Good Lord will comfort his soul and his Family. I know we will all miss Jack Brisco — The Legend, The best pure wrestler to ever wear the tights. Jack was a Husband, Father and one of my closest confidants: Jack, you will always be the “Champ!” May you rest in Peace Dear Brother! God Bless.”
For those fortunate to meet Jack in person, they were greeted with a great smile, a firm handshake and a pleasant but confident demeanor. He will not only be remembered as a tremendous athlete, but also as a wonderful human being.

MFC 24: Heat XC teams up top-notch names from the Maximum Fighting Championship with an undercard highlighted by some of the very best from Heat XC – all in one action-packed collaberation that will take place Friday, February 26 at the River Cree Resort and Casino.
Tonight, Heat XC president Dave Pavelich visits with Tapout Radio to discuss the upcoming event which will be topped by a main event pitting “The Texas Gunslinger” Yves Edwards against Derrick “The Eraser” Noble, plus a huge semi-main event with heavy-hitting light heavyweights David Heath and Dwayne Lewis.

Prizefighter Light-Middleweights line-up confirmed

PRIZEFIGHTER IS BACK!
Eight-man, one-night tournament returns with first light-middleweights event
PRIZEFIGHTER returns later this month with the first ever light-middleweights competition.
The event, which will be staged at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, east London, will be held on Friday, February 26.
The eight-man line-up includes the usual mix of talented, undefeated prospects and former champions including Ex-Commonwealth Champion Bradley Pryce and former British belt holder Neil Sinclair.
Seven fighters have been confirmed and the eighth spot will be offered to the winner of the Martin Concepcion v Kevin Hammond bout, which takes place on February 5 in Nottingham.
Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport’s Managing Director, was expecting another hugely entertaining evening of Prizefighter boxing on February 26.
“It’s another stunning line up for Prizefighter as more and more champions want to be involved,” said Hearn.
“We’re back at the York Hall – the home of British boxing – where it will be a guaranteed sell out and a great atmosphere.
“Once again it’s a mix of former champions trying to reignite their careers and young guns looking to make a big name for themselves but, as always, there can only be only one winner.”
This will be the tenth Prizefighter event where four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the final, each lasting a maximum of three rounds, take place in one thrilling evening.
A successful night at Prizefighter can transform a boxer’s career with many of the previous winners going on to fight for major titles.
The Prizefighter contenders are Prince Arron (Droylsden, Manchester), Danny Butler (Bristol), Brett Flournoy (Birkenhead, Merseyside), George Hillyard (Canning Town), Steve O’Meara (West Drayton, Middlesex), Bradley Pryce (Newbridge, Wales) and Neil Sinclair (Belfast).
Tickets cost £30 and £50 and can be bought from Matchroom Sport on 01277 359900. All the action will again be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

MFL 2 : Battlground lineup & info about fund raising for Haiti

Montreal, January 28th 2010 – The Mixed Fight League is extremely proud to reveal the MFL 2 : Battleground’s lineup, which will take place on February 27th 2010 at the Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard (located at 1000, ave. Emile-Journault in Montreal, Quebec). Battleground will be the second event to be presented by the Mixed Fight League and it already promises to be one of the better fight card that has ever been announced in Quebec for a long time.
The Mixed Fight League was pretty shocked to learn about magnitude of the tragedy in Haiti and decides to participate, like many other sporting organizations, in the Haitian relief efforts. The MFL will so give $2.00 per tickets sold to the Red Cross, as an effort to help with the fund raising for the earthquake victims, The headliner of the Battleground event, David Loiseau, has been particularly touched by the tragedy, has some of his friends and members of his family were numbers of the victims. It is really important for the MFL crew to support its fighters – and such a legendary athlete as David Loiseau – and their community by teaming up with them in their fund raising efforts.
Headlining the card, the former UFC middleweight contender, David « The Crow » Loiseau (18-9-0), will face the experienced Texan, Isidro « Chilo » Gonzales (16-13-0). David Loiseau will be back in the octagon for the first time since his loss to Ed Herman at the Montreal Bell Centre on April 18th 2009. His opponent, Gonzales, has excellent submission skills and already fought a lot of renowned fighters, such as UFC veterans Trevor Prangley, Rory Singer, Chad Reiner, Carlos Condit, Joe Riggs, Scott Smith and Josh Bukman. The two experienced warriors already know how to deal with the pressure to face tough opponents so the fans can expect a real war between the two of them, which should provoke a lot of sparkles on the battle ground.
In semi-final, former heavyweight and LNAH tough guy, the 205lbers Steve « The Boss » Bosse (6-1-0), will meet the biggest challenge of his career as he’s gonna take on the experienced UFC veteran, Marvin « The Beast » Eastman (16-12-1), who’s fighting out of Las Vegas, Nevada. Bosse, who already fought UFC vets such as Wes Sims and Icho Larenas in the past, is on a four victories winning streak and one more win against Eastman would definetly brings him under the international scene spotlights. Since he retired from hockey to fully dedicate himself to mixed martial arts, Bosse joined the reputed Tristar Gym to train with the best trainers and sparing partners. Eastman’s reputation precedes him and « The Beast » will be seeking for the victory to put an end on his losing streak to celebrate his 30th fight in career. The task will not be an easy one for Eastman, as the local favourite intend to show him who’s the boss…
Another warrior who is used to the battlefields, the soldier Bruno «Le Commando» Hosier (3-0-0), is leaving for war again as he will be facing the UFC veteran, Tom Murphy (5-0-0). The hostilities will reach their height between the two undefeated warlike who both want to preserve their perfect record. Only one will be able to achieve its mission and nobody can predict beforehand which of both giants will have the upper hand over his rival.
At 155 lbs, the experienced gladiator, Martin «The Hammer» Grandmont (9-4-0), who trains under Firas Zahabi, will try to erase his recent loss against Kurt Southern of his memory, as he’ll meet the European Sébastien «The Lynx» Garguier (5-3-0). Following his last appearance in the MFL’s octagon, Garguier found the road of victory with two consecutive submission’s wins. Confident in his skills, the protégé of the judoka and former Olympian Ferrid Kheder, doesn’t fear the former Canadian kickboxing champion. On the other side, Grandmont wants nothing less than prove he would be a serious potential first contender to an eventual title shot, as he’s openly seeking to get a second belt around his wrist in 2010.
The young sensation, Derek «Sex Machine» Gauthier (5-0-0) – one of the star (the Brute) featured in the docu-reality «Le Bum, les Belles et la Brute» produced by Anne-Marie Losique that will begin to air on Canal Illico pay per view on January 29th 2010 – will also put on his gloves on February 27th. The undefeated and redoubtable athlete will remove his jet-setter outfit to merge the sceptics and give a MMA clinic to Jesse Ronson ( 1-0-0 ). Ronson is a newcomer who already fought at Elite 1 in November 2009 where he got the win over Eric St. Pierre, which was much more experienced than him. Will Ronson be able to stand out as the MFL : Battlground revelation? There is only one thing we can be sure of : as the crowd favourite, local Gauthier will have an army of supporter to cheer for him.
Also on the main card, the explosive Dimitri Waardenburg (3-4-0), fighting out of Granby’s Speedy Gym, who just got a win over the young Drummondville’s rising star Pierre-Etienne Marcoux at the last MFL event, will be back in the cage to show his incredible striking skills. His opponent, Mark Fraser (1-4-1), who’s known as an old-school fighter, will deliver his second fight since he retired from competition in 2000. The fans must be prepared to see a whole new Fraser in the octagon on February 27th.
Also on the card, Louis-Philppe Carles, Nordine Taleb, Justin Poissant, Pierre-Etienne Marcoux, Lyndon Whitlock, Joey Gambino, Louis-Philippe Gauthier and Chris Vorano.

Ringside : Triple Threat official weigh-ins results

(For immediate release) – Montreal, January 29th 2010 – The Ringside : Triple Threat official weigh-ins took place at 1pm this afternoon, as scheduled, Days Hotel & Conference Centre located at 1005, Rue Guy à Montréal.
All the fighters have met the weight requirement, except Martin Grandmont and François Hache-Lacombe. We have to mention that Martin Grandmont has accepted to fight Southern only a few days ago, in replacement of Mike Ricci, who had to withdrawn.
Unfortunately, previous to the weigh-ins, Ringside MMA has learned that Christopher Boisvert had to call out due to health problems so the rematch between The Tank and Morin should be postponed to a future event, later in 2010.
