German Top Team BJJ Seminar

Peter Schira teaches in Metzingen

On Tuesday, December 22nd, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Blackbelt Peter Schira will teach a BJJ Seminar in the German Top Team Academy in Metzingen. Peter Schira is one of the few german Blackbelts in BJJ and got his rank directly from Professors Rolker and Royler Gracie in Brazil. Beside this fact he is the only german fighter so far, who has competed and won a BJJ Tournament in the Blackbelt Division in Brazil. He oversees the BJJ Training in the German Top Team and is responsible for the education and training standards of BJJ for the GTT.

The seminar starts at 6.00 pm and will last for app. at least three hours. The fee for the seminar is 30 Euro and there will be no additional fees for grading etc. The seminar is limited to 14 people and participators can register via E-Mail to Peter Angerer at angerer@german-top-team.com not later than December 20th.

Second Annual Masters Clinic and Show (This would be a nice Holiday gift certificate)

Call or email the gym if you plan on attending this year’s clinic. We are starting to make arrangements and need to know the number of participants. There have been many calls from people stating they plan on attending and seven have paid in full.

An added opportunity

ATTENTION MASTERS:

How would you like CompuBox round by round statistics available during and after each fight? CompuBox, the company that provides stats for live telecasts of HBO PPV, World Championship Boxing and Boxing After Dark, ESPN Friday Night Fights, VERSUS, Top Rank PPV as well as various other productions will be ringside at Gleason’s Gym counting each landed punch- in real time.

At the conclusion of the show, each fighter will receive a detailed round by round printout from his/her fight, complete with stats reflecting total punches landed/thrown/pct; jabs landed/thrown/pct. and power punches landed/thrown/pct. Each fighter’s CompuBox stats in each category could then be compared to the pros, in terms of punches landed/thrown per round per round and percentage landed- by division.

If requested, a “round of the night”/”fight of the night”/ could be determined based on most combined punches landed/thrown in a round/fight by both fighters, as well as most punches landed/thrown in a round/fight by one fighter. Cost per fighter: $50

Gleason’s Gym will host it’s second annual Masters Clinic and boxing show February 18-20,2010.

Thursday morning will be the arrival into New York. Orientation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:oo pm. The first workout will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A discussion on Masters boxing will be from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Free time after that.

Friday morning will have training from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. The afternoon session will run from 2 pm to 4:00 pm. A discussion on Amateur boxing and White Collar boxing will be from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Free time after that.

Saturday morning will have light training from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Match ups for the evening show will take place from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. An optional workout for those not competing in the evening show from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The weigh in for the show will be from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. The sanctioned Master Boxing Show will begin at 7:00 pm and will end by 10:00 pm.

The cost of the Clinic is $299.00.

Station Casinos’ Executives Out To Lunch Without a Cell Phone: What’s the Potential UFC Impact?

$900 an hour lawyers should know better than to come into a casino bankruptcy without an open dialogue going with state gaming regulators. Yet, Station Casinos attorneys were caught with their pants down by the Reno, Nevada judge handling the case recently. It seems there has been no effort to even contact state regulators yet, though the company is already deep into bankruptcy. This Las Vegas Review Journal Article Says it All:

Lack of talk in Stations’ bankruptcy case puzzles judge

Dana White Twitters with the best of them. Why can’t the Fertittas or their attorneys follow his outspoken lead and pick up a phone and talk to some regulators? Probably because they are worried and leery of regulators finding out what’s been going on there since the privatization of Station Casinos. That leveraged buyout is now being shrouded in conspiracy theories, and high-caliber lawyers are just now starting to dig into how that deal was done and who benefited most. We reported here on the suspicious lending anomalies regarding Station Casinos long before the bankruptcy was even looming. Frank Fertitta III had his signature on a few senior secured credit facilities for Station Casinos that are eerily similar to the one illustrated here (from a few years ago).

Another player, Vulture Capitalist Tom Barrack (His Colony Capital is part owner of Station Casinos and financed much of the buyout) is also raising eyebrows with billion dollar deals like this one. If the SEC slept on Bernie Madoff, they are in a coma in regards to this case and the tiers of corrupt players. From Xyience to Station Casinos, from Arc Investments to Zuffa this whole web of corruption is astounding in its scope and structure. This web is Global (Global Cash Access), National, and Local, and the longer it goes on unchecked the bigger the risk that MMA will end up with the black eye as a sport because of a few misguided people at the top levels of the sport. It is going to come crashing down at some point as all great schemes do. The Fertittas have made their money by borrowing upon borrowing and taking “dividends” from the company proceeds. They found a way to legally rape and pillage their own company with promises of a better tomorrow that turned out to be untrue.

Today, one can only hope the bankruptcy court and the regulators (whenever they do get involved) will find all the red flags and figure out what’s really been going on all these years. The brothers Fertitta will have to eventually face the music. It’s an open question as to how that will affect the UFC. If they have to shell out hundreds of millions of dollars in considerations and potential settlements with Station creditors, the family fortune may be so dwindled that they are forced to sell a large piece of the UFC organization to a friendly player. Mark Cuban or Vince Jr. (Shane McMahon) could be potential future insiders who wind up with controlling interests in the UFC if the Fertittas’ funding sources run out and their credit dries up. Whatever happens, keep your eye on this Station situation and watch for the ripple effect.

PHILADELPHIA (DECEMBER 11, 2009)—On Saturday night January 30th, Yusaf “Mack Attack” Mack will take a big step towards realizing his dream in becoming world champion as he battles former World Light Heavyweight champion Glen Johnson in an IBF Light Heavyweight eliminator at The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

The bout will be part of the big Shane Mosley – Andre Berto Welterweight unification card.

Mack of Philadelphia has a record of 28-2-2 with seventeen knockouts and is undefeated at Light Heavyweight as he has amassed a record of 5-0 with three knockouts since moving to the 175 lb division on a full time basis.

Mack catapulted into the Light Heavyweight scene when he took a ten round unanimous decision from Daniel Judah (22-2-3) on June 4th, 2008 to capture the NABA Light Heavyweight title.

He defended that title three months later when he stopped Omar Pittman (15-4-1) in six rounds in Philadelphia.

On February 6, 2009, Mack added the NABF Title when he defeated highly regarded and former world title Challenger Chris Henry via twelve round split decision in Salisbury, Maryland.

In Mack’s last bout he took out another former world title challenger DeAndrey Abron (15-4) in four rounds on May 30th in Hollywood, Florida.

“I think Glen is a good fighter but he is passed his prime. He is old and I am the one that will put him into retirement“, said Mack

“I am taking this because this is a big step for me and this will show the world that I am the next man in charge of the Light Heavyweight division.”

Johnson has a record of 49-13-2 with thirty-three knockouts was a three-time world title challenger before winning the IBF Light Heavyweight championship when he won a twelve round unanimous decision over Clinton Woods on February 6th, 2004.

Johnson sewed up the 2004 FIGHTER OF THE YEAR AWARD with wins over legendary Roy Jones Jr. (when he scored a memorable ninth round destruction over the former pound for pound king) and twelve round split decision over recognized Light Heavyweight champion, Antonio Tarver.

Johnson dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Tarver just six months later.

Johnson has received and lost three title opportunities (To Woods and two to Chad Dawson) and is coming off a twelve round unanimous decision to Chad Dawson on November 7th in Hartford, CT

The winner of this fight will be the IBF Number-one ranked Light heavyweight and will be the mandatory challenger to IBF champ Tavoris Cloud.
