LAS VEGAS (Nov. 20, 2009) – The great “Smokin’” Joe Frazier has joined a growing list of confirmed boxing legends attending the Dec. 11-13 “World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” (WGEB) festivities, highlighted by an awards dinner and U.S. vs. The World pro boxing show, at The Paris Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas.

Frazier joins a red-carpet list of “WGEB” nominees traveling to Las Vegas Vegas for the spectacular celebration of boxing legends, including Mike Tyson, Jeff Fenech, Carlos Ortiz, Aaron Pryor, Roberto Duran, Bob Foster, Tommy Hearns, Wilfredo Gomez and others.

Frazier embodied the tough Philadelphia fighter, giving and taking with the best, and he was best known for his vicious left hook. After capturing a gold medal at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, he made his pro debut 1965 and 2 ½ years later he captured the vacant New York State Athletic Commission heavyweight title, recognized as the world title in New York and four other U.S. states, by stopping previously unbeaten Buster Mathis in the 11th round at the famed Madison Square Garden.

Frazier is universally recognized for his incredible trilogy of fights against Ali, winning the first in 1975 by a 15 round decision for the WBC and WBA crowns.

During his celebrated 16-year pro career (1965-1981), “Smokin’” Joe defeated three world champions, including fellow “WGEB” nominees Ali and Bob Foster, in addition to just about all of the foremost heavyweights of his era. All four of his four pro losses were to world champions, twice apiece to Ali, and another “WGEB” nominees, Foreman.

PHILADELPHIA (November 19, 2009)—Sporty Smith & Penntucky Sports is proud to announce the signing of Eric “Murder” Mitchell and his twin brother Aaron “Homicide” Mitchell to it’s growing stable of boxers.

Eric Mitchell has a record of 22-6-1 with eleven wins coming by knockouts.

He won the NABA Middleweight title when he stopped former world title challenger Ross Thompson in June of 2001. He then stopped future IBF Super Middleweight champion, Alejandro Berrio on March 29, 2003 as part of the Bernard Hopkins-Morrade Hakkar undercard in Mitchell’s hometown of Philadelphia. In his next bout, Mitchell stepped in on less then twenty-four hours notice to take on former Welterweight and Super Welterweight champion Ricardo Mayorga. Mitchell fought admirably before dropping a ten round unanimous decision to Mayorga.

After four straight wins, Mitchell again stepped in a literally the last second as he took on Edwin Vazquez on about seventeen hours notice and scored a ten round unanimous decision to IBC America’s Jr. Middleweight title.

Mitchell is ready to get back in the win column after dropping two straight bouts to Danny Perez by a questionable disqualification and in his last bout dropping a ten round unanimous decision to former WBA Super Welterweight champion Joachim Alcine in Alcine’s hometown of Montreal.

Aaron Mitchell has a record of 27-1-1 with twenty-one knockouts.

Mitchell has not lost a fight in sixteen years and his only loss came to future Super Welterweight champion, Keith Mullings way back in 1993. Since that fight, Mitchell has gone a remarkable 25-0-1 with nineteen knockouts.

In 2006, Mitchell stopped Christopher Holt in the sixth round to capture the IBO Inter-continental Middleweight title. In his last bout, Mitchell scored a twelve round unanimous decision over Delray Raines to win the WBO NABO Middleweight title. That bout took place on November 21st, 2009.

‘The World’s Greatest Ever Boxer’ Three-Day Celebration Dec. 11-13 in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 19, 2009) – Boxing has traditionally been driven by heavyweights and many of the sport’s most recognizable figures through the years have fought in the highest-profile division.

The Heavyweight Division in the “The World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” promotion has two more nominees than the other seven divisions because the nominating committee was unable to limit the number to 10.

Ten of the Heavyweight Division nominees are in the International Boxing Hall of the Fame and the only non-members of this elite group, Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, are sure locks as soon as they’re eligible for nomination.

Sonsona and Hernandez to Come Face-to-Face Tomorrow Before Battle

TORONTO, ON (Thursday, November 19th, 2009) – Reigning WBO Junior Bantamweight champion “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KO’s) and his opponent Alejandro “Payasito” Hernandez (22-7-1, 11 KO’s) of Mexico City promised a war this Saturday night as the main event of Rumble at Rama X at Casino Rama, in Rama, Ontario.

The 19 year-old Sonsona, who captured the crown against Jose “Carlito” Lopez this past September via thrilling 12 round unanimous decision, promised to once again treat Ontario fight fans to another scintillating performance.

“When I first fought here in September, I was treated so well, and welcomed so warmly that I wanted to deliver a great performance to my new fans in Ontario.”

“Now that I’m back, I remember that feeling, and am willing to go through hell once again for my fans and my sport.”

For the 23 year-old Hernandez from Mexico City, Mexico, Saturday’s fight is his second crack at a world title – he dropped a 12 round unanimous decision to IBF Flyweight champion, Omar Andres Narvaez, of Argentina, in September of 2008 – and he is keen on returning home a world champion.

“This is what we dream of when we get into boxing. These chances are never guaranteed, and you must make the most of them when they come around,” Hernandez said.

“I’ve been blessed with a second chance at a world title, and I don’t plan on wasting it.”

In other action Saturday night, former IBF Junior Featherweight champion “The Canadian Kid” Steve Molitor (30-1, 12 KO’s, IBF #2) will lock horns with Argentina’s Jose “Pamperito” Saez (17-8-4, 8 KO’s) over 8 rounds in the evening’s co-main event.

“I’m in a position where I have to be patient and disciplined. I have a ranking to maintain if I want to get another crack at the world title, but at the same time, I have to feed my family,” Molitor said.
