K “WILD WILD” WEST VERSUS KASHA CHAMBLIN TO FIGHT ON UNDERCARD OF BRADLEY VS. PETERSON

Just over four months after scoring an impressive unanimous decision over a tough Rolanda Andrews in the Featherweight division, female sensation K “Wild Wild” West is preparing herself for another tough battle, this time, dropping down to her normal fighting weight in the Bantamweight division.
On December 12, 2009, West (11-1-0, 2 KO’s) will be squaring off against Louisiana native Kasha Chamblin (11-4-0, 5 KO’s) at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California in a bout that is sure to be a crowd pleaser. West is back on track of her pursuit for a world title and showing the boxing community that she is willing to put it all on the line in order to give the fans what they want…one hell of a slug out.
Taking time out of her training camp in Moreno Valley, California, West stated the following, “I’m stepping up in competition to prove to my fans and the world that I deserve a shot at a world title and I will be a World Champion soon.”
When speaking to Manager and Trainer Juan West, he indicated that, “I made some significant changes to K’s training camp and with the help of veteran trainers Ruben Castanon and Charlie Perez, K will be in the best shape of her career and definitely put on a spectacular performance.”
The talented Bantamweight contender will again be fighting on the undercard of her Southern California colleague and friend WBO World Light Welterweight Champion Timothy “Desert Storm” Bradley Jr. as he headlines the live Showtime main event. Bradley will be defending his title against interim WBO World Junior Welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson.

November 21, 2009.This Saturday Gleason’s Gym Amateur show is part of our Monthly Boxing Series. The club show will include JO, Novice, Senior and Master bouts.
The weigh in will begin at 5:00PM and the first bout will begin at 7:00PM.
All our bouts are pre-matched. They are sanctioned by USABoxingMetro. All boxers must have their boxing book with them in order to participate.
The ticket price is $20 per person. All gym members and registered amateurs with their books in hand pay $15 per person.
UFC Lightweight Prospect Joe Lauzon Heading Back Inside The Octagon

E. BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (Nov. 18, 2009) – A little more than eight months since undergoing knee surgery, UFC lightweight prospect Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (18-4, 5 KOs, 13 submissions) is fully recovered and anxious to get back into The Octagon.
Lauzon, star of The Ultimate Fighter 5 television reality show, had ACL surgery and his meniscus repaired on his right knee March 6. He is tentatively scheduled to return to UFC action in early January.
Joe has a torn ACL in his right knee for 1 ½ years before requiring surgery and being sidelined. “I felt looseness in my knee but could still train,” Lauzon explained. “Doctors at that time said they didn’t want to disturb it. And it wasn’t affecting me much. Two weeks before my last fight (Feb. 8, 2009 – WSUB2 vs. Jeremy Stephens) I felt it like it wasn’t quite right warming up. I tried to take him down in the first round and I fell over. I needed stitches in my head and couldn’t train for a week, but when I returned my knee completely locked-up.”
Doctors felt Joe wouldn’t be able to fight for 14 months, but he’ll be back in action in less than 10, largely due to a committed rehabilitation schedule and his age (24). “I’ve always been able to recover quickly and bounce right back,” he noted. “Being 24 probably helped, too. I was lucky to have an awesome doctor (Dr. Pavlovich) and physical therapist. They let me push at an aggressive pace. I am 100-percent now; my knee is stronger than ever. It (injured knee) hurt me grappling — triangle chokes – and anything my that stressed my knee felt loose. Now it’s better than ever. My ‘bad knee’ is more solid than my other knee. I did so much in rehab to strengthen it.”
“A lot of people have told me a mental block would be the toughest part coming back to fight. For me, though, that’s not a problem. I have faith in my doctor and coach. They told me my knee is strong, I feel the same way, and I’m not going to worry about it. I’ve always been an instinctive fighter and that’s the way I’m going to continue to be. I’ve talked to a lot of people. My strength-and-conditioning coach (Steve Baccari) has been through it all. He’s had surgery on both knees, so he knows where I am coming from. I know all about the knee now – where to apply pressure and where to be careful. ”
Lauzon not only fights, he coaches about 30 members of Team Aggression at Lauzon MMA in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. When he wasn’t able to workout, Joe played a lot of Xbox, watched a lot of TV and movies, and the Wentworth College graduate with a degree in computer science, naturally, spent a lot of time on line.
“I was still in the gym two weeks after surgery,” Lauzon concluded. “I was helping out and running classes. Before surgery, I was laid-up in bed but afterwards started going to shows to support and watch our guys fight. I just couldn’t get on the mat. Now, I’m ready to go and I’ve felt this way for a while. This has been my longest break. I’m chomping at the bit. I must have fought 30 times in six years, so I can’t wait to get back.”

Discovery of Puerto Rico Day Celebrated Three Weeks Before Two Fighters Meet In Ring at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico and live on Pay-Per-View
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO (November 18, 2009)-Five-hundred sixteen years ago tomorrow, Christopher Columbus landed on the northwest coast of a tiny island in what is now known as the Caribbean Sea on his second voyage to the New World, and called it San Juan Batista. Today, we know it as Puerto Rico (meaning “rich port”). On December 11, Ronald “Winky” Wright and Grady “Bad Boy” Brewer will be doing some landing of their own, in “Back to Business,” a match-up of middleweights at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, live on Pay-Per-View.

“When I meet Winky, it’s going to be a battle,” said Brewer. “Unlike Columbus who took Puerto Rico without a fight, Winky should expect a war on fight night.”
Discovery of Puerto Rico Day has recently become a prominent holiday in Boricua culture, since the infamous explorer landed there over five-hundred years ago. Powell Honored to Headline ‘World’s Greatest Ever Boxing Show’

“The World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” 3-day boxing spectacular Dec. 11-13 at the Paris Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS (Nov. 18, 2009) – IBF No. 6 rated junior middleweight Sechew “Iron Horse” Powell (25-2, 15 KOs) plans to take full advantage of the exposure and cache associated with headlining the “World’s Greatest Ever Boxing Show,” Dec. 12 at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, as part of a spectacular “World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” promotion that weekend at the same venue.
Powell (25-2, 15 KOs), fighting out Brooklyn, leads the U.S. team versus The World in team scoring competition against Brazilian knockout specialist Antonio “Mesquitinha Nejo” Mesquita (35-1, 27 KOs) in the 10-round main event. The card showcases sons of four former world champions – junior middleweight Ronald “The Chosen One” Hearns (22-1, 17 KOs), super middleweight Aaron Pryor, Jr. (12-2, 9 KOs) and Elijah McCall (4-0-1, 4 KOs) for the U.S., while junior middleweight John Jackson (4-0, 4 KOs), from St. Thomas, represents The World.
The “World’s Greatest Ever Boxing Show,” presented by The World Greatest Ever in association with Warriors Boxing, is part of a three-day boxing spectacular, Dec. 11-13 at The Paris, climaxing with “The World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” awards dinner the night following the boxing show.
Powell, a graduate of Northern Michigan University, hopes that an impressive victory against Mesquita will position him for a world title fight. The southpaw was a highly-decorated amateur, posting an incredible 149-7 record, including gold-medal performances in the 2000 U.S. National Golden Gloves Tournament and 2001 U.S. Nationals Championship.
As a pro, Powell’s most notable wins have been against world title challengers Santiago Samaniego (TKO3) and Robert Frazier, Grady Brewer (DEC8), winner of The Contender II, Cornelius Bundrage (TKO1), Archak TerMeliksetian (DEC10), Ishe Smith (DEC10), (DEC10) and Terrance Cauthen (TKO4).
“This fight December 12th is extremely important to me,” Powell said. “I haven’t fought since January and I want to show the public I’m still here and mean business. I’m hoping an impressive victory will get me some big fights and eventually a world title shot. I want to be a household name in boxing before I wrap-up my gloves. I don’t know a great deal about my opponent but he didn’t just wake-up 35-1 with 27 knockouts. He did it and got 27 opponents out of there. He’s definitely dangerous and that’s how I’m taking him. He knows how to win and winning builds confidence. I know he’s coming to put my lights out, but I’ll be trying the reverse, to put his lights out.
“I’m honored to have the opportunity to fight on this great card. I’m on a mission to make this my best performance. It’s really important for me to show my best to all of these legendary fighters (attending the show). I have to show them something special. They’re all serious fighters, so my goal is to be good, dominating, fast, strong and in excellent shape. To get a pat on the back after my fight from some of these greats would mean the world to me.”
Hearns, son of the great 8-time world champion Thomas “Hit Man” Hearns, meets Mexican veteran Victor Hugo “Magnifico” Correa (11-4, 6 KOs) in the 8-round co-feature.
Former world champions and nominees in “The World’s Greatest Boxer” promotion, Aaron “The Hawk” Pryor and Jeff “Marrickville Mauler” Fenech, are Team Captains for the US and World, respectively.
Pryor’s son faces Canadian import Jason “Friday The 13th” Douglas (7-1, 3 KOs), and 5-time African amateur champion, undefeated Ugandan lightweight Sharif “The Lion” Bogere (12-0, 7 KOs), takes on former Texas State titlist Adam Hernandez (14-7-2, 5 KOs), in two other 8-round matches.
In one of four scheduled 6-round bouts, hot prospect Jackson, son of former world champion Julian Jackson, throws-down with Jesus Vallejo (3-1, 3 KOs). Also fighting on the undercard is the son of former world heavyweight champ Oliver McCall, Elijah, who tangles with Puerto Rican heavyweight Ruben Rivera (2-2, 1 KO).
Two unbeaten featherweights prospects, 2004 Cuban Olympian Luis Franco (2-0, 2 KOs) and Efrain Esquivivias (6-0, 4 KOs), 2006 National Golden Gloves Tournament gold medalist, get it on in what could easily turnout to be the Fight of the Night. Two-time US National super heavyweight champion Mike Hunter, Jr., the popular son of the late NABF heavyweight champion Mike “The Bounty” Hunter, makes his much-anticipated pro debut against Mexican heavyweight Alvaro Morales (3-6-5).

Yuri Foreman-Champion of the World

Yuri Foreman unanimously defeated former champion Daniel Santos to win the WBA Junior Middleweight World Championship. The fight took place last Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Yuri dominated the fight scoring two knockdowns on his way to the victory. All three judges gave the decision to Yuri by wide margins.
Yuri Foreman is the first Jewish champion since 1932 and the first Israeli boxing world champion in history.
He is also the 132nd world champion out of Gleason’s Gym.
