Reno, Nev. – Grand Sierra Resort and “Let’s Get It On” Promotions welcome Rick Reeves and Kito Andrews who will go head-to-head in the main MMA event 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 in the Grand Theatre.
Presented by “Let’s Get It On” Promotions in association with Grand Sierra Resort and Casino and Xtreme Sports Bar + Lounge, the event will feature four boxing and three mixed martial arts bouts, rounding out a combination of talents and styles.

Reeves is a Reno, Nev. native with a record of 10-3 and will take on Sacramento, Calif. born Andrews, who is 5-2, in a six-round middleweight bout. Other MMA matchups include Devin Conkling of Reno, Nev. vs. Frankie DiMartino of Carson City, Nev. in a three-round bantamweight bout and an additional MMA bout which will be announced at a later date.
The main boxing match will feature sensational prospect Brandon Gonzalez of Sacramento, Calif. in a six-round middleweight bout. Other boxing matchups include Andrew Rempp of Yerington, Nev. vs. Johnny Mancilla of Reno, Nev. in a four-round junior lightweight bout. Bayan Jargal, of Mongolia, will go six rounds in a lightweight bout and his opponent will be announced on a later date. Derek Hinkey will take part in a 6-round middleweight bout and his opponent will also be announced at a later time.
Reno Xtreme Fights is an ongoing relationship among Grand Sierra, Xtreme Sports Bar + Lounge and “Let’s Get it On” promotions. Future fight dates will be announced at a later time.
An open workout will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Elite Fitness in Reno and the weigh-in is 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at Xtreme Sports Bar + Lounge.

LAS VEGAS (November 12, 2009)-Weekend action for FIREPOWER: Pacquiao vs Cotto will begin Saturday with a pre-fight feature show that will capture both live action of the non pay-per-view televised undercard, interviews with main event fighters Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto hours before their showdown and finally the red-carpet look and feel of a big time fight including celebrity arrivals and interviews.
The show will be broadcast live on Direct TV, Dish Network and inDemand from 4:00pm-5:30pm Pacific time (PT). For further viewing information check your local cable operator and satellite provider.
As part of the special broadcast three undercard bouts will be featured including two with Pacquiao countrymen Richie Mepranum, in a six round flyweight bout against Ernie Marquez and General Santos’ Eden Sonsona against Elon Kedem in a six round bantamweight fight. The third fight on the show is a six round middleweight fight between undefeated Russian Olympian upstart Matt Korobov and Mustafah Johnson.
Longtime boxing broadcasters and analysts Tony Paige and Rich Marotta will call the show, joined by actor Andre Royo-from HBO’s® critically acclaimed series THE WIRE who will talk to celebrities to get their opinion on the big fight and Courtney Mazza will interview both Pacquiao and Cotto hours before they step into the ring.

HARRISON: HAYE WILL INSPIRE ME TO GLORY

PRIZEFIGHTER Champion Audley Harrison believes David Haye will inspire him to win boxing titles in 2010.
Haye claimed the WBA Heavyweight Championship on Saturday and Harrison believes the victory acts as an incentive for the rest of the British heavyweights.
“I was motivated to achieve my goals already, but David’s win and publicity has given me more fuel to get back to the top,” said 38-year-old Harrison.
“I’m ticking over in Los Angeles and can’t wait to get going again. 2010 will be a beautiful thing as I shock the world.”
Harrison, who won an Olympic gold medal in 2000, was facing the end of his professional career after a defeat against Northern Ireland’s Martin Rogan in December 2008.
However, Harrison saved his career by winning Barry Hearn’s Prizefighter Heavyweights 3 last month as victories over Scott Belshaw and undefeated duo Danny Hughes and Coleman Barrett saw him lift the trophy.
“I really enjoyed the experience of Prizefighter,” added Harrison. “The contests were all exciting and my three opponents all brought something different to the table.
“The atmosphere was fantastic and I thought the whole production and media attention was spot on.
“I was running out of opportunities to achieve my goal so it was important I came and produced the performances I did. Onwards and upwards.”
The next event in the Prizefighter Series takes place at the National Hall, Olympia, London, on Friday, December 4.
It will be the first ever light-welterweight tournament and the eight-man line-up includes former World, European and British Champions.
Harrison admits he finds it difficult to predict the winner, although he expects former WBA World Champion Gavin Rees to be a strong challenger.
“David Barnes and Colin Lynes could meet in final, depending on the draw, but Gavin Rees will put up fierce resistance and could be the guy to win it,” said Harrison.
“But Michael Grant is my dark horse to make the final. Looking at the records and experience of the fighters, it’s hard to pick a clear winner and I think these bouts will be evenly contested, which will make for a cracking night.
“The tactic I used was to stay patient, wait for my opponents to make mistakes and make them pay.
“Good fitness is required to be successful in this tournament format so it’s no good having a war in your first bout. The ideal tactics are to control the bout, win without losing too much energy and then pick it up for the semis and final.
“The favourites need to focus on each and every opponent they face and not underestimate their opponents as (current British Heavyweight Champion) Danny Williams did in our event.
“Danny’s punch resistance is totally gone, but probably would’ve beaten Carl Baker had he not been so obsessed with me.”

PRO LEATHER TRAINING GLOVES REVIEW BY “RABBLE ROUSIN'” RICH BERGERON

Elitemma.com sent me a set of 16 0z. Pro Leather Training Gloves made by Everlast a few weeks ago. The video above shows the product in use, and I would also like to explain a few things you can’t quite appreciate from watching the film.
The timing bag I use can be tough to work with, and regular bag gloves really bang my knuckles up unless I use excessive padding with them. These new gloves only require a little knuckle pad, they are heavy enough to help simulate sparring, and the leather is extremely durable.
I’ve had a few sparring sessions over the last few months that really convinced me I need to start practicing with a heavier set of gloves. These gloves are virtually perfect. They are definitely helping already, as I feel stronger and have more muscle endurance now that I’ve been using them for a few weeks.
I only have a two limited gripes. First, I had to cut the elastic above the velcro near the heel of the hand area. This strip was really cutting off my circulation, and I don’t know if they make larger sizes. My hands are not particularly big, and I don’t use a lot of hand wrapping. Second, even without the elastic band, the gloves themselves feel a bit small and sometimes make my fingers fall asleep while I’m hitting the bag.
All in all I am sure the issues I have will go away as I break these gloves in and get used to working with them. This is the first time I have trained with gloves like this, so I’m still learning. Removing the elastic doesn’t seem to hurt the integrity of the gloves, but there doesn’t seem to be any fix for the lack of hand space inside the gloves unless these come in different sizes as well as weights. I have noticed the more I use them the better they feel, though. If you have pretty big hands, you may want to try another set of gloves. Elitemma.com has a great selection.
