TDR’s mobile Brute adidas studios will hit the road this Saturday for our third LIVE road show of the year. Join Scott Casber and Steve Foster for what has now become a tradition on TDR.
We’ll talk with the wrestlers, the coaches and some of the fans that will be on campus. Our host for the weekend is Kevin Jackson and his Cyclones. We’ll broadcast from the rec center on campus in Ames. Please feel free to tune in and listen at Takedownradio.com. Video is planned as well and in addition We’ll video tape portions of the day for TDR TV news.

Amputee Matt Betzold, who won submission in RITC 135, is also scheduled to compete.

“Irish” Joey McCreedy:
“What I just heard, I’ve heard my whole career – I’m going to take you out. My last opponent said that and look what happened to him. He went out on a stretcher. I have to give him respect. He was in there with (Jeff) Lacy and he won that reality show. I never saw it. Everybody who knows me knows I give everything in the ring. I’m not much for talking unless my opponent does a lot of talking. I will knock him out…I will! I’m not holding back anymore. When I win this fight, I’m looking for a bigger fight on television. Even if he hits me with his biggest punch, he can’t hurt me. November 20th is going to be a war.”
Otis “Triple OG” Griffin (taped): “I’ve had an opportunity the past few weeks to spar with Chad Dawson and Mikkel Kessler. I know Joey McCreedy is a blue-collar guy who is coming to fight. Styles make fights. I have to get past his jab and get him out. If I don’t get him out, I’ll box his ears off.”
Jaime “The Hurricane” Clampitt: “My last fight was here. I’m very excited. Coming back (Jaime had a baby March 17th) is tough. Three people really supported in helping me make my decision to comeback to boxing – my husband, Ryan Hayes, trainer Kurt Reader and promoter, Jimmy Burchfield. The only question Jimmy had was if I was in shape. Here I am fighting November 20th.”
Danny O’Connor: “I live in Framingham, Massachusetts but the last three years I’ve trained in Rhode Island. I consider it my second home. I enjoy training and fighting here. I’ve been to a lot of shows at Twin River, too. A lot of my fans are coming. It’s going to be a great night.”
Vladine Biosse: “I look at myself as the hardest worker in boxing. I put in the work, in and out of the gym, two, sometimes three, times a day. This fight is very special. I’m on weight and very prepared to come in and do what I’m supposed to do – get him out of there. I’m bringing my URI guys and Rhode Island fans. I will be Irish for the night (there is an Irish theme for the show). It’s going to be a great show. I love what I do.”
Maceo Crowder: “It’s been a short while; I fought as an amateur only five years. My biggest inspiration is my brother, Demetrius (“Boo Boo”) Andrade (2008 US Olympian). November 20th is going to be my pro debut. I have my own identity. I don’t want publicity off of ‘Boo Boo.’ We’re two different people and two different fighters.”

Shawn Porter to Walk Pacquiao into Ring Saturday Night!

Los Angeles, CA – 2008 US Olympic alternate Shawn “Showtime” Porter will lead superstar Manny Pacquiao into the ring Saturday night for his showdown with WBO Welterweight champion Miguel Cotto.
Porter, 10-0 (8 KO’s), served as Pacquiao’s primary sparring partner and played the role of Cotto during his six weeks in camp. While swapping punches with the best fighter in the world was often a grueling task, Porter was grateful for the opportunity.
“”It’s truly an honor that Team Pacquiao brought me into camp” said Porter, whose intense sparring with Pacquiao was featured on HBO’s Emmy Award winning 24/7 series. “It was a lot of fun, a great learning experience and something I will remember far beyond my years as a professional fighter.”

In the co-featured bout of the evening, unbeaten junior welterweight prospect Danny Garcia from Philadelphia is already a hometown favorite and will now fight for the first time in front of his local fans as a professional when heputs his perfect 14-0 record on the line in a 10 round bout against the dangerous Enrique Colin of Guasave Sinaloa. Unbeaten in 14 professional fights, Philadelphia’s Danny “Swift” Garcia (14-0, 9 KO’s) is getting better each time he steps through the ropes. Just 21-years old, Garcia has had a big 2009 campaign, amping up the level of competition and continuing to impress the boxing community in defeating seasoned veterans Cristian Favela, Humberto Tapia, Pavel Miranda and Oscar Leon. On December 2, he plans on closing out the year with his fifth win of 2009, but will have to get past another tough opponent in Enrique “Colinsillo” Colin (23-4-3, 19 KO’s) of Guasave, Mexico. Colin, winner of six of his last seven fights, will look to spoil Garcia’s homecoming plans.
Former amateur star Karl Dargan (5-0, 2 KO’s) has not skipped a beat in his transition to the professional ranks and he has really picked up the pace in 2009 with three spectacular victories. The 24-year-old Dargan really wants to make an impression on December 2, when he fights in his hometown for the first time as a professional against Carolina, Puerto Rico’s Samuel Santana (2-3-2) in a six round lightweight contest.
Newark, New Jersey’s Mike Perez (5-0-1, 2 KO’s), a 2008 National Golden Gloves Champion, has won three in a row in 2009 while fighting on some of the biggest boxing events of the year in Los Angeles, Houston and Las Vegas. “The Artist” is more than happy to close out 2009 with just a drive down the turnpike as he battles Ron Boyd (6-9, 2 KOs) of Washington, DC in a six round lightweight bout.
Twenty-year-old featherweight prospect Derrick Wilson (5-0-1, 2 KO’s) burst onto the national scene in July when he knocked out then undefeated and highly touted prospect Charles Huerta in just 59 seconds. On December 2, the Fort Myers, Florida native returns to the ring for the first time since his signature win when he takes on an opponent to be determined in a six round contest.
Local cruiserweight favorite Teneal Goyco (3-0, 1 KO) has built a positive reputation in his hometown, winning over the knowledgeable fans at the Blue Horizon with two big victories this year. Now he’ll look to make it 4-0 as a professional in a four round fight against fellow Philadelphian Lamont Barnes (2-3, 2 KO’s).
Opening the show will be Philadelphia amateur star Julian Williams, who will make his professional debut against Ivan Ziglar (1-2-1, 1 KO) of Virginia Beach, Virginia in a four round junior middleweight scrap.
