St. Paul, MN – Unbeaten Super Middleweight “Golden” Caleb Truax will vie for his first title Friday November 20 against former world champion Carl Daniels in the main event of Seconds Out Promotions’ “The Golden Era” live from the St. Paul Armory.
Truax, 13-0 (9 KO’s), has been impressive thus far during his young career. The Osseo, MN native stopped five of his last six opponents, including an impressive TKO over veteran Patrick Perez in July.
Daniels, of St. Louis, MO, is a former WBA Junior Middleweight champion and fought the likes of Bernard Hopkins, Julio Cesar Green, Julio Cesar, Laurent Boudouani and Chad Dawson. The 69 fight veteran is Truax’ most experienced foe to date.
The Truax-Daniels matchup is scheduled for ten rounds, with the winner claiming the IBA Americas Super Middleweight championship.
In the co-featured bout of the evening, hard hitting Welterweight Muhammad “African Assassin” Kayongo of St. Paul returns following a one year absence to challenge James Todd of the United Kingdom. Kayongo, 14-2 (10 KO’s) and Todd, 2-1-1 (1 KO) are scheduled to do battle over 10 rounds for the IBA Intercontinental Welterweight title.
Kayongo-Todd is expected to be far more competitive than it looks on paper, as the latter was an elite amateur, former member of the Calzaghe Training Camp and now part of the illustrious Talon Boxing Camp in Big Bear, CA.
Former amateur star Michael Faulk of St. Paul takes on Ryan Soft, 1-0-1 (1 KO), of North Dakota in a four round Junior Middleweight bout. Faulk, 1-0 (1 KO), was rated the #2 amateur in the nation by USA Boxing.
Middleweights Charles Meier, 3-1 (2 KO’s), and Josh Rodriguez, 4-10 (3 KO’s) will meet over four rounds. Marvin Rodriguez, 2-2 (1 KO), challenges Silas Ortey, 4-7 (3 KO’s), also in a four round Middleweight affair.
Super Bantamweights Felix Martinez of Bloomington, MN squares off against Ugandan Phillip Adyaka in a four rounder. Martinez and Adyaka are both looking for their first professional victory.
Mixed martial artist Derek Abrams meets Caleb Wolf over three 5 minute rounds in the Featherweight (145 lb) division and Welterweight Jedidiah Jones makes his debut against an opponent TBA, also in a three rounder.
Lightweight prospect Jeremy McLaurin, 5-0 (4 KO’s), and local favorite Jon “The Iron Man” Schmidt, 9-1 (6 KO’s) are slated to appear in separate bouts.

Caramelito Promotions´ third show – Katajisto, Jack, Selesmaa, Antman

The personal coach for reigning Finnish national and Baltic (BBU) heavyweight champion Juho Haapoja, Petro “El Caramelito” Koskimies with his Caramelito Promotions – professional boxing stable will promote his third pro boxing show in Vaasa Finland on the 14th November. The show is called as “NÄYTÖN PAIKKA – SHOWTIME”.
The upcoming show will contain four international professional boxing fights with some local amateur fights. Pro fights will be started by Petter Antman, 29, (3-0, 1KO) who is managed by Miika Forsström. In the second fight Jaakko Helminen´s boxer Aki ”Boogieman” Selesmaa, 33, will try to continue his KO-artist road in a fight which is scheduled 6 round just like Antman´s fight does.
The internationally best known fighter on the card is Swedish Badou Jack, 25, who represents Caramelito Promotions co-operation partner McClory Sports from the neighboring country. Jack who is now 3-0 with 2 KOs has magnificent amateur background with 150 fights with 128 victories among other achievements Jack took part in Olympic Games 2008 and also he is 6-time Swedish national amateur champion in 2002-2008. Badou Jack has already once fought in the show promoted by Caramelito Promotions. That time Jack knocked out his Russian opponent in just 47 seconds!
In the main event there is 4-round scheduled heavyweight fight with Caramelito Promotions´ Janne “Finnish Butterbean” Katajisto, 31. The former two-time Finnish national amateur Super-Heavyweight champion started his pro career back in August by KO 1 victory over a Russian opponent and continued his victorious walk on mid-September over Hungarian Ferenc Zsalek (now 7-11, 1KO) by points in 4 rounds.
All opponents will be announced at the press conference on the 4th November.

Women Warriors and Iowa Boxing Icon Featured in MaxFightsDM Ballroom Brawl III

From Combat to the Cage, Woman Warrior Steps Up to the Klinefelter Challenge. Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Honors Boxing and Iowa Legend John Roby With Lifetime Achievement Award at MaxFightsDM Ballroom Brawl III.
Des Moines, IA- October 23, 2009- The highly anticipated women’s pro mixed martial arts (MMA) bout featuring fighter phenom Emily Klinefelter has just become as charged as a powder keg. Klinefelter was originally set to fight Brittany Dale during the MaxFightsDM Ballroom Brawl III event at the Val Air Ballroom on Friday, November 13. Dale, suffered a dislocated elbow while training that was serious enough to prevent training, and ultimately pulling her from the fight.
As interest for the fight generated inquiries from around the country, and the world, MaxFightsDM, and match maker Brian Green, was able to quickly secure a worthy opponent, naming U.S. Army National Guard soldier Nately Jerez. The California native has just returned from Iraq, where she was assigned to gun trucks providing security against insurgents and roadside bombs for U.S. military convoys. Jerez is an accomplished martial artist, owning an 18-6-1 Muay Thai record, as well as winning a recent military submission grappling tournament in Kuwait.
Given Klinefelter’s amazing fight pedigree, one that includes 15 national and international amateur boxing titles, and well as undefeated pro boxing (6-0) and MMA (5-0) records, a fighter with the training and toughness of Jerez was required in order to stand the test. “Nately is an explosive fighter, and is lightning quick”, stated Iowa Army National Guard Sergeant, and pro MMA fighter, Vern Jefferson. While stationed in the Middle East, Jerez participated on the Iowa Jiu Jitsu team, and has sparred with Jefferson. Based on relationships Jerez formed with Iowan’s, and the prominence of MMA in the state, she set a personal goal to fight her pro MMA debut here. MaxFightsDM is pleased to make her goal possible, and proud to present a true American hero as part of our promotion. Klinefelter went on record with the same sentiment.
Another Iowa icon will be recognized when John Roby, former IBO Junior Lightweight World Boxing Champion (1993-95), is presented a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Iowa Athletic Commission. Roby is perhaps the most prodigious boxer originating from Iowa, logging an exhausting lists of fights around the world over his nearly 20 year fighting career. Throughout his career, he was benefitted through a relationship with the Mayweather boxing dynasty, including his training with Roger Mayweather, as well as his 12 round fight with Jeff Mayweather. Roby was able to parlay his boxing experience and success on to MMA, training many Iowa MMA fighters on boxing techniques, placing particular focus on hand speed. “We’re entirely pleased to provide the recognition John deserves, and may not have received during his career. He definitely has great experiences, and proud memories to look back on. We hope this award works to tie them all together.”, stated Iowa Deputy Athletic Commissioner, Joe Walsh. The award will be presented mid-point during the MaxFightsDM November 13 event.

YONKERS, N.Y. (October 23, 2009) – No Freddy Kruegers, Jasons or even Frankensteins are fighting on October 30th (Halloween Eve) pro boxing card at the Yonkers Armory, but “Halloween Havoc” will feature some of New York’s most promising and entertaining young boxers.
O’Shea Brothers Boxing Promotion is bringing old-school boxing back to the fans, showcasing hungry fighters in action-packed, competitive bouts.
Puerto Rican heavyweight Alexis Mejias (10-1, 4 KOs), fighting out of Paterson, New Jersey, headlines against Josh Harris (3-3-1, 2 KOs) in the 6 round main event.
In two other 6-rounders, fan favorite “Crazy” Eddie Irizarry (7-1, 2 KOs) battles featherweight Joey Arroyo (2-1, 0 KOs) for Bronx bragging rights in the co-feature, while 1-0 bantamweights with a common past, Raul Lopez (1-0, 1 KO) and Jose “Chilli” Rivera (1-0, 0 KOs), rekindle their rivalry that started in the amateurs with Lopez winning two of three matches.
Highly-touted African welterweight prospect Issouf Kinda (5-0, 3 KOs), now living in Harlem, faces Melchor Guillen, Jr. (2-3 (1 KO) in a 4-round welterweight bout.
