CARINA MORENO VS. ANABEL ORTIZ

(October 21, 2009) – Four-time world champion, Carina “La Reina” Moreno (21-1, 6 KO’s) makes her way back to the ring October 31, 2009 when she defends her WBC minimumweight title against Anabel Ortiz (3-1, 1 KO’s) in a co-main event bout. The fight takes place at the “Gimnasio Del Imcufide” in Toluca, EDO. Mexico.

“I’m grateful to be back in the ring, defending my title,” Moreno said. “It’s been a long layoff since my last fight and I can’t wait to get in there and let my hands go. I’ve been training in the high altitude up here in Lake Tahoe. My training camp has been fantastic. I want to thank Gary Marinovich, my new speed, coordination and balance coach for all his hard work. My goal is to perform at my highest level and give the fans in attendance a great show.”

In January 2000, Roy Jones defended his light heavyweight title on the same stage graced by the world famous Radio City Rockettes. That event generated the highest single night gross in Radio City’s history. Having one more MSG venue record to break, Wynne booked a world welterweight title fight between Shane Mosley and Vernon Forrest in January 2002 held in The Theater at Madison Square Garden. That event generated the highest single night gross in the history of MSG’s Theater. As a result of these accomplishments, International Boxing Digest named Wynne one of “The 25 Most Influential People in Boxing.” He was the only arena or casino executive named to this list.

Molitor to Face Argentine Escobar at Rumble at Rama X

“Canadian Kid” Continues Climb Back for Second 122 lb. World Title Reign

RAMA, ON (Wednesday, October 21, 2009) – With his sights firmly set on another crack at a world title, former IBF Junior Featherweight world champion Steve “The Canadian Kid” Molitor (30-1, 12 KO’s) returns to the ring on Saturday, November 21st, to face capable, battle-tested, Argentine warrior Sergio Javier Escobar (11-8-1, 2 KO’s), at Rumble at Rama X, in Rama, Ontario.

The eight round showdown will be the evening’s co-feature, just prior to 19 year-old Pilipino phenom Marvin Sonsona (14-0, 12 KO’s) defending his WBO Junior Bantamweight world title for the first time, against Mexico City’s Alejandro Hernandez (22-7-1, 11 KO’s). Molitor rebounded from his devastating loss last November to unified 122 lb. world champion Celestino Caballero with a hard-fought split decision win this past June over Heriberto Ruiz to capture the IBF’s number two ranking, guaranteeing himself a spot in an IBF world title eliminator. Molitor followed up the win over Ruiz with a convincing 5th round KO over Dario Azuaga at Rumble at Rama IX, and is looking for another impressive outing to further serve notice that he’s ready to reclaim his world crown.

“We need Steve to be as sharp and focused as possible when the IBF decides to proceed with either an eliminator, or a title fight to fill a vacancy,” said Allan Tremblay, President of Orion sports Management. “And believe me, Escobar will make sure Steve is sharp. Don’t let an 11-8-1 record fool you, Escobar is a tough as they come. He’s won two in a row, and just scored a unanimous decision over a fighter with a 14-1 record.”

Indeed, Escobar’s 11-8-1 resume has the makings of a very dangerous mirage, should Molitor not be fully prepared for war. Escobar is coming off the biggest win of his career, a unanimous decision over hard-punching Julian Aristule. Combine that momentum with the fact that the energized Escobar has never been stopped, and has nothing to lose, and Molitor may be looking at a battle of survival as opposed to a chance to get in some rounds. Held in Casino Rama’s state-of-the-art 5,200 seat Entertainment Centre, the Rumble at Rama series has firmly established the Casino as the premier venue in which to see the Big Time Excitement of a world-class fight in Ontario.

MIXED FIGHT LEAGUE FIRST EVENT RESULTS

(For immediate release) Montreal, Monday October 19th, 2009 – The Mixed Fight League – in partnership with Bud Light, Head Rush Clothing and Best Western Hotels – held its inaugural event, “MFL 1 : The Beginning,” at the Montreal’s Complexe Sportif Claude-Robillard on Saturday, October 17th.

Eleven action-packed bouts were presented in front of an excited and cheering crowd. It has to be mentioned that some well known personalities such as UFC veterans David Loiseau, Jonathan Goulet and Georges St-Pierre were there to support some of their teammates who were fighting.

“For a first promotion experience, we’re particularly proud of the result and the support we got from the fans,” mentioned Guy Poulin, co-founder of the Mixed Fight League. “As expected, we got a heavy and noisy crowd and I have to say that the atmosphere was incredible on that night. We have to admit that the athletes, who trained for several weeks to deliver such great fights and give an awesome show, are mainly part of our success,” conclude Poulin.

His partner, Dirk Waardenburg added : “For sure, we’re going to make some adjustments in the following weeks to make sure we’re gonna be able to impress with a better production quality for the second show, but globally, we’re more than fully satisfied of the results.”

Everything has been thought to amuse the fans and make sure they were all comfortable : two giant screens were deployed, the Head Rush Brand clothing company was there for some promotional activities with the sulfurous and beautiful Olivia Ambar (from the TV reality show “Occupation Double” broadcasted on TVA) as special guest appearance, the DRL Airbrush company offered their services to personalize fans t-shirts and the excellent and entertaining trapeze artists from the Magic Air Trapeze troupe executed themselves during the intermission. Out of the spotlights, fans and athletes were reunited after the show at the Montreal’s nightclub La Boom for the “MFL 1 : The Beginning” after-party. Here are the “MFL 1 : The Beginning” results :
