Reno, Nevada (October 19th, 2009) – Let’s Get It On Promotions is proud to announce the signing of top middleweight prospect Brandon “Flawless” Gonzales 8-0 (7 KOs) to an exclusive promotional contract.

At a press conference on Wednesday at Sacramento, California’s Avalon nightclub, Let’s Get It On Promotions and Brandon Gonzales announced that they have entered into a promotional agreement.

Gonzales has already compiled an undefeated record as a pro. All but one of his eight wins have come by way of knockout – four of those have occurred in the first round. Before turning pro, Gonzales was regarded as one of the top amateurs in the country at light heavyweight. After medaling in several national and international tournaments and competitions, he was ranked as the # 1 U.S. amateur in 2005. Since then, he comfortably moved down to 160 lbs and plans to campaign in that division.

“I’m excited about fighting under the Let’s Get It On Promotion’s banner along with their other talented fighters.” Says Gonzales. “I am ready to work hard, and fight for a world title someday.”

His electrifying style has made him a popular draw in his hometown of Sacramento, CA. Team Gonzales plan to have him fight in Reno, NV on December 11th. Details will be announced shortly.

The card Dec. 12 features the International Boxing Federation’s No. 6 junior middleweight, Sechew Powell of Brooklyn, N.Y., against Antonio Mesquita of Brazil in the main event, plus six other fights pitting boxers from the United States against fighters from other countries.

Four of the boxers the are sons of former world champions–Elijah McCall, Aaron Pryor Jr., Ronald Hearns and John Jackson–and two of the fathers, Aaron Pryor and Thomas Hearns, are nominees for the “World’s Greatest Ever Boxer.”

The card is promoted by Seminole Warriors Boxing of Davie, Fla.

At the awards gala the age-old question about who are the all-time greatest boxers finally will be answered. Muhammad Ali was the self-proclaimed “Greatest.” But was it really Ali or, instead, “Sugar” Ray Robinson or Joe Louis? And then there are current boxers such as Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao?

The winners in the eight original weight divisions plus “The World’s Greatest Ever Boxer” will be announced Dec. 13, the final day of a three-day celebration of these outstanding boxers in Las Vegas.

Tachi Palace Fights back in action December 3

Lemoore, Calif. – Tachi Palace Fights will ride the momentum from its inaugural show on October 8 with its second show on Thursday, December 3.

“I know it’s just our second show, but it’s shaping up to be one of the best yet at the casino,” Tachi Palace Fights match maker Richard Goodman said. “This fight card is going to have a little bit of everything on it… the big names, locals and interesting matchups.”

The main event should be a big one both internationally and locally, as one of Central California’s brightest young stars is pitted against an international force.

Parlier, Calif. middleweight Mike Moreno (5-2) takes Paris, France’s Xavier Foupa-Pokam (20-11) in what some are saying has fight of the year written all over it for California fight fans.

“Everyone has been waiting to see Moreno get back in action and we couldn’t have found a better opponent in Professor X,” Goodman said.

In the co-main event Las Vegas, Nev. featherweight Eddie Yagin (13-3-1) clashes Atlanta, Ga.’s Diego Saraiva (13-8-1).

“This is the type of fight that is usually associated with a belt,” Goodman said. “Yagin has become a fan favorite in Lemoore, especially after his win over Casey Olson and everyone knows how talented Diego is.”
In a pair of feature bouts, Parris, France’s Cyrille Diabate (14-6-1), who is a former coach on Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter” battles veteran light heavyweight Milwaukee, Wis.’s Rob Smith (20-13-1) and the up-and-coming flyweight sensation from Las Vegas, Nev.’s Ulysses Gomez (4-1) takes on Sioux Falls, S.D.’s Ben Nguyen (4-2).

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and fights start at 6:30 p.m.

The weighins will take place at the Den Sports Bar located on the third floor of the Palace. Weigh ins are slated to begin at 5 p.m. and fans are encouraged to come mingle with the fighters.

TDR TV, a 30 minute weekly wrestling news program will be added to its offerings on their channel MC-22. US Olympian Sadam Ali added to “Fright Night At The Sun” card

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Oct. 19, 2009) – 2008 U.S. Olympian Sadam Ali has been added to the October 31st (Halloween Night) “Fright Night At The Sun” pro boxing card, presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. (CES), in a 4-round welterweight bout at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

World-rated light heavyweight Joey “KO Kid” Spina (25-1-1, 17 KOs) headlines “Fright Night At The Sun” against former world champion Lou “Honey Boy” Del Valle (36-6-1, 22 KOs) in the 10-round main event.

“Sadam is like Vinny Paz in the ring,” promoter Jimmy Burchfield said. “He goes all out and boxing people really love that style. He’s a real puncher and a great kid. Sadam Ali is the future. We’re all excited about having another US Olympian fighting on one of our cards.”

Ali (3-0, 2 KOs), fighting out of Brooklyn, was the first Arab-American to represent the U.S. Boxing Team in the Olympics, as well as the first New York City boxer on the U.S. Olympic squad in 20 years. He was a highly-decorated amateur since he stared boxing 13 years ago, including 3-time PAL National Championships champion, as well as 2-time National Golden Gloves Tournament and Under-19 National Tournament gold-medal winner.

Taking this fight against an opponent to be determined on only two weeks notice, Ali explained, was an easy decision because he’s always working hard in the Coney Island gym with his trainer, Andre Rozier. “I feel good about this fight,” the 21-year-old Ali commented. “I’m always in the gym. I’m excited and ready. I don’t know what style I’ll use, other than be exciting, until I figure out my opponent. Sometimes I use my speed to box, other fights I’ll come in and take out my opponent. In either case I’m coming to win.”

Ali, who has comfortably made the adjustment from amateurs to the pros, started in karate at the tender age of four, but he switched to boxing four years later after watching Prince Naseem Hamed. “I liked his energy and the support he received from his fans,” Sadam explained. “I loved watching his fights but I don’t really fight like him.

“I’m comfortable as a pro. There’s not that much of a difference other than no head gear and smaller gloves. I have my goals and dreams, but I’m not looking forward, just focusing on one fight at a time. I know where I can get and this is just the beginning.”

One of the hottest prospects on the East Coast, UBC junior welterweight champion “Hammerin’” Hank Lundy (15-0-1, 9 KOs), of Philadelphia, fights an opponent to be determined in the 10-round co-feature.

On the undercard in separate 4-round bouts are a pair of promising Hartford (CT) prospects from Puerto Rico, Hartford junior middleweight David Bauza (2-0, 2 KOs) against Rafael Jastrzebski, and light welterweight Edwin Soto (1-0, 1 KO) versus pro debuting Rasheed Francis.

Also fighting on the undercard is unbeaten lightweight Ryan “The Polish Prince” Kielczewski (5-0, 2 KOs), a 2008 National Golden Gloves Tournament runner-up from Quincy (MA), in a 4-round bout against Israel Suarez (2-2). In two other 4-rounders, undefeated Philadelphia lightweight Frank Trader (6-0, 2 KOs) faces Gustavo Daily, while Long Island light heavyweight Joe Smith, Jr., 2008 New York Golden Glove champion, makes his long-awaited pro debut vs. TBA. BROCKTON, MA—More than 300 boxers participated in the 8th Annual Rocky Marciano Tournament of Champions this year, which is fast becoming the largest amateur boxing tournament in the region. The finalists will fight this Friday at Taunton’s Roseland Ballroom with a reserved slot on the USA Boxing Traveling Team on the line. There will even be real championship belts to win for the winners in each class.

The tournament’s founders Mike and Rich Cappiello come from an esteemed family heritage with their father being a first cousin to Rocky Marciano himself. The brothers have done Rocky proud with regular and sustained contributions to the local and regional boxing scene. The family gym is dedicated to Rocky, and when the tournament began there was no better name to give it than Rocky’s. Fighters from all six New England states (CT, NH, RI, ME, MA, VT) now participate, and this year’s crop is the largest in the tournament’s 8-year history.

This Friday the Roseland Ballroom in Taunton will be a battleground for the best amateurs in the region to prove themselves. More than 50 of the best prospects in boxing will slug it out in the ring after spending the last few months fighting just for the opportunity to be in the finals.

“You’ll see the best of the best in every weight division,” Rich Cappiello promises. While Mike does the hands on fighter training as a retired professional boxer himself (33-6, 13 KOs), Rich Cappiello is the promoter in the family, recently teaming up with Jimmy Burchfield of Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. to combine two of the largest promotional forces in the local area.

Rich Capiello envisions a bright future for the tournament and is excited about the involvement of USA Boxing. “USA Boxing wants to take it regionally,” he said. “Looking at the big picture, this could certainly become the biggest amateur tournament in the country. We really want to go that way.”

The tournament’s lucky winners will receive custom made belts and a chance to represent New England on USA Boxing’s Travel Team. For many young contenders the addition to the travel team will give them a chance to visit all corners of the country and fight some of the best fellow prospects from coast to coast.

In addition to the intense live boxing action, a Rocky Marciano tribute will take place at 5 PM before the bouts start. Clips from Rocky’s stellar undefeated pro career and some of Rocky’s entire fights will be shown. Memorabilia from Rocky’s incredible undefeated championship fighting days will also be featured.

Proceeds for the VIP Reception will benefit The Rocky Marciano Foundation (www.rockymarcianofoundation.org), which will also offer Rocky Marciano merchandise at the event.
