Paris, Texas, October 4, 2009: A Fighters Chance- the newest, most progressive, and driven MMA charity in the sport has teamed up with TapouT, Dollamur Mats, and a various MMA celebrities to give a 24 year old Oklahoma mother of two the “Fighter’s Chance” she deserves.

Jennifer Moulder of Salisaw, OK and friend of UFC fighter, Brian Foster, and the HIT Squad could die without the sport of MMA and its fans. Jennifer was in a car wreck when she was 17 and was not expected to make it. After, fighting her way through the wreck and a two-month coma she resumed life as normal only to find out years later that she has cirrhosis of the liver from medication and a colon disease that has yet to be diagnosed properly. Jennifer needs a proper diagnosis, specialists, in-depth treatment, and a liver transplant but she is without insurance or the funds needed.

A Fighter’s Chance is committed to helping her receive the treatment she needs. Her dream is to be treated at the world renowned Mayo clinic and live to raise her children. This treatment can cost up to several hundred thousand dollars and she lives in constant fear of dying just because she cannot afford the treatment she deserves.

A Fighter’s Chance is setting a goal of raising $150,000 by April 4, 2010. A Fighter’s Chance will have a booth set up on October 17, 2009 at the 2009 Dollamur Classic Red River Takedown Tournament and the Red River Knock Out MMA event at the Dallas Convention Center to help raise money for this cause. Amateur Boxing Club Show @ GLeason’s Gym

Gleason’s next sanctioned amateur boxing club show will be October 17, 2009.

The show is open to all registered amateurs including junior, senior and master boxers.

If you wish to compete on this pre-matched show, please call Angela Querol at (718) 797 2872.

The weigh in will begin at 4:00PM and the first bout will begin at 6:00PM. This show will have one ring featuring Senior Metropolitan Championship bouts and a second ring featuring a club show with Juniors and Masters.

The ticket price is $20 per person. All gym members and registered amateurs with their books in hand pay $15 per person.

BAKER: WILLIAMS SHOULD RETIRE FROM PROFESSIONAL BOXING

DANNY Williams should retire from professional boxing – according to the man who beat him in Friday’s Prizefighter Heavyweights III.

Carl ‘The Fridge’ Baker, 27, stunned the boxing world when he claimed a points victory over British Champion Williams in their three-round contest at London’s ExCel Arena.

Baker, who had only fought once in three years before Barry Hearn’s latest Prizefighter tournament, floored Williams twice in the first 90 seconds of their quarter-final fight.

“I think he should hang up his gloves,” said Baker. “Danny said before the event he would retire if he didn’t win and I hope he does.

“Some papers had me down as a journeyman, which was a bit unfair. But after I beat Danny like that, I wouldn’t want to see someone else do that to him as well.

“When you’re getting beaten like that from a novice you should get out of there. To be honest, I shouldn’t have been in the same ring as Danny Williams and wouldn’t have been normally away from Prizefighter.

“He ended Mike Tyson’s career and got in with Vitali Klitschko for the world title so can be proud of what he has achieved.”

Baker lost in the Prizefighter semi-finals to Ireland’s Coleman Barrett, who then lost in the final to former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison.

Williams, 36, is likely to be stripped of his British title later this month and Baker, who has won nine of 13 professional fights, wants a crack at the Lonsdale belt.

“As I’ve just beaten the British Champion, if that title becomes vacant I would love to fight for it,” added Baker.

“If not, I will just continue doing what I do and a lot of people will be thinking ‘let’s beat the kid that beat Danny’. Beating Danny will do wonders for my career.

“I don’t remember much of the fight or what hand I knocked him down with, I was just on auto-pilot.

“I remember thinking ‘where has Danny gone’ and that maybe he’d stepped around the side of me but then I realised I’d put him down and couldn’t believe it.

“He’s fought Mike Tyson who couldn’t do that and John McDermott also couldn’t put him down.

“My first knockdown was in only 20 seconds. Has anyone ever done that to Danny before?

“Before Prizefighter when I told my friends I was boxing Danny everyone started laughing and when I read off the names of people in Prizefighter, everyone was saying ‘you can’t win so don’t enter it’.

“I walked into work (at an internet company in Sheffield) to a round of applause and it has put me on such a high. All I needed was a bit of self-belief and this has shown people what I can do.”

Aaron Anspach and Lou Armezzani Fighting This Sunday October 11th

NEW YORK (Oct. 7, 2009)—SHOWTIME Sports, in conjunction with NFL Films, is producing a new reality series that will give fight fans unprecedented access into the lives of the participants in the Super Six World Boxing Classic. Dubbed FIGHT CAMP 360°: Inside The Super Six World Boxing Classic, the series will focus a powerful spotlight on the groundbreaking tournament from the kickoff press conference in July 2009 through the Final tournament bout slated for 2011.

The series premieres on Saturday, Oct. 10 on SHOWTIME® (10:30 p.m. ET/PT).

The tournament format, created by SHOWTIME Sports in association with five world-class boxing promoters, is a unique concept to boxing and one that has been lauded by industry experts and the sports media since its announcement. Likewise, FIGHT CAMP 360°: Inside The Super Six World Boxing Classic is unlike any other reality program in boxing.

There will be six episodes following the fighters not just in training camp, but during the intense moments leading up to their respective fights, in their corners during each bout and in the aftermath of every win, loss, or draw as the fighters recede from the limelight and begin to prepare for their next bout.

“The round-robin nature of this tournament lends itself to a story arc and fight progression that has never before been seen in boxing,” said SHOWTIME Sports General Manager Ken Hershman. “This series will set itself apart by chronicling each man through that progression. No one knows where each story will lead, but our cameras will be there every step of the way.”

“Add in NFL Films breadth of experience and its trademark storytelling ability, and this series becomes exponentially more unique and compelling.” said Hershman.

The debut episode of FIGHT CAMP 360°: Inside The Super Six World Boxing Classic will also take viewers behind the intrigue and the politics to reveal how the unprecedented boxing tournament came together.

The series is voice by Bill St. James with music by NFL Films award-winning composure David Robidoux.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, the Super Six World Boxing Classic kicks off with Group Stage 1 bouts between Arthur Abraham vs. Jermain Taylor and Carl Froch vs. Andre Dirrell (SHOWTIME, 8 p.m. ET/PT). Group Stage 1 continues on Saturday, Nov. 21 with Mikkel Kessler vs. Andre Ward.

LAS VEGAS (October 6, 2009) — The climax of the World’s Greatest Ever Boxer campaign will take place December 11-13 at the Paris, Las Vegas Casino Resort. The winners of the global vote for the World’s Greatest Ever Boxers will be announced Sunday, Dec. 13 at an Awards Night. A fight night themed, USA vs. The World, promoted by Seminole Warriors Boxing, will take place Saturday, Dec. 12.

“The December date at the Paris Las Vegas gives us the opportunity to work through our full editorial program,” said Chris Heverin, President of Greatest Ever Enterprises. “The debate on the Greatest Ever Boxers has been fierce to date and we are about to widen that debate with the inclusion of three new award categories. We currently have a 10-part TV series in production that will air in TV markets worldwide and, again, the December date will allow fans more time to engage with this project.

“Seminole Warriors Boxing is putting together a very exciting fight card for the USA vs. The World promotion and we are able to announce the first fighters on that card now. We are privileged to have Aaron Pryor and Jeff Fenech, both nominees and great champions, to lead the US and World teams.

“The pieces are in place for an unforgettable and unique event in Las Vegas on December 11 to 13 and I encourage all sports fans to join us at the Paris Hotel for a truly once in a lifetime experience.”

NOMINEES CONFIRM THEIR ATTENDANCE

Of the 84 legends nominated for the global vote, 40 of those fighters are still alive. All have been invited to the December 11-13 weekend and already 12 have confirmed their attendance. They include Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Aaron Pryor, Joe Calzaghe, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes, Jeff Fenech, Emile Griffith, Bob Foster, Michael Carbajal, and Bob Foster.

Other great world champions in attendance will include Leon Spinks with his son and current junior middleweight world champion, Cory Spinks. It is hoped that brother Michael Spinks will be able to attend as well. Oliver McCall will be in the corner for his son, Elijah, who will be fighting for the US team.

More confirmations will be announced in the coming weeks as schedules are finalized.

PRYOR AND FENECH TO CAPTAIN TEAMS

Greatest Ever nominees Aaron Pryor and Jeff Fenech are to captain the US and The World teams, respectively, on Dec. 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

Pryor, a former US Olympian and Junior Welterweight World Champion, will have his son, Aaron Jr., on the team. Speaking of his nomination, Pryor said, “I am excited. This is something that boxing needs and engages fans worldwide in the history of our sport. This is a dream come true, it is like being in the Hall of Fame. I am also excited Aaron Jr. is going to be fighting. I am concerned like any father would be, but he is a good fighter and is in good hands. This will be a very special weekend for us.”

Australian Jeff Fenech, himself a former Olympian and three-time world champion at three different weights, said, “These matches will be very competitive. The boys are fighting not just for their own records, but for their team, and this will matter. Not only that, they will be showcasing themselves in front of some of the greatest fighters of all time. What more motivation do they need to put on a show? I think the Americans are going to get a big surprise. This is a celebration of world boxing, not American fighters.”

NEW VOTING CATEGORIES ANNOUNCED

Fans worldwide have been voting for their Greatest Ever Boxers in the eight traditional voting categories since June. In response to the debate that has been generated, three new voting categories are to be introduced:

Greatest Ever Promoter

The nominations for these categories will be released to the global vote in mid- October.

NEW TICKET PACKAGES LAUNCHED

Events Only tickets have now been released.

For the US vs. The World fight card Saturday, Dec. 12, the tickets are Super VIP at $150, Platinum at $100, VIP at $80 and Gold at $65. The fight card plus hospitality packages are Super VIP at $500, Platinum at $400, VIP at $250 and Gold at $150.

For the Greatest Ever Dinner, Awards Ceremony and Entertainment Sunday, Dec. 13, the tickets are Super VIP at $1000, Platinum at $800, VIP at $450 and Gold at $250.

USA vs. THE WORLD FIGHT CARD

A provisional fight card has been released by promoter Seminole Warriors Boxing of Davie, Florida.

A bout featuring International Boxing Federation’s No. 6 junior middleweight Sechew Powell will headline the Dec.12 fight night. Powell is hoping to be matched in an eliminator for a shot at the world title.

The seven-fight card will showcase three US fighters who are sons of former world champions (Elijah McCall, Aaron Pryor Jr., and Ronald Hearns) and two of the fathers (Aaron Pryor and Thomas Hearns) are nominees in the World’s Greatest Ever Boxer.

John Jackson, son of boxing legend Julian Jackson, will be in the World Team, joined by Luis Frano of Cuba, Sharif Bogere of Uganda and Andrzej Fonfara of Poland.

BARRY Hearn believes Prizefighter Heavyweights III winner Audley Harrison could have a shot at a world title before 2011.

Hearn, who promoted Friday’s Prizefighter event, thinks Harrison, 37, is finally showing his ability after winning an Olympic gold in 2000.

“Winning Prizefighter is the biggest thing that has happened to Audley Harrison since turning professional and he did it with style and power,” said Hearn. “He showed people he has ability and turned the boos into cheers.

“I’ve watched Audley’s career since he turned professional with an Olympic gold medal around his neck.

“He’s had his critics – I’ve been one of them – who have complained he talks a great fight but doesn’t deliver.

“Audley is a great self-publicist but on Friday he showed he is a great fighter and a potential world-beater.

“His style is infuriating and I would hate to train him as I he believe he has a gameplan that he concocts himself and, as usual, listens to nobody.

“The fact is though, he is a class act as every punch that knocked down three different opponents was executed quite beautifully and would’ve had a concussive effect on any heavyweight in the world.

“Where does Audley go from him? Well, it all depends on Audley!

“If he concentrates on his boxing and allows professionals to do their job properly, then I believe he could get a crack at a world heavyweight title in the next 12 months.

“Lets be honest, time isn’t on his side. He’s coming up to his 38th birthday and few television networks are, at this moment, banging the door down to have him on their station.

“It’s harsh but true so he needs to do a job inside and outside of the ring.

“For me the plan would be simple. A quick warm-up, fight a European challenger, then straight for a world title. Achievable? Yes. Impossible? No. Likely? Who knows? It depends on Audley.”

Harrison had threatened to quit boxing if he failed in Prizefighter but impressive victories over Scott Belshaw and previously undefeated duo Danny Hughes and Coleman Barrett saved his career.

However, he was still booed by a number of people among a sell-out crowd of 5,000 at the ExCel Arena in London and Hearn believes Harrison should do his talking in the ring.

“People will always boo a fighter that talks a good fight and doesn’t deliver,” added Hearn. “He has lost to Michael Sprott and Martin Rogan and that did not fit with his assertions that he was going to be undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

“The British public like to see triers, not posers. They like heart and effort as well as quality and Audley hadn’t shown enough of that in the past. But on Friday he began to show what he can do. The manor of his victory has reinvented some level of British support but there’s still a long way to go.

“Had Audley not won Prizefighter, the only way for him to go would’ve been retirement. The fact he won it means he has one last chance on his personal road to redemption and a last crack at achieving his dreams.

“It’s not going to be easy and there’s still a long, hard road ahead but at least he is travelling in the right direction.”
