Paul Bradley Improves to 12-1 with Win at Strikeforce

Paul Bradley (12-1) showcased his impressive stand up and well rounded fight game this past Friday night at the Strikeforce Challenger Fights in Tulsa, Oklahoma by dominating Levi Avera (12-5). Bradley, who improved his record to 12-1, won by a unanimous decision over Avera with all 3 judges scoring the fight 30-27.
“I was pleased with the win Friday night and felt like I was able to dominate the fight no matter where it went. I am going to go back to the gym Monday and continue training full time to move closer to a Strikeforce title. Fighting in a great organization like Strikeforce was awesome and it feels great to be a part of such an impressive fight league. I am looking forward to fighting for them as soon as possible.”

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 28, 2009) – One of the top boxing prospects in the world, 2008 U.S. Olympian Demetrius “The Extinguisher” Andrade, returns home October 3 to fight for the third time as a professional on the stacked “Saturday Afternoon Special” card at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.
“Saturday Afternoon Special” is a rare matinee show (2 PM/ET start), promoted by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. (CES), in association with Twin River, Banner Promotions, Star Boxing and DiBella Entertainment.
Undefeated prospect Edwin “La Bomba” Rodriguez (11-0, 8 KOs), a 2-time national amateur champion, headlines in an 8-round super middleweight match against battle-tested Darnell Boone (16-12-2, 6 KOs).
Andrade (7-0, 6 KOs), born and raised in Providence, is a former World amateur champion fighting in the 6-round co-feature versus another undefeated prospect, Chris Chatman (4-0, 2 KOs). In arguably his best performance as a pro, Andrade stopped previously undefeated John Williams (3-0-1) earlier this month at Twin River.
“He was game,” Andrade said of Williams. “I think my last fight was my best, so far. He was a tough guy. I showed a little of everything; boxing in and out, moving around, and using all of my tools on my opponent.”
“Demetrius Andrade will be world champion,” Burchfield claimed. “All of us at CES are honored to have him fight again at home on our card. His promoters are both dear friends of mine – Artie Pelullo of Banner Promoters in Philadelphia and Joe DeGuardia of Star Boxing in New York City. They are two of the top promoters in the business and it’s been great working with them to have Demetrius fight on our cards. Demetrius is an undefeated prospect that puts on a colorful show from the moment he enters the arena and goes into the ring.”
Andrade made his pro debut last Oct. 23 and the accelerated pace of his first year is the result of his promoters working with associates like Burchfield, which allows him to fight at home before family and friends. “I was just thinking that 10 fights by the end of this year would be good,” Andrade remarked. “It looks like I’ll have nine because of the holiday season. That’s still good. I’m learning pro techniques and getting more relaxed, confident and patient. I don’t throw every punch looking for a knockout anymore, but I still throw hard punches with bad intentions. I’ve improved my inside moves, working on techniques to stop my opponent from holding me. For me, fighting at home is glory. There’s no place like home.”
Another promising Cape Verdean from Providence, super middleweight Vladine Biosse (3-0, 3 KOs), takes on Tafari Lawton (1-0) in a 4-round bout. The fan-friendly Biosse is a former University of Rhode Island football player.
Light welterweight Simeon Dunwell (9-1, 2 KOs) meets David Marquez (5-6-1, 1 KO) in a 6-round bout. Also fighting on the undercard in 4-round fights are Hartford junior middleweight David Bauza (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Khristian Geraci (4-6-1, 3 KOs), Hartford light welterweight Edwin Soto (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Darrell Jones (2-2, 1 KO) and Providence light welterweight Jesus Caro (4-0, 4 KOs) vs. Damien Butler (0-1). PHILADELPHIA (September 28, 2009)—This Friday night at The Legendary Blue Horizon, There will be a big 10 bout card that will feature undefeated Cruiserweights Ran Nakash and Jeremiah Graziano in separate bouts.
This coming week there will be different activities for which some of the boxers will be present where fans can meet and greet the boxers.
On Wednesday at 2pm there will be a press conference for which Nakash, Graziano and some of the undercard fighters will be available for pictures and stories
At 7:30 pm that night Nakash will be appearing at Applebees on Old York Road in Jenkintown, PA.
Thursday at 4pm at Stogie Joe’s Tavern at 1801 East Passyunk, media and fans can meet Graziano who is an undefeated (6-0, 6 KO’s) of Kansas City
Friday morning at 9 am the official weigh-in will take place with the fights beginning at 7:30 pmmarc

LUNDY AND SMITH CLAIM UNBC TITLE IN SOUTH PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA (September 28, 2009)—“Hammerin” Hank Lundy dazzled the crowd with lightning quick hands as he scored a sixth round stoppage over Justo Sanchez to win the UNBC Jr. Welterweight title that highlighted a six bout card at The Yesha Center in South Philadelphia on Saturday night.
Lundy was dominant throughout as he landed some pummeling shots that produced two knockdowns until referee Shawn Clark stopped the bout at twenty-eight seconds in round six.
In the co-feature, Dhafir Smith scored a knockdown in round two from a big left hook en route to a split decision victory over Demetrius Davis for the UNBC Super Middleweight Intercontinental Title in an eight round affair.
The night also saw the return of prized prospect Eric “Outlaw” Hunter score an entertaining unanimous decision over tough as nails Wilshaun Boxley.
The card also highlighted two excellent ladies bouts with Belinda Laracuente and Rachel Clark scoring four round victories plus the pro debut of popular cruiserweight Dan Grafton.
There was an exhibition bout between Pedro Martinez and Ron Boddie.

BARRETT: I’M IN BEST SHAPE EVER AND GOING TO WIN PRIZEFIGHTER

COLEMAN BARRETT believes he is in the best condition ever and ready to cause a massive upset by winning Friday’s Prizefighter Heavyweights III.
Barrett, 26, is one of eight heavyweights vying for £32,000 in Barry Hearn’s latest Prizefighter event, which will be staged at the ExCel Arena in London.
The competition features current British Champion Danny Williams and former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison, but Barrett insists he can take the glory.
“This is the biggest opportunity of my life but I’m going to make the most of it and win it,” said Barrett, undefeated from his eight professional contests.
“I’m certainly capable of winning it – I know I’ve got the tools – and this is the right time for me.
“I’m up against some of Britain’s greatest heavyweights but I’m looking forward to meeting them.
“It’s only three rounds so you have to work really hard and fast so I think that will suit me well.
“I have youth on my side and the training, sparring and preparation has been going perfectly.
“I’m in great condition and in absolutely brilliant shape physically and mentally. I’ve trained very hard for the last eight weeks for Prizefighter and I’m ready for this.”
Barrett is a 25/1 outsider to win the event and has a tough opening fight against former British Champion Scott Gammer.
If Barrett, who hails from Galway, Ireland but has been training recently in Leeds and Reading, defeats Gammer he could meet Williams in the semi-finals.
Despite the tough-looking fights, Barrett insists he relishes the challenge.
“Both sides of the draw are tough and it’ll be a tough night of boxing no matter what side you’re on,” added Barrett. If you’re good enough you’re going to get through – and I know I’m good enough.
“I won five Irish titles as an amateur, a bronze medal at the World Championships and two ABA titles and that amateur pedigree will help me.
“This is something I have to do and this will lift my career higher than ever. Hopefully if I win this it will take me to fighting for titles shortly after.
“I don’t want to lose my undefeated record and I don’t expect to lose it.
“Everyone in this is a good fighter and I’m not taking anything away from them but I know I can win it.”

– Eight competitors in the same weight fight in four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the final with all the action happening in one exciting night of boxing.
– Each contest lasts a maximum of three rounds with standard boxing rules applied.
– If there has not been a knockout or stoppage then the winner will be decided by three scoring judges at ringside.
– The winner of Prizefighter – Heavyweights III will receive £32,000, the runner-up gets £16,000, losing semi-finalists receive £8,000 and beaten quarter-finalists collect £4,000. The total prize fund is £80,000 – £11,000 more than for previous Prizefighter tournaments.
– This will be the eighth Prizefighter competition. The first – Heavyweights I – was held in April 2008. The others staged were Heavyweights II (September), Welterweights (October), Middleweights (November), Light-heavyweights (February), Lightweights (March) and Cruiserweights (May).
– The quarter-final draw is 1. Scott Gammer v Coleman Barrett, 2. Danny Williams v Carl Baker, 3. Audley Harrison v Scott Belshaw, 4. Neil Perkins v Danny Hughes.
– If one of the fighters wins a bout but is unable to compete in the next round (ie a bad cut) then one of two reserves will step into their place for the rest of the tournament. The two reserves are Paul Butlin (Melton Mowbray) and Lee Swaby (Lincoln).
