Edouard adds WBO #15 Ranking, Prepares for Panama

Daniel “The Haitian Sensation” Edouard (22-2-2 KOs 13) the current WBA Fedelatin Middleweight Champion adds a WBO #15 middleweight ranking to his growing list of accomplishments. Edouard, also ranked WBA #8 at middleweight and WBC #11 at super welterweight, was informed about the new ranking recently.

“It is certainly an honor. You work hard every day in hopes of climbing up the ladder towards a title shot. I truly feel blessed.”

Edouard is in preparation for a defense of his WBA Fedelatin title in Panama City, Panama at the Arena Roberto Duran against Nicaraguan fighter Wilmer Gonzalez on October 9.

“I am excited about going back to Panama. The boxing fans there are great and they know their boxing! They have a rich boxing history with legends such as Roberto Duran and Eusebio Pedroza so you have to be ready to put on a great show when you’re fighting on Panama’s soil.”

When asked about his boxing future beyond his Panama fight and who he would like to face next Edouard went on to say, “I am focused on Gonzalez. One fight at a time. Win this fight first then I’ll think about who is next. Square Ring will ultimately make a good solid decision as to who I fight next, when that fight takes place and where that fight takes place. My job is to fight the fighter that is in front of me so that is what I am focused on right now.”

Olympian Andrade returns Oct. 3 at home in Rhode Island

Olympian Demetrius Andrade and ex-URI football player Vladine Biosse to be showcased Oct. 3 in “Saturday Afternoon Special” at Twin River

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Sept. 22, 2009) – U.S. Olympian Demetrius “The Cape Verdean Assassin” Andrade and former University of Rhode Island football player, Vladine Biosse, will be featured in separate bouts in a rare matinee pro boxing show, “Saturday Afternoon Special,” Oct. 3 at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, R.I.

“Saturday Afternoon Special” is presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports Inc. (CES), in association with Twin River. Andrade’s (7-0, 6 KOs) fight will be a 6-rounder, in association with Banner Promotions and Star Boxing.

Andrade, fighting out of Providence, is a former World amateur champion and a U.S. Olympian from 2008. The multi-talented southpaw is coming off of a scintillating performance earlier this month at Twin River, displaying his full arsenal en route to a sixth-round stoppage of previously-unbeaten John Wiliams. Considered one of the top prospects in the world, Andrade will be fighting at home for the third time as a pro.

Providence super middleweight Biosse (3-0, 3 KOs), also a victor on the aforementioned Andrade card via a second-round TKO against Sam Norwood, was a 2-time Junior College All-America football player at Dean College. His adjustment from the gridiron to the ring is ahead of pace with three wins, all by impressive knockouts.

“We’ve lobbied a long time for a Saturday afternoon card after a lot of fans told us that they want to bring young children, but couldn’t because we only promoted shows at night,” promoter Jimmy Burchfield said. “We are very excited that Twin River has given us this date and time. The 13th DUMBO Art Under The Bridge Festival sponsored by The DUMBO Arts Center will be held September 25 through 27, 2009.

Over 150,000 visitors will come to DUMBO for this festival.

Forty or more artists will show their work at Gleason’s Gym this weekend. All Medium of art will be shown. We have painters, photographers, sculptors, illustrators, authors, furniture makers, filmmakers and mosaic artists. All of the art will have something to do with boxing.

Fairfax, VA (September 22, 2009) – Local fan favorite Jimmy Lange of Great Falls, VA headlines his eighth professional boxing show at the Patriot Center this Saturday, September 26, in his first World Boxing Council (WBC) U.S. National Boxing Council (USNBC) title defense by facing Jonathan Reid, a former teammate from The Contender boxing show, in a 12-Round contest. Tickets for “Saturday Night Fights,” an eight-bout card by Ice Promotions presented by Valcourt Building Services, start at only $30 and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations or at the door.

In addition to Lange, the rest of the lineup is arguably the best Beltway boxing card of 2009, showcasing the region’s top talent highlighted by the return of former WBO world champion and Washington, D.C. native DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley in his first area appearance since December 2004.

Four local products will put their undefeated records on the line including much-talked about, rising national lightweight prospect Bayan “The Mongolian Mongoose” Jargal of Arlington, VA. With the explosion in MMA Events and the rapid expansion of FightZone TV’s roster of Promoter Partners, FightZone TV’s co-owner and head commentator, Jay Adams is rapidly becoming the Matt Lauer of MMA.

“HAMMERING” HANK LUNDY TO TAKE ON JUSTO SANCHEZ FOR UBC JR. WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP THIS SATURDAY IN SOUTH PHILLY

PHILADELPHIA (SEPTEMBER 21stTH, 2009)- THIS SATURDAY, September 26th at The Yesha Center in South Philadelphia, undefeated Jr. Welterweight “Hammering” Hank Lundy will take on forty-one fight veteran Justo Sanchez in a ten round battle for the UBC Jr. welterweight championship.

The show is promoted by Donna Cohen’s Bionic Bull Promotions.

Lundy of Philadelphia brings in a record of 14-0-1 with eight knockouts and is quickly becoming one of the top fighters in talent rich Philadelphia.

Lundy has received accolades for not only his lightning quick hands and fan friendly style but his willingness to take on all comers as evidenced by a recent stretch where he took on Darnell Jiles Jr. (8-0), Esteban Almarez (7-0) and Jason Cintron (10-0) within a five fight span.

Lundy is coming off a fifth round stoppage over Josh Beeman (4-3-3) on July 17th in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

“He is truly Mr. Excitement”, Lundy’s manager, Ivan Cohen said

“We offered this fight to undefeated guys such as Antonio Espinoza and big names that have recently fought for world titles and they turned it down because they know the skill level that Hank Possesses.”

Sanchez of Howell, Utah brings in a record of 17-23-1.

He has shared the ring with a litany of big name fighters such as former world champion Jorge Paez, world-title challenger Jose Santa Cruz, current WBO Featherweight champion Steven Luevano.

In his last bout, Sanchez dropped a six round unanimous decision to hot prospect Verquan Kimbrough on June 12th in Oregon.

The co-feature will be a battle for the UBC Inter-Continental Super Middleweight title as Dhafir Smith will take on Demetrius Davis in a bout scheduled for eight rounds.

Smith of Upper Darby, PA has a record of 21-19-6 with four knockouts but that doesn’t even begin to tell the story.

At just twenty-six years old, Smith has already fought some of the best fighters in the world between the Super Middleweight and Light Heavyweight divisions.

Smith has fought Dennis Sharpe (13-0-1); Ian Gardner (12-1); Shaun George (8-0-1); Contender participants Max Alexander (2-0); Wayne Johnsen (8-0); Henry Buchanan (11-0); Smith went the distance with knockout artist Curtis Stevens (14-1); Smith was in with former US Olympic Gold Medalist Andre Ward (11-0), prospect Adonis Stevenson (10-0), a split decision loss to former world title challenger Kingsley Ikeke (23-3) and a loss to former Dominican Olympian Jerson Ravelo (18-3).

Smith has several big wins on his ledger over Harry Mayes (5-0); Kippy warren (17-5-2); Brandon Mitchem (25-4-2); Former Contender participant and world title challenger Jonathan Reid (34-6); Smith also has draws with Mike Paschall (10-0) and Former world title challenger Larry Marks (29-9).

Davis has a similar record of 19-15-5 with seven knockouts and the Washington, DC native has also faced top competition.

Davis holds wins over two-time world title challenger Tony Marshall, Darren Miciunski, Joseph Kiwanuka (25-2-2), and has a draw with undefeated Light Heavyweight Tommy Karpency.

A few of Davis notable defeats have come at the hands of Nick Rupa (13-0), former Contender contestant Tarik Salmaci, former world title challenger Bryant Brannon, Thomas Tate (34-5) and in his last outing he suffered a ninth round stoppage loss to Corey Cummings on may 29th.

Exciting featherweight prospect, Eric “Outlaw” Hunter (10-1, 4 KO’s) will appear in a scheduled six round bout.

Pedro Martinez (5-2, 3 KO’s) of Philadelphia will take on Kevin Hood (5-11-1) of Coatesville, PA in a four round Cruiserweight bout.

Lakeysha Williams (9-14-3, 1 KO) will take on Belinda Lauracuente (23-25-3, 9 KO’s) of New York City in a four round Ladies Jr. Lightweight bout.

PHILADELPHIA (SEPTEMBER 21, 2009)—Undefeated Cruiserweight Ran Nakash will take on Gary Gomez in the main event at The Legendary Blue Horizon on a big night of boxing on cancer Awareness night Friday night October 2nd.

The card is promoted by Vernoca L. Michael and Blue Horizon Boxing Promotions and there will dedications to Cancer survivors and Cancer groups from the area.

Nakash of Haifa, Israel has a record of 20-0 with fifteen knockouts and is on the cusp of receiving a world ranking.

Nakash has become a fan favorite at The Legendary Blue Horizon as this will be his tenth appearance at The Blue (9-0, 7 KO’s including the last six being knockouts). Nakash is coming off a unanimous decision over Yavor Marinchev on August 8th in Israel.

In his last Blue Horizon start, Nakash scored a seventh round stoppage over Dave Brunelli on April 3rd.

Gomez of Salt Lake City, Utah has a record of 18-10-1 with seven knockouts and has faced some of the top cruiserweights in the world.

Gomez, 35, has faced top contenders such as Felix Cora Jr. (10-0); He won the GBU Cruiserweight title with a sixth round stoppage over Michael Sams (12-0-3); He lost a very thin decision to Contender Season four runner-up Hino Ehikhamenor. Gomez then defeated undefeated Chad Van Syckle (18-0-2) and Rayco Saunders (14-3); Gomez then dropped a split decision to former cruiserweight king Arthur Williams (41-14-1) and a decision to Kenny Keene (49-3).

Gomez has dropped three in a row to very good competition that rising heavyweight Manuel Quezada (19-4) former Heavyweight contender Jeremy Williams (41-5-1) and in his most recent bout he was stopped in seven by currant Cruiserweight king, Tomasz Adamek (34-1).

In a six round Cruiserweight bout undefeated Jeremiah Graziano will make his Blue Horizon debut against an opponent to be named.

Graziano of Kansas City, Missouri has a record of 6-0 with all wins coming by knockout and will take on an opponent to be named.

After the disappointment of his opponent getting into a car accident AFTER the weigh-in on September 11th, Darrell Jones will get back into the ring in a four round Welterweight bout against popular Muhammad Tuba.

Jones of Philadelphia has a record of 1-0 with one knockout and has been out of the ring for thirteen months after scoring a third round knockout over James Wynn at The Legendary Blue Horizon.

Tuba of Nazareth made a very successful Legendary Blue Horizon debut on May 15th with a four round unanimous decision over Vincent Batteast and brings in a record of 1-3.

Fresh off his pro debut victory on September 11th, Joe Alonso of Bellmawr, New Jersey will take on debuting Vaughn Anderson of Philadelphia in a four round Jr. Middleweight bout.
