REFORMED FAMILY MAN EXPECTS OCTOBER 2ND FIREWORKS

FORMER undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson admits he has turned into a softie.

One-time hell-raiser Tyson, once known as the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’, believes he is now a reformed, family man.

“As far as my personal life goes, everything’s changed,” said Tyson. “I have an eight-month-old baby and a new wife – I’m like Mr Mom now.

“That’s good for me and what I need. I used to be the kind of guy that would go out to get some milk and not come home for three days.”

Tyson, 43, recently performed the draw in Las Vegas for Prizefighter Heavyweights III, Barry Hearn’s eight-man, one-night tournament at London’s ExCel on October 2.

The draw set up a potential rematch between British Champion Danny Williams and former Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison.

“That would be one hell of final. Danny is great guy and a great fighter,” said Tyson, who lost to Williams in 2004.

“I don’t know if Audley is content with his gold medal. It’s one hell of an achievement but professional boxing is so different.

“Audley has tons of ability and style, but style doesn’t win fights, it’s the moral behind the fight.

“Prizefighter is exactly what the fans want to see – all out action, but it’s going to take a special kind of fighter to win it.

“You have to get off to a fast start, score quickly but also stay composed.

“It was always my aim to get off to a fast start and throw as many punches as possible – Prizefighter would’ve been perfect for me!

“All the contenders are warriors and know how to fight but there can only be one champion.”

‘Iron Mike’ Tyson, the youngest man to win the WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles, won 50 of his 58 professional fights.

He likes the Prizefighter concept where each fight lasting a maximum of three rounds and the idea of the underdog shocking the favorite.

Tyson added: “When I was 15 I remember traveling to Providence for a fight. It was a long ride for me and I was fighting this older, more experienced guy – he was 22 and everyone thought he was ‘the man’.

“The place was packed and I was making a name for myself – but was just a kid.

“It was such a tough, great fight. I never stopped, I fought my heart out that night.

“The fight was too close to call and although they gave it to the hometown fighter it was the greatest fight of my life.

“I cried all the way home to Catskill. When I got home Cus D’Amato asked me why I was so upset.

“He told me how proud he was that I never caved in that night and kept fighting to the end. I will never forget that night.”

– Eight competitors in the same weight fight in four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and the final with all the action happening in one exciting night of boxing.

– Each contest lasts a maximum of three rounds with standard boxing rules applied.

– If there has not been a knockout or stoppage then the winner will be decided by three scoring judges at ringside.

– The winner of Prizefighter – Heavyweights III will receive £32,000, the runner-up gets £16,000, losing semi-finalists receive £8,000 and beaten quarter-finalists collect £4,000. The total prize fund is £80,000 – £11,000 more than for previous Prizefighter tournaments.

– A draw will be held before the event to find out which boxers will fight each other in the four quarter-finals.

Chad Nelson, who started out as a kick boxer, is prepared to go the distance with Wilson. “I’ve seen Enoch over the years and I know that he’s a tough guy, so I’m coming ready to go all five,” said Nelson. “The only prediction I have for the fight is that it will be fast paced and exciting.”

Enoch Wilson, a Team Quest instructor in Tualatin who began his career fighting multiple styles in No Holds Barred matches, is looking for the KO. “Chad is a very well rounded mixed martial artist. He is a dangerous striker and has a good submission game,” said Wilson. “With that said, I have only one primary focus and function when I get in the ring with Chad and that is to wreck shop by any and all means necessary. As usual, I will be searching for the KO; however, I am an opportunist and I will take the win wherever it presents itself.”

Josh Queen made his MMA professional debut in a heavyweight title fight against Jeremiah Constant, which he won by submission with a rear naked choke just six seconds prior to the end of the first round. Six months later, he defended that title against Josh Bennett, a freestyle fighter from Washington. Queen defeated Bennett 2 minutes, 16 seconds into the first round with what has become his signature move, the rear naked choke.

Mike Hayes started training for MMA two years ago and quickly established a strong amateur record. He went pro last February on the first Strikeforce show with a win over multiple belt holder Matt Kovacs. Hayes prefers to stand and bang, and has attracted a rapidly growing fan base due to his aggressive and exciting fight style.

On his comeback:

“I am back and I am going to continue to make noise in the sport of boxing.

“I came from a small weight class. I have fought at 130 lbs. all the way to 154 lbs. and I have faced the best. We take one day at a time. I am truly blessed to be where I am. I go to the gym every day work hard and be the best I can be.

“There are a lot of great fighters out there. I am just here to be the best.”

“It was a wild night. It was hard work, dedication, prayers, belief and a good team.

“I don’t rate this as one of my best fights. I think I could have done a lot better. I have been off for a couple of years. I just want to push myself to the limit. “When I get in the squared circle, the only thing I think about is my children. When the bell rings, I put it all out there for my kids.”

On Marquez:

“Marquez is tough as hell. Tough, tough, tough. I hit him with some shots and I thought they were going to finish him, but he kept pushing back. That is the Mexican warrior heart in him.

“I have nothing but respect for Marquez and Nacho as well. Nacho is one hell of a trainer.

“If drinking urine makes him that tough…damn!

“He was trying to go to the body, but when I am in the ring, I can see every shot that is coming. He is a hell of a fighter. I can’t take that away from him. I am not here to get down on any fighter.

“With the 54 fights, he was really crafty. The shots I could get in there he was ducking and dodging. I can see why he has been around the sport for so long and dominating.

“When he gets dropped, he always gets up and fights until the end. He was really sharp and really keen and really smart. He was still coherent after the knock down. I tried to jump right back on him. If the knock out comes it comes, but I just tried to take my time.

“I come from a small weight class also. I am never going to win. There are always going to be excuses. Why can’t someone just say that Floyd Mayweather is a great fighter?

“If I do knock them out, I don’t get props. If I don’t knock them out I don’t get props. There are always going to be excuses.”

On being seen as pound-for-pound best:

“People say Pacquiao is number one. I don’t have to rate myself. I know what I can do. Pound-for-pound is an opinion. I was a professional for 11 years, and I was a world champion for 10 years. I went away for two years, came back, I fought the number two fighter. I didn’t rate him, they did.

“I am a critic of myself. I want to be the best I can be.”

On giving back:

“We try to give back to the city of Las Vegas. I came from a hard neighborhood and I want to give back.”

On Shane Mosley:

“Tonight is not Mosley’s night. Mosley is supposed to be in training camp.

“When it is their night (Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins), I don’t go into the ring and grab the microphone. I let it be their night.

“Everybody knows I don’t have to duck and dodge anyone. I have never had to duck and dodge.”

On the fight:

“It was a very hard fight. He surprised me with the knock down. He hurt me in that round, but only that round.

“When I hit him and he laughed, I knew he felt my punches. I tried to work the speed, but the difference was the weight. If I had three or four fights at this weight I would have done better. I did the best that I could do in this fight. I still want to dedicate this fight to my fans and the president of Mexico.

“I am a little sad, but I tried my best and the weight was a big problem. I think there was maybe a 20 pound difference in weight. I am not trying to make excuses. I did the work. I worked very hard for this fight. I am proud to be Mexican and I was willing to die in that ring.

“I proved that I can fight. I gave it my all. Hey, I tried.”

On the differences between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather:

“They have different styles. Floyd is very clever. He is 100% a defensive fighter. He is a good counter puncher. And Pacquiao is a guy that likes to fight.”

On potentially fighting Katsidis:

“I am going to think about it. One of the possibilities is going back down to lightweight, but I felt really good about junior welterweight, so maybe I will stay and try to get a title right there.”

On potentially fighting Ricky Hatton:

“It is a matter of getting together with my promoter. I just want to rest. I think I deserve it.”

On the fight postponement:

“It may have affected me, but that is in the past. I came to fight and I fought twelve hard rounds. The most important thing is that we are both healthy.”

West Palm Beach Florida, (September 18th, 2009) VMG Worldwide, Inc., is the world’s most preeminent and diversified sports, entertainment, and media company, and is proud to announce that VMG Sports member “The Haitian Sensation” Daniel Edouard, will be defending his WBA Fedelatin Middleweight boxing title on October 9th, 2009 against Wilmer Gonzalez in Panama City, Panama. Edouard 22-2-2 13 ko’s, of West Palm Beach Florida, is currently ranked number 8 by the WBA and number 15 by the WBO in the middleweight division, and is ranked number 11 by the WBC in the junior middleweight division. He is currently riding a four fight winning streak since taking a year off away from the sport.

Known as a warrior inside of the ring, Daniel Edouard is a humanitarian outside of the ring. Daniel is the founder of The Haitian Sensation Foundation which aims to help the youth of Haiti build opportunity by bringing awareness to several sporting opportunities and offers the youth the opportunity to participate and excel in sports such as boxing, basketball, and track and field. As these sports gain popularity, and as the programs grow larger, the foundation has hopes of utilizing these sports to attract tourism as well. The Haitian Sensation Foundation also reaches into the United States where the foundation offers tutoring for children and a food distribution program for immigrant Haitians in the U.S. that are in need. Along other lines the foundation also offers the immigrant youth from Haiti aid in learning the English language and help in adjusting to life in the United States.

A business man as well, Daniel Edouard also has promotion company and an entertainment company. The promotion company Hybrid Combat Sports will regularly promote both mixed martial arts and boxing shows in the West Palm Beach Florida area. The boxing shows will host Team Sensation which is an outstanding team of young up and coming Haitian boxers including Evens Pierre (10-0, 9 ko’s), Johnny Orisme (3-0, 1 ko), Wilkey Campfort (1-0, 1 ko), Eli Augustama (5-0, 3 ko’s), Emmanuel Augustama (1-0, 1 ko), and Azea Augustama (2-0, 1 ko). The entertainment company Christ-Like Musiq will primarily do theatre shows and concerts. The theatre aspect of Christ-Like Musiq is preparing for its first tour where they will literally take their show on the road to several local venues in the South Florida area.
