MATT SERRA TO BE AT WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA THIS WEEKEND

Just a quick note that Matt Serra will be in attendance at Wizard World Philadelphia (www.wizardworld.com/home-pa.html), a comics and pop culture convention set for June 19-21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. He will meet fans, sign autographs and give a sneak peek at his Round 5 figurine, which is scheduled for release in late July/early August.

Matt will be on site at Wizard World on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. TNA Wrestling will also have a presence, with stars Tracy Brooks, Demolition, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and Jerry “The King” Lawler among the notables. Other special guests in attendance during the three-day event include actor Edward James Olmos, actress Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3), Lou Ferrigno (The Hulk) and dozens of comic book artists and writers. CES announces Godfrey-Hawk Headlining July 10 ESPN2 FNF show

PROVIDENCE (June 18, 2009) — Two of the best young cruiserweights in the world, Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey and Shawn “The Sioux Warrior” Hawk, have been on a collision course and lead promoter Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. (CES) officially announced today that Godfrey-Hawk will headline the July 10th ESPN2 Friday Night Fights show.

Godfrey (18-1, 10 KOs), rated No. 6 by the WBC and No. 7 by the IBF, will defend his NABF and SNBC belts against unbeaten challenger Hawk (18-0-1, 16 KOs) in the 10-round main event.

“Both of these cruiserweights were highly successful amateurs and now they are two of the top young contenders in the division,” CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. “Both are Native Americans, too. When Matt won the first Sovereign Nation Boxing Council (SNBC) belt, Shawn fought on the same card last November at 4 Bears Casino in North Dakota. This is the match-up American boxing fans want to see – two top fighters in against each other. Matt and Shawn have wanted to fight each other for a long time and now it’s finally going to happen.”

The Ring magazine’s No. 10-ranked Godfrey, who has Narragansett blood in his family, had a 194-23 amateur record, capturing six national championships, four open tournaments including the 2004 Everlast U.S. Championships, plus two in the Junior Olympics. He was a Bronze medal winner at the 2001 Pan-American Games, Silver Medalist in all four of that year’s national major tournaments – National Golden Gloves, PAL (Police Athletic League), U.S. Championships and U.S. Challenge — and six-time New England Golden Gloves champion.

As a pro, three of the 28-year-old Godfrey’s most impressive performances have been knockouts of Emmanuel Nwodo, Felix Cora, Jr. and Shaun George on ESPN. His lone loss was by 12-round decision 15 months ago in a WBC title eliminator to Rudolf Kraj in Germany, in which, Godfrey came on strong down the stretch only to run out of rounds.

Hawk, 25, is a full-blooded Sioux who comes from Crow Creek Reservation, North Dakota, which is the poorest Native American reservation in the country. Shawn had a 108-12 amateur record, including victories in four national championships, highlighted by a gold-medal performance at the National PAL Tournament when he was 14.

Tonight, I found out the true meaning of “no good deed goes unpunished.” After years of fighting to expose the truth behind the Xyience scandal I am now the last person in the bankruptcy process still fighting to get relief for burned shareholders. I try to send updates from time to time to all those with some connection to Xyience through past stock ownership and/or other affiliations. Every now and then someone asks to be removed from the list. Some people would just rather forget. Then there was tonight’s message from a woman named Diane Frank:

It’s nice to know you have the support of the people you are fighting for. I hope this is just misplaced anger or a misunderstanding, but it’s hard to tell. Unfortunately nobody believes it when you try to help for no reason at all. It’s just not the norm, and that’s a shame.

At any rate, the reason I really wanted to write this article is to highlight how Xyience is being sued again.

R&R International, INC. Just filed action against Xyience in Florida on April 13, 2009 over a distribution agreement gone sour. The agreement, according to the complaint, contained the following clause: “Xyience hereby grants the exclusive right to distribute and sell the Xyience Energy Drink brand product lines to Accounts in the state of Florida except for the area listed below and the exclusive license to use the Trademarks solely in connection therewith, in each case subject to the remaining provisions of this agreement. All additional distribution opportunities outside of the above mentioned territories will have to be approved by Xyience.”

Enter JP Beverage Distributors, requesting a significant order of Xyience product, the complaint explains. Under the first cause of action for breach of contract, R&R claims JP Beverage wound up buying the product shipment directly from Xyience after R&R already purchased everything to fill the same order from Xyience. Instead of cooperating with the agreement, it appears Xyience either intentionally or unintentionally breached it if the complaint’s allegations are true. In true scamster style, this situation would have resulted in Xyience getting paid twice for the same order. What’s worse is that the complaint also alleges Xyience stiffed R&R on an $8 commission for each case of Xenergy sold. Rather than confront the mess with integrity and professionalism, it seems the good folks at Xyience allegedly played hardball. The lawsuit paperwork also lays out how Xyience reportedly refused to duly credit R&R and then suddenly demanded payment on all outstanding invoices. This appears to be designed to back out of the contract the easy way if R&R could not pay and the contract were to go into default.

The complaint also adds a second breach of contract cause of action. This second claim details how Xyience’s billing and invoicing was not up to snuff and goes into further detail about other failures of Xyience to meet their responsibilities as outlined in the distribution agreement. For a company trying to make major inroads with distributors this could be a red flag proving the company is not really in good hands as its newly crowned CEO will try to tell folks even while the same old stuff keeps happening behind the scenes.

This site, claiming to be the home page for R&R, still proudly boasts of the Xyience agreement with the company. While the lawsuit does not specify exactly how much damage R&R sustained financially as a result of the alleged Xyience breaches, the complaint request in excess of $75,000 in damages, attorney fees and court costs, and a jury trial.

The case is rife with evidence, which includes paperwork initialed MCC (Manchester Consolidated Corporation I’m guessing) where Xyience is supposed to initial. Manchester, which has at least two core former-Cott executives on staff (Cott makes Xenergy) bought Xyience last year out of bankruptcy for $15 million. Today, a company called Manzen is the official DBA (doing business as) of Xyience, indicating Zyen, LLC (A Fertitta Enterprises Company) is still playing an integral role in company management. It appears the purchase was a “rent to own” type agreement and not an outright cash for assets deal.

The next hearing in my own Xyience case comes on July 1, 2009 and will be in regards to sanctions Fertitta Enterprises attorneys have asked the judge to levy against me. This should be an interesting episode of the Xyience saga to say the least. Go to www.xyiencesucks.com to learn more.

KENT (June 17, 2009) – “Cowboy Karate” founder and submission wrestling expert Dennis “Superman” Hallman (40-12-2) along with his Victory Athletics teammates Cory “The One” Devela (9-2), Brian Caraway (10-3), Len Bentley (3-2), and Steve Hadsel (1-0) entertained the local media and fans at a special open workout session at Vision Quest Sport and Fitness in Auburn, Washington on Wednesday, June 17, two days before their respective bouts on the Strikeforce Challengers mixed martial arts (MMA) event at ShoWare Center.

Hallman, who was originally scheduled to take on Cedric Marks, will face Justin Davis (11-7) on Friday.

The five competitors took their skills to Vision Quest’s mats and demonstrated their superior wrestling skills for which Victory is known.

Here is what the fighters said:

Dennis Hallman:

“I’ve had a couple of opponent changes. Justin Davis stepped up at the last moment. He’s a bigger guy so I’m going to go up in weight and fight him. He’s got good knockout power so my gameplan is going to have to be to neutralize his striking, take the fight to the mat where I’m the best in the world, and finish the fight with a submission.”

On his future in MMA: “I want to get the win and, then, things are kind of up in the air. I want to fight some more and build myself into a title contender and see if I can land a title.”

Cory Devela:

“I want to show everybody I’m better than I was before. Before, I was kind of untrained and slacking in my work ethic. Now, I’ve trained a lot harder and I’m definitely going to show it Friday.”

On Friday’s matchup with Luke Rockhold (4-1): “I’ve worked a lot on my stand up. From what I’ve seen this guy isn’t going to want to stand with me anyway. He’s going to try and shoot in and wrestle with me and that’s my strongest point, especially from having Dennis Hallman as my coach.”

Bryan Caraway:

“I’m really excited to fight in Strikeforce. This is my home state so I’m going to have a lot of friends and family out there on Friday. That gave me a lot of motivation to train as hard as possible for this fight.”

“I’m fighting a guy named Alex Zuniga. I’ve watched most of his amateur career. He’s not super technical in any area. I think I’m quite a bit better in every area, but he’s got power and he’s explosive

and he’s got an unorthodox style. If I stay nice and tight, it should be a pretty nice and easy victory for me.”

Steve Hadsel:

“I’m in the best shape I’ve been in. The guy I’m fighting – I think I’ve got better ground (skills) and better stand-up skills. I think I’ll probably end it in the first or second – always with a knockout or a TKO.”

Len Bentley:

On Friday’s matchup with Marques Daniels (1-2): “I know he’s tough. He’s a very athletic opponent. He’s not going to get tired. I’ve seen him fight. He fought one of our teammates (Sterling Ford) before. He’s dynamic, but he’s a small 155 pounder. I feel like my boxing outclasses his. My grappling, for sure, outclasses his. I want to keep the fight standing, give everybody an exciting fight, and knock him out.”

Tachi Palace’s own Manuel Quezada said he was ready to make his move in the Heavyweight division after winning his 16th straight fight in April of this year.

On Thursday, July 16 at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, California, Quezada will get his wish when he will be testing his World Championship aspirations against hard-hitting Heavyweight World contender, Travis “The Freight Train” Walker.

Quezada vs Walker headlines a stellar six-bout card of boxing presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions.

The 29-year old Walker (30-2-1, 24 KOs) came ever so close to upsetting the current #1 Heavyweight in the World, Cristobal Arreola, in a November 29, 2008 bout televised on HBO. Walker insists on fighting his way back into the top echelon in the sport’s glamour division and he believes Quezada is the next step.

A former National Golden Gloves Champion, the Tallahassee, Florida native has entertained fight fans with his “live by the sword, die by the sword” ring mentality. “I like to give the fans entertaining bouts, and knockouts from a big heavyweight puncher like me is always fun to watch,” said the 6-4, 250 pound Walker.

Walker’s only two setbacks were to TJ Wilson and Arreola. Walker avenged the Wilson loss in emphatic fashion with a 2nd round KO victory in the rematch of his controversial stoppage in their first fight. In the Arreola bout, Walker had Arreola down on one knee in the second round, before being stopped by Arreola in the third round in one of the most exciting heavyweight bouts in recent years.

Since the Arreola bout, Walker has scored two first round knockout victories.

Quezada (27-4, 17 KOs) has taken the hard bumpy road to being the WBC #11 World ranked contender. The Wasco, California Quezada overcame a slow start in his professional career to become one of the sports top rising stars. Quezada won the WBC CABOFE title in September of 2007 and has since defended it twice. Fresh from a first round win over Jeffrey Brownfield on April 23, Quezada returns to his home-away-from-home when he makes his 14th appearance at the Tachi Palace on July 16.

No slouch himself when it comes to putting opponents to sleep, a win over the respected Walker puts Quezada in the middle of the heavyweight picture. “By far he’s the biggest challenge I’ve had,” Quezada said. “It’s this type of high-profile fight I need to get me to the World Championship level. I will not let my fans down at Tachi.”

In the other featured bouts, 2008 United States Olympian Shawn Estrada (6-0, 6 KOs) hasn’t missed a beat in his transition from the amateurs to the pro ranks, scoring six straight wins without a loss. Estrada attended high school in nearby Hanford and feels right at home fighting in Lemoore.

“It’s not too often a fighter has a chance to entertain his friends and fans in a place I used to call home,” said Estrada. “Believe me, there is no better feeling than to have that home-cooking support. I wish they could have been there with me in Beijing, China during the Olympics.”

The charismatic 24-year old now living in East Los Angeles has one-punch knockout power and all the excitement that goes with it. Five of his six KO’s have come in the first round, a streak he hopes to keep going on July 16th.

Estrada’s Olympic teammate in Beijing, Javier Molina (2-0, 2 KOs), comes from a fighting family. The 19-year old Molina has had over 110 amateur wins preparing him for his Olympic run. An honor student at John Glenn High School in Norwalk, California, Molina is quickly establishing himself as a consummate professional and future star.

Also in action is the exciting junior welterweight from Bakersfield, Calif., Michael Dallas Jr. (8-0-1, 1 KO), as well women’s former lightweight champion, Jessica Rakoczy (30-3, 10 KOs) from Las Vegas, Nevada. The card featuring Curiel (18-8-2, 5 KO’s) from nearby Verona, New Jersey and a graduate of Paterson Eastside High School will meet Osorio (12-5, 10 KO’s) of Colombia in the main event.

Curiel scored a sensation victory in 2007 when he traveled to England and stopped Ross Minter (17-1-1) in the final seconds of their eight round bout in front of Minter’s adoring fans. In his last bout, Curiel went back to England but was on the short end of a tenth round stoppage against Anthony Small (19-1) in a bout for the WBA International Jr. Middleweight title.

Osorio will be desperate to get back in the win column as he has dropped three in a row to a high level of competition which includes his last two bouts to hot prospect Antwone Smith and tough veteran Daniel Edouard
