On the 8th August when Caramelito Promotions´ own boxers Pekka Eskelinen, Roope Puumalainen and Janne Katajisto are climbing on the ring at Ulvila as boxers coming from the red corner there will be also another boxer beside them as a home boxer when Ugandan born but now Swedish based Patrick Bogere (1-0, 0 KO) will hunt for his second victory as a pro boxer.
Bogere is former four-time Swedish champion as amateur and have also competed in Olympic games at Athens back in 2004 as the only boxer from Scandinavia countries. Bogere, who has as amateur the total record of 95-25, has twice represented Sweden at European championships. At his pro debut Bogere won a former member of Russian national amateur team, Alexey Shorovkov by unanimous decision after four rounds.

Bushkill, PA (June 16, 2009)—“Fast” Eddie Chambers has been training relentlessly for his July 4th showdown with undefeated Alexander Dimitrenko which will take place in Hamburg, Germany.
Chambers has been training at the Fernwood Resort in Bushkill, Pennsylvania which is up in the Pocono Mountains.
Chambers, 34-1 with eighteen knockouts is looking to ride the momentum of his victory over Samuel Peter in March and a victory of Dimitrenko (29-0, 19 KO’s) is a WBO Eliminator with the winner receiving a coveted shot at the winner of This weekend’s fight between reigning champion Wladimir Klitschko and Ruslan Chagaev.
“I see the light at the end of tunnel”, said Chambers, “I have never trained this hard. I know what’s at stake. I respect that he is undefeated but he has never been in with anyone near my abilities. My trainer Rob Murray Sr. and I have come up with the gameplan to not only win this fight but do it in dominating fashion.”

STRIKEFORCE WOMEN TO FIGHT 5-MINUTE ROUNDS

For First STRIKEFORCE Women’s Championship
SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 16, 2009)–-Late last week, leading mixed martial arts promoter STRIKEFORCE received approval from the state athletic commissions supervising its upcoming events—Washington (Friday, June 19); and California (Aug. 15)—to have its female professional mixed martial arts bouts contested at the professional standard of five-minute rounds.
Until now, three-minute rounds were the norm for most female fights in the United States.
“We are proud to be leading this movement in Mixed Martial Arts,” said Scott Coker, Founder and CEO of STRIKEFORCE. “This will allow the women competing at the elite professional level ample time to set up and fully execute a particular fight strategy. This is another great day for all of us in MMA.”
An internal statement from STRIKEFORCE Rules Director Cory Schafer, announcing the news to the company, read in part: “…limiting each round to three minutes in duration was designed (by state athletic commissions) as a safety measure for the protection of less experienced fighters, with no designation for gender. It was never intended as a gender bias against female professionals…”
Schafer’s statement continued, “Use of this standard will level the playing field for (the) female athletes in providing them with the time necessary to develop and execute their striking and grappling strategies in each round.”
“It is great that the largest stage females have in MMA is setting a solid foundation in implementing five-minute rounds,” said Gina Carano, who is set to face Cris Cyborg in the first women’s main event, a championship fight (five, 5-minute rounds) on August 15 on SHOWTIME. “I feel Strikeforce is taking female fighters seriously, which means we will be seeing some amazing fights in the future and I am honored to be a part of it.”
“This is a great opportunity for Shayna (Baszler) and me to have this happen before our fight,” said Sarah Kaufman (9-0 of Victoria, B.C.) who will face Baszler on Friday night’s Strikeforce Challengers card in Kent, Wash. (SHOWTIME, 11 p.m. ET/PT). “I am always ready to go five-minute rounds and I know Shayna will also be ready. More importantly, this is long-awaited recognition that we are competing at the highest level of the sport.”

SOUTHHAVEN, Miss. (June 16, 2009) – Undefeated middleweight prospect Fernando Guerrero may have been flying under the radar during his young pro career, but that ends Friday night when he fights in his first main event, headlining the “Boxing’s Future Champions” pay-per-view pro card at Wicomico Civic Center in Salisbury, Maryland.
“Boxing’s Future Champions,” presented by Prize Fight Boxing, will air on PPV at www.PrizeFightTV.com, commencing at 8 PM/ET, for only $4.95.
Guerrero (13-0, 11 KOs), born in the Dominican Republic, has become somewhat of a boxing cult hero in his hometown of Salisbury, where he had “banged-out the house” in past appearances there. Even though he’s fought twice on ESPN and once on Showtime, the multi-talented southpaw will really spread his wings starting Friday against Brian “The Assassin” Norman (17-8, 5 KOs) in the 8-round main event.
The 22-year-old Guerrero, who captured gold medals at the World Cadet Junior Olympics and 2007 USA National Championships, embraces the popularity he’s developed at home in Salisbury and he’s prepared to make his mark at a higher level fighting on the www.PrizeFightTV.com PPV event.
“Norman is my height (5-9) and I know he comes to fight,” Guerrero said. “Fans watching me for the first time will see an exciting fighter with all-around skills who is going to do whatever it takes to win. I’m going to give them what they like and want – an aggressive fighter. He’s going to go head-to-head with me, too. The louder the fans scream, the harder we’ll fight. I can’t wait!”
Fernando will also have an opportunity to watch his older (by 5 years) brother, cruiserweight Alex Guerrero, make his pro debut Friday evening in a 4-round bout versus Rodrika Ray (2-1, 1 KO). “My brothers are the reason I’m boxing,” Fernando explained. “My manager and trainer, Hal Chernoff, came by our house to pick-up my brothers to bring them to his gym (Main Street Gym in Salisbury). I was standing outside of our house and Hal asked why I wasn’t coming to the gym. I said, ‘I’m the smart one.’ I was a good athlete and played just about every sport other than boxing. I finally went to the gym, tried boxing, but didn’t like it. I went home and thought things over, thinking maybe I was just being lazy. I decided to box, just to do something, and I’ve been there ever since. It’s about time my brother turned pro and I’m excited about watching him make his pro debut Friday night before I fight.”
The 6-round co-feature matches 2007 World Golden Gloves champion and U.S. Olympic Team alternate, Shawn Porter (8-0, 6 KOs), against upset-minded junior middleweight Dion Savage (5-0, 3 KOs), in a rare match-up of unbeaten prospects.
Unbeaten super middleweights Farah Enis (10-0, 5 KOs), of Philadelphia, and Bobby Jordan (6-0, 2 KOs) put their unbeaten records on the line in an 8-round bout.
Also on the undercard is exciting middleweight Dominic Wade (2-0, 2 KOs) against Anthony Cannon (4-12, 1 KO) in a 4-round bout, plus Farah’s older brother, Derrick “Pooh” Ennis, Jr. (17-2, 12 KOs), takes on junior middleweight Joshua “Poison” Onyango (14-17, 11 KOs) in an 8-round match.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (June 15, 2009) – Tickets for Strikeforce: “Carano vs. Cyborg,” the mixed martial arts (MMA) mega fight card that will be highlighted by the long-awaited showdown between superstar Gina Carano and Brazilian brawler and powerhouse Cris Cyborg at HP Pavilion on Saturday, Aug. 15, are officially on sale.
Tickets start at $30 and are available at the HP Pavilion box office (408-287-7070), all Ticketmaster locations (800-745-3000), Ticketmaster online (www.ticketmaster.com), and the official STRIKEFORCE website (www.strikeforce.com).
The undefeated Carano (7-0) and her top rival, Cyborg (7-1), are slated to battle five, 5-minute rounds in the first-ever fight for the STRIKEFORCE Women’s 145-Pound World Title.
The most-desired matchup in the history of women’s MMA is also one that is undeniably the most dangerous assignment to date for a pair regarded as the preeminent female fighters in the world.
Carano, who will be trained for this fight by MMA legend Randy “The Natural” Couture, has achieved larger than life status over the course of the last year. In a Yahoo! online poll that named the “Top 10 Influential Women of 2008,” the 27 year-old Las Vegas resident ranked fifth, placing ahead of First Lady Michelle Obama and famed journalists Katie Couric and Barbara Walters. Carano has also been featured in the pages of Maxim and profiled by ESPN’s newsmagazine show E:60.
Confident of ruining Carano’s eagerly awaited return to the cage is the rugged 23-year-old Cyborg, who has been known to devastate foes with brute strength and has been calling out Carano for several months. Cyborg, along with her husband and fellow Strikeforce competitor Evangelista Cyborg, is a member of Brazil’s famed fight squad, Chute Boxe.
In the Aug.15 semi-main, Josh “The Punk” Thomson (16-2), of San Jose, will put his STRIKEFORCE lightweight belt and eight-fight winning streak on the line against current interim titleholder, Gilbert “El Nino” Melendez (15-2), of San Francisco. Thomson won a decision to dethrone Melendez on June 27, 2008.
SHOWTIME will televise the two world title fights and up to three more bouts during a telecast that will begin at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
