Posted on | October 20, 2011 | No Comments

MMA Fighters Mike Massenzio and Ryan Martinez join Tony “The Tornado” Penecale and “Rabble Rousin'” Rich Bergeron on tonight’s FNU Combat Sports Show. Tune in from 8PM EST to 10:00 PM EST to listen to the broadcast. We will also discuss the bizarre finish to the Bernard Hopkins vs. Chad Dawson fight.
Our guest interviews begin with an 8:30 discussion with UFC 185-pounder Mike Massenzio (13-5-0). The New Jersey middleweight beat Steve Cantwell at UFC 136 to secure his future in the league and prove he is still dangerous. We’ll ask him what’s next and who he’s most interested in fighting. Massenzio’s past opponents include Brian Stann, CB Dolloway, Drew McFredries, Danillo Vilefort, Dan Miller, Krzysztof Soszynski, and Lance Everson. After his come-from-behind victory against Cantwell, Massenzio said, “I’ll fight whoever the UFC gets me. I feel good about being able to be in there with some of the best and hang. To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best. So whatever they decide to do, I’ll go with it. I’m all about heart, and I’m always going to go out there and fight with everything I’ve got, every fight.”
Ryan Martinez joins us at 9:15. He is a pro MMA fighter with a record of  5-1 and is ranked #3 as a heavyweight in the state of Colorado. He’s an elite striker with a focus on kickboxing and also has All American wrestling skills. He’s both the Fight to Win Heavyweight Champion and the Rocky Mountain Bad Boyz Heavyweight Champion.

For Immediate Release
CANASTOTA, NY – OCTOBER 20, 2011 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame is pleased to announce one of today’s boxing stars, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, has donated fight-worn boxing trunks to the Hall. Guerrero donated the trunks he wore in his November 6, 2010 win (W 10) over Vicente Escobedo.

“We’re so pleased to have Robert’s trunks in the Hall of Fame,” said Hall director Ed Brophy. “He’s a dynamic young fighter and fans will surely enjoy seeing his memorabilia.”

Fighting out of Gilroy, CA, Guerrero turned pro in 2001 and won the NABF featherweight title in 2004. He reigned twice as IBF featherweight champion (2006, 2007-2008) before vacating the title to campaign as a super featherweight. On August 22, 2009 he won the IBF super featherweight crown with 12-round win over Malcolm Klassen. He relinquished the title to care for his wife as she battled leukemia. Guerrero returned to the ring in April 2010 to stop Robert Arrieta via 8th round TKO in his lightweight debut. Three impressive victories followed, including 10-round wins over Joel Casamayor, Escobedo and Michael Katsidis. Guerrero was forced to withdraw from a recent junior welterweight title bout against Marcos Maidana after he suffered a shoulder injury. His pro record stands at 29-1-1 (18 KOs).

Thank you to Guerrero for his donation, as well as his publicist Mario Serrano for his assistance.
