Warrior One MMA – Reloaded
Posted on | October 14, 2011 | No Comments
Warrior One MMA is pleased to announce the exciting addition and new co-main event bout between top-rated Miami lightweight Luis “Baboon” Palomino and his Orlando counterpart Edson “Little Tiger” Berto. This match was originally to happen under the Bellator banner. Through good relations and working closely with many of Bellator’s counterparts, Miami fans will now experience this explosive matchup close to home with W-1. After the disappointing news that Jeff Monson had to withdraw from the bout with Gabriel Gonzaga, Marcus “The Irish Hand Grenade” Davis, moves to main event status as he takes on fellow Massachusetts native and TUF/UFC contender Chuck “Cold Steel” O’Neil.
Presented for Fox Sports Net, this nationally televised epic battle promises to live up to the hype as it replaces the former main event. Mr. Gonzaga will now headline the next W-1 event on February 25, 2012.
Included on this star-studded W-1 card is middleweight star and MMA-Masters standout Valdir “BBMonster” Aruajo, making his official W-1 debut against perennial contender Mike “El Gringo Diablo” Bernhard. This long-awaited matchup promises to be the Fight Of The Year. Additionally featured is 6-1 welterweight John Manley of Team Link in Massachusetts will take on 4-2 American Top Team (ATT) alumni Sabah Homasi. Lone Canadian and 4-2 W-1 veteran Tom “the Bomb” Waters and South Florida MMA Academy’s Alan Arzeno will battle for North American bragging rights. Rounding out the main card will be JP Rees (ATT) vs. Taylor Callens, Nathen Coy (ATT) vs. Anderson Melo (Guerreiro Team), Bruno Reis Da Maria vs. Kenny Moss (Fighters Quest), Joe Watson vs. Frank Carrillo (MMA-Masters).
W-1 is pleased to announce the first female fight in its history, as one of the world’s most famous female fighters, Kim “Sugar Free” Couture, will take on ATT instructor Suzie Montero, in her long-awaited MMA premier. Kim is coming off a controversial loss to Sheila Bird and plans to make an example of Suzie, a stand-up specialist vying to make a name for herself in this MMA debut.

Kevin Nash Tired of Ricky Morton’s Act ‘AWE Wrestling: Night Of The Legends’ PPV
Posted on | October 14, 2011 | No Comments
Tomorrow night in Virginia
FISHERSVILLE, Virginia (October 13, 2011) – A decade of bad blood will literally spill-over into the ring Saturday as “Big Sexy” Kevin Nash takes out his frustrations on re-sentful Ricky Morton, one half of The Rock-n-Roll Express, in the featured match of the “AWE Wrestling: Night Of The Legends” Pay-Per-View event, live from Augusta Expo in Fishersville, Virginia.
Nash, a former WWE and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and his mystery tag-team partner will throw-down with the former three-time NWA Tag Team Champions, Morton and Robert Gibson (The Rock-n-Roll Express), to finally settle the score once and for all between Nash and Morton in front of a live national television/Internet au-dience and a packed live house in Virginia.
“I don’t know what his gripe is,” Nash said, “but he’s been on a tirade against me since the social networking, You Tube boom. He hates me. Nobody else is lumped in, only Kevin Nash, I didn’t really do anything. He is just a bitter old-timer guy who wasn’t as good a businessman as I am. He brings-up this situation over the course of time. What’s his problem? Hate is a strong word. I dislike but don’t hate a lot of people. It’s almost a sign of ignorance. You can dislike me, or disapprove of what I do….but hate?”
Nash’s tag-team partner will not be announced until fight night. Despite all of the speculation concerning who it is, Kevin doesn’t believe it will really matter, once he gets Morton in the ring. “Once I get my hands on Morton,” Nash remarked, “it won’t matter who my partner is. All it’s really going to be is a matter of how long the cat will play with the mouse before it’s enough. It’s like in the movie, Seven, when Brad Pitt unloads a clip into Kevin Spacey’s head. I would have used a potato peeler and rub-bing alcohol.”
Morton resents Nash cashing-in after Ricky, who claims he paved the way for Kevin’s financial success, was let loose by the WCW before making megabucks from wres-tling, endorsement deals and major public appearances like Nash and some other wrestlers. “He’s been doing this for 10 years, so three minutes isn’t going to be enough to squelch this on my part,” Nash concluded. “I want him to realize what he’s been saying. Maybe, I’ll teach an old man something new late in his life.”
The Awesome Wrestling Entertainment (AWE) superstar show will be available for live viewing at 9 PM/ET – 6 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN De-mand, DIRECTV, AT & T and Verizon in the United States, as well as Bell TV in Cana-da, for a suggested retail price of only $24.95. The broadcast will also be available live on an Internet pay-per-view basis at www.AWEonPPV.com and www.GFL.TV.
As if Nash versus Morton doesn’t offer enough animosity, legendary warrior Terry Funk goes mano-y-mano with his protégé, former ECW superstar Tommy Dreamer, to determine who the true King of Hardcore wrestling is in 2011. Dreamer, a 14-time WWF/WWE Hardcore Champion and two-time ECW world title-holder, plans to send the ageless Hall of Fame wrestler Funk, a two-time ECW and NWA heavyweight champion, into a retirement home for wrestlers.
And patriotic wrestling icon “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, waving the American flag and wielding his trademark 2 X 4, goes at hated Arab-American oil magnate, Mohammad Akbar, with a special vengeance.
After nine long years on the sidelines, Perry Saturn will make the most significant comeback in wrestling history, jumping right back into the fire against deadly enforcer CW Anderson.
WWE and WCW title-holder Fit Finlay battles 21-year-old rising-star and the AWE Heavyweight prospect, “Loose Cannon” Alex Silva, who will have “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel in his corner, and Sonjay Dutt meets Jamin Olivencia.
Other wrestlers among the 30 all-stars being showcased at the AWE Legends extrava-ganza include three-time WCW World Heavyweight Champion Diamond Dallas Page (“DDP”), Amy “Lita” Dumas, former World Tag Team Champion and “Four Horsemen” member, Tully Blanchard with Babydoll, Midnight Express, Ivan Koloff, and Tommy “Wildfire” Rich. All wrestlers and matches are subject to change.

RYAN ASTON AND TOMMY GHENT JOIN MATCHROOM SPORT
Posted on | October 14, 2011 | No Comments
Hearn excited by promising Birmingham pair
Matchroom Sport are delighted to announce that promising Birmingham fighters Ryan Aston and Tommy Ghent have signed promotional deals.
The decorated amateur duo have already fought on Matchroom bills, with Aston making his debut when Kell Brook fought Lovemore N’dou, and Ghent’s pro bow featuring on the undercard of Brook’s dazzling victory over Rafal Jackiewicz.
Ghent – a 19 year-old Welterweight – represented England many times and won NABC and Golden Glove honours as an amateur, while Aston – a 20 year-old Middleweight – won five national titles among his many medals as an amateur. The former has made a striking start to life in the paid ranks with a second round knockout on debut in Birmingham followed by forcing the second round retirement of Nick Coret in Sheffield after dropping him.
Aston was also due to fight for the first time under the Matchroom banner on the undercard of Brook’s win over Jackiewicz, but a cut from his last fight against Dean Walker though a clash of heads meant he had to miss out. But the 20 year-old is hoping to get out again before the year is out and said it was an easy decision to join Hearn’s impressive stable of British fighters, after leaving David Haye and Adam Booth’s Hayemaker team.
“The plan Eddie put on the table is great – too good to refuse,” said Aston, who is 3-0 at the start of his pro career. “I like Eddie as a person, I boxed on the Brook vs. N’dou show and I enjoyed fighting on his show and talking to him about my career and boxing in general so it made sense.
“The cut has worked out fine, it didn’t need stitching so it’s turned out well so now with a bit of luck I’ll be out again in November.
“I’ve had a great start to my career with Adam Booth and the rest of the Hayemaker team, and the agreement I had with them was one that made this move very easy. I will always be grateful to Adam for the help and guidance he gave me, and to David and George (Groves) too.”
“I am delighted to welcome Ryan and Tommy to the Matchroom Sport stable,” said Hearn. “Ryan debuted on our Sheffield show and appeared on the David Haye show the next week – that shows he has no fear and is eager to get rounds under his belt which is great to see. Tommy has made a perfect start to his pro career and really impressed me in Sheffield, he’s a hot prospect I’ve been aware of for a while now. Both lads have got great people behind them so my job with them both is easy – get them dates so they can showcase their stuff.”

“This fight is Oct 15 at the O’Riely center in what looks to be another packed house as fans have been snatching tickets at an incredible pace. All floor and ringside level seats have been sold out for over two weeks and this fight will bring in close to 3500 fans. The WBC Continental Americas belt and the WBA Feclatino title will be on the line. This card is another hybrid mixed professional boxing and professional MMA event and has combined all the good fighters in this area to make sure and give fans from both boxing and MMA a great night of entertainment.”, said Flores
“As I have said this is a new chapter in my career! Having Don King in my corner I know the big fights are attainable. This will be my second fight in less than three months! I have a lot of work to do but in this fight, just like the last you will see a knockout. I guarantee even tho this guy hasn’t been KO’d before that he will not last the 12 round distance”.
