CARL FROCH MIGHT BE THE MAN TO BEAT KESSLER

Barker: Froch could beat Kessler
Unbeaten middleweight Darren Barker believes Carl Froch is a future world super-middleweight champion and could beat Mikkel Kessler.
The Barnet boxer, who challenges Australian Ben Crampton for the Commonwealth crown on a Hennessy Sports show at the York Hall on November 14th, sparred with Kessler in Copenhagen last month.
WBA and WBC super-middleweight champion Kessler used Barker as his sparring partner ahead of the fight Saturday’s fight with Welshman Joe Calzaghe, the WBO champion.
Barker has also sparred with Froch, who he rates as better than Kessler.
“I’ve sparred with them both and they are both very good,” said Darren. “Carl will definitely go all the way, judging on what Kessler is like.
“Carl hits harder than him and is a very smart boxer. He is good enough to become undisputed champion in a very hot division.
“At the top level there is a very fine level between winning and losing – and Carl has definitely got what it takes. He has got what it takes to beat Kessler – and anyone else in the division.
“It was great sparring with Kessler, who is a nice guy. It gave me confidence ahead of my Commonwealth Title fight and I’m optimistic for the future

Belgian knockout artist Jackson Osei Bonsu retained the EBU welterweight title last night in Mazures, France, with a third round knockout over Frenchman Nordine Mouchi. Jackson´s fearsome power in either hand have made him the most avoided fighter in Europe.
New Danish promoter Robert Larsen´s first show last night in Gladsaxe can hardly be called success boxingwise. In the mainevent Robert Osiobe had a very soft touch in Peter Balasz, who bascially was just looking for a place to fall down on. Balasz came in as a very late sub for Laszlo Bognar. Welter Christian Bladt had tough night but salvaged a close win with a last round knockdown against Laszlo Komjathi. What Larsen had success with was the event itself with a big crowd on hand and a solid amateur card. Robert is back November 24 in Gilleleje, again with Osiobe and Bladt as the main guys and possible with the comeback of heavyweight Ingvardt Jorgensen.
EBU cruiser champ Vincenzo Cantatore defends the title against Dane Johny Jensen December 14 in Rome. It´s a voluntary defence by Cantatore, who won the title with a close call over Ukrainian Aleksander Gourov. Jensen won the WBA I/C belt in his last fight.
It will now be Panamanian Ahmet Diaz that fight ex-WBA welter champ Souleyman M´Baye November 10 in Paris. Jr middle Christophe Canclaux is now also on the bill that is topped by David Haye vs Jean Marc Mormeck.
R 2 Images & Event returns to Casino Vilamoura in Portugal with jr light Antonio Joao Bento on top against Hungarian Zsolt Nagy.
Pro Box Scandinavia in Stockholm, Sweden, will promote a show in Kampala, Uganda, December 27. PBS have the likes of feather Abdul Sebazalwa, Hassan Saku and jr welter Peter Semo under contract. Come January PBS wants are looking to do a show in Gavle, Sweden.

SHOXC FINAL QUOTES
‘
Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007,
Chumash Casino Resort. Santa Ynez, Calif.
Two undefeated 205-pound fighters with nearly identical records will clash when Aaron Rosa (10-0) faces Jared Hamman (9-0) in one of the co-featured bouts on ShoXC: Elite Challenger Series on SHOWTIME Friday, Oct. 26, at 11 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast).
In another excellent matchup in the other co-feature, Javier “Showtime” Vazquez (11-2) will meet JC “Crayola’’ Pennington (14-3-1) in a 150-pound fight.
Other fights on a telecast presented by Los Angeles-based ProElite, Inc.’s Live Fight Division, EliteXC: Malaipet (2-1) collides with Kaleo ‘’Lights Out’’ Kwan (8-6) at 155 pounds; Taurus “Mushin” Corbbrey (11-2, 1 NC) battles Bobby “Wolverine” McMaster (8-1) at 155 pounds; and in a bout that further illustrates EliteXC’s commitment to women’s MMA, Shayna Baszler (9-4) takes on Jennifer “Rosebud’’ Tate (4-0) at 135 pounds.
The televised fights at Chumash Casino Resort at Santa Ynez, Calif. are scheduled for three, 5-minute rounds with the exception of Baszler-Tate, which is slated for three, 3-minute rounds.
Three additional fights will be streamed live on the Internet at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on the premier MMA social networking and entertainment site, ProElite.com: In scheduled three, 3-minute round contests: Chris Cariaso (5-0) faces Rick McCorkell (6-3) at 135 pounds; Jaime Fletcher (8-2) meets Giva Santana (9-0) at 185 pounds; and Shane Del Rosario (2-0) collides with Amedeo Viola (debut) at 265 pounds. A scheduled fight between Fabricio “Morango” Camoes and Ryan Bixler fell out late Friday night after Bixler withdrew.
AARON ROSA
“I am getting paid for what I love to do. I grew up in MMA and just love everything about it: the training, the fighting, and the people. I just have a passion for it like everyone else.
“Coming right back on SHOWTIME is really exciting. I want to do well so they will ask me back, but I know I need to keep winning to get where I want to go. So I keep working even harder. I always give my best and love to fight. I love to match my will against my opponent’s.
“I am known as a striker and some think I am anti-Jiu-Jitsu but I am not really anti-Jiu-Jitsu. If there is a submission to be had I will go for it. I am always looking for my opponent to make a mistake and pounce on them.
“I guess I have a lot of common with Hamman. We are both undefeated, both played football, we’re about the same height and we are Christians.
“This is going to be a tremendous fight.’’
JARED HAMMAN
“I’ve never had a fight go to a decision. Like I tell the college football players I coach, you go for it right away so you don’t put anyone else in the position to decide it for you. I take it round by round, minute by minute, just like I tell my players to take it play-by-play and give it everything you’ve got.
“I fight stand-up but have been working hard on my ground game. I think I have improved it a lot. I don’t feel I am one-dimensional and I can adjust to whatever my opponent is doing.
“I don’t know much about Rosa, so I don’t know if this is going to be my toughest fight. But it is going to be a great fight and I am going to give my all.
“Being unbeaten is fine, but who you beat is more important. I know a win over Rosa will mean a lot to me.’’
JAVIER VAZQUEZ
“It’s about time that a guy whose nickname is ‘Showtime’ is finally getting to fight on his network. Seriously, though, all my fights are thrilling. They are never boring. Fans always get a show. Friday will not be an exception.
“I wasn’t satisfied with my last fight. I took a lot more punishment than I should have, or am accustomed to. I didn’t do what I always do. But I am ready for a top performance now.
“Pennington is a good all-around fighter but I feel I am at a higher level than him. I don’t say it, but people are always saying that I am an elite fighter.
“I know Pennington is coming to win, but this is my chance to prove I belong to be mentioned with some of others in my weight class. I am looking forward to getting it on Friday night.’’
JC PENNINGTON
“I was beyond thrilled when I was offered this fight and nearly stressed for two weeks waiting for it to become official. This is a great opportunity for me to be able to fight on SHOWTME.
“I am definitely excited. I promise this will not be a disappointing fight. Win or lose, I am going to have fun. I am very confident. I have been working with a lot of good people on my stand-up and I think it is getting pretty good. I know I am feeling more and more comfortable.
“I know my opponent is very good and that I am the underdog. But I am going to test him and push the pace.
“He hasn’t been all that active and I noticed his cardio wasn’t all that good in his last fight. My last three fights have gone the distance and my cardio has been great.
“I want to try and keep this run going as long as I can and be the best I can be. This is the kind of fighter I want to fight.’’
KALAO KWAN
“Hawaii has a lot of great fighters and the fans know we come to fight.
“Malaipet comes in very highly regarded, but it is exciting for me to get a chance to showcase my skills and see where I am at talent-wise with others at my weight.
“Malaipet prefers to fight but he has some weaknesses, which I am going to try and expose. I don’t think he does all that well on the ground.
“This is really an important fight for me. Win this fight and I may be able to attract some offers that will allow me to quit my job as a construction worker. I work construction now to support my wife and six children.
“I have been training very hard and I know what I have to do Friday.’’
MUSHIN CORBBREY
“This is going to be a fun, tough fight. I expect McMaster to stay in and stand. He is a good fighter, but I feel I have fought better fighters.
“My goal every fight is to finish my opponent, but winning is the most important thing.
“I think fans got a little restless in my last fight against Lee Gibson, but Lee is a really tough fighter who just was not going to go away no matter what I did. I was looking for a knockout, but he was totally game and took a lot of shots, especially to his legs.
“No respect to McMaster, but I feel I am ready to step up and fight the very best guys. I think I should be fighting main events soon. I would fight any of the so-called top guys in a heartbeat.
“I want to fight as often as possible. Being a professional boxer, I could be boxing in the next few weeks if everything goes OK Friday. My goal is to win world championship belts in MMA and boxing.’’
SHAYNA BASZLER
“Jennifer is tough and aggressive and has big hands. She likes to press the pace and dictate the pace. She has been able to get away with that so far, but I don’t think anyone she has fought will fight back like I will.
“I have fought the best women in MMA. I am confident I can beat any of them on my best day.
“I am looking forward to Friday and fighting on SHOWTIME. Along with EliteXC, they have really helped fighters like me make a name for myself. I hope to continue to take advantage of these types of fabulous opportunities.’’
SHANE DEL ROSARIO
“I really am looking forward to fighting on ProElite.com. This will give a whole lot of people a chance to see what I can do.
“I don’t know what to expect, except that this will be a good fight and a good win might mean a fight next time on ShoXC.’’
AMADEO VIOLA
“When it is all said and done, it is not the material stuff that adds to your legacy but what you do in the cage.
“I am anxious, but not nervous, for my MMA debut. I want to make a good impression on the fans and with EliteXC and SHOWTIME. I am confident I can do that.’’

CSAC IN DEEP DUE TO 500 MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT
Posted on | October 29, 2007 | 1 Comment
CSAC Under Fire & Scrambling in response to New Era Fighting lawsuit
SANTA ANA, California (October 29, 2007) – After being named in a lawsuit filed by New Era Fighting (NEF) for $500,000,000, embattled California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) Executive Director Armando Garcia responded by announcing a review of NEF’s promotional licensing renewal, incredibly, 10 months after the CSAC cashed NEF’s check for its 2007-2008 promoter’s license, and two weeks after a legal claim had been delivered to the State.
NEF President Ron Kort filed the lawsuit because of a pattern and practice by the California State Athletic Commission of intentionally, willfully and viciously interfering with a licensed and approved event, which effected and injured New Era Fighting in the same or similar fashion as other mixed martial arts promoters, managers and fighters.
The California State Athletic Commission, Frank Munoz (CSAC Staff Services Analyst), and the State’s Department of Consumer Affairs were also named in the lawsuit, which is the result of the CSAC’s cease and desist order, issued only minutes prior to and forcing the cancellation of NEF’s much publicized scheduled tryouts on July 19 in Montebello (CA). The CSAC claimed NEF President Ron Kort wasn’t a licensed promoter despite having approved his application, awarding him a promoter’s license, and cashing his renewal check for 2007 (copies available upon request).
NEF is a mixed martial arts fighting organization that combines the raw brutality of mixed martial arts with entertaining, sexy and dramatic themes. It has launched possibly the largest suit in California history against the aforementioned parties for loss of revenues (past, present and future), film production, media exposure, credibility, television show, venue deposits, fighters and opportunity costs.
“Simply amazing,” Kort said. “Ten months after my promoter’s license renewal was approved and my check cashed by the California State Athletic Commission, as well as two weeks after we filed suit, that’s the best Mr. Garcia could come up with. A letter saying they were going to review my renewal. It’s also the first time he made himself available to me, so to speak, despite numerous requests for a meeting with him. It appears that Armando Garcia is only available to promoters after he’s caught doing something wrong.
“Maybe Mr. Garcia’s treatment of New Era Fighting is just his way of exerting power over Kimo Leopoldo (“KIMO”), the face of NEF, for KIMO fighting overseas because Mr. Garcia wouldn’t give him a proper hearing for a show in June of 2006. Whether you like NEF or not, the CSAC appears to have purportedly damaged so many other fight promoters, managers and fighters that people are fed-up and coming forward to speak out against the CSAC and supporting NEF by telling their stories.”
If you have been victimized by the CSAC, feel free to confidentially share your experiences by sending emails to FightBack@NewEraFighting.com. Your names and identities will be used only with your express permission to use them.
“We have informed Mr. Garcia, due to our pending litigation against him, the CSAC and other named defendants, that any further communications must be directed to our attorneys,” Kort added.
For more information about NEF call 714.973.3053/714.448.9999 or go on line to www.NewEraFighting.com.

DUDDY TO MAKE A ROYAL ENTRANCE DECEMBER 8TH IN BELFAST
Posted on | October 29, 2007 | No Comments
Duddy confirms dream date at Kings Hall
John Duddy will fulfil a long held ambition on December 8th when he headlines a massive night of boxing at the legendary Kings Hall in Belfast.
The unbeaten Derry middleweight will follow in the footsteps of legendary local fighters such as Rinty Monaghan, Freddie Gilroy, Johnny Caldwell, Barry McGuigan, Dave McAuley and Wayne McCullough when he ducks between the ropes at the famous old venue.
It promises to be a real treat for Belfast fight fans and Duddy can’t wait. “I’ve always wanted to fight at the Kings Hall and now I’m going to get the opportunity. When I turned professional the two venues I wanted to fight in were Madison Square Garden in New York and the Kings Hall. I’ve been lucky enough to fight at the Garden now a few times so to add the Kings Hall to the list will be something special.”
The venue has always been synonymous with boxing but it really came to the world’s attention in the mid 80’s when Barry McGuigan headlined there en route to winning the world title. Duddy is hoping that that his career can follow a similar route. The 28-year-old said, “Obviously everyone knows about the Kings Hall from the McGuigan days. That’s over 20 years ago now but people still talk about the atmosphere during those nights and it would be great if we were able to generate that kind of atmosphere again in December.”
While plans to face world middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik are on the backburner for the time being Duddy feels he is closing in on a world title fight. “Definitely that’s something to look forward to for next year but obviously I need to keep winning and that’s what I intend doing again on December 8th.
Promoter Brian Peters says he’s delighted to be bringing big time boxing back to Belfast. “There probably isn’t too many other cities with the kind of boxing tradition that Belfast enjoys but to be honest the fight fans there have been a bit starved of big fights in the last few years. This promises to be an absolutely terrific night of top class boxing. John is going to have a real fight on his hands and I will be confirming his opponent later this week at a press conference in Belfast. I’m looking at a number of attractive matches for the undercard too including a number of title fights. I think it’s going to be a real value for money card and the kind of fight night that will remind people of the great nights at the Kings Hall down through the years.”
