‘The Big Brawl’ live in U.S. July 23 from London

HOBOKEN, N.J. (July 7, 2011) – Trans-Atlantic boxer Ashley “Treasure” Theophane defends his British Boxing Board of Control (“BBB of C”) light welterweight title July 23 in the 12-round co-feature against Welsh champion Jason “The Power” Cook on “The Big Brawl” Pay-Per-View Event, live from Wembley Arena in London.

“The Big Brawl” features undefeated Irishman Tyson Fury (14-0, 10 KOs) challenging British and Commonwealth heavyweight Champion Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora (14-0, 9 KOs) in the 12 round main event.

“The Big Brawl,” presented by Hennessy Sports, is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 3 PM/ET – 12 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, and Avail-TVN, for a suggested retail price of only $24.95. Preparing for fights the past six years, Theophane (29-4-1, 7 KOs) has successfully split training camps between his hometown, London, and adopted home, New York City. “As a kid,” he explained, “I watched (Mike) Tyson and (Marvin) Hagler and wanted to come to America to train and fight. For my 11^th fight I came to Gleason’s Gym (in NYC) to see if I was good enough. I held my own and gained confidence sparring Pauli Malignaggi, Chris Smith and Elio Rojas. I’ve keep coming back to New York City and also gained good experience working with (Yuri) Foreman and Dmitriy) Salita. I only sparred with Paulie once, but I watched him go on to big fights against (Ricky) Hatton and (Amir Khan). I would like to get to fight big names like that.

“I’d love to fight the winner of Khan-(Zab) Judah. For now, though, I want to make three quick defences of my title belt (champions need to successfully defend BBB of C titles three times) to keep my belt. Then, maybe, the European title and on to what I’ve always wanted, the world title.”

Theophane, rated No. 14 by the International Boxing Federation, captured the BBB of C light welterweight championship in his last fight, taking a unanimous 12-round decision against Lenny Daws (21-1-2) this past February in London. Ashley’s most significant victories to date have been versus Delvin Rodriguez (DEC10) and former world champion DeMarcus “Chop Chop” Corley (DEC8).

The majority of Theophane’s pro fights have been as a welterweight, despite the 5’ 7” Ashley being a natural light welterweight. “I’ve always been a light welterweight but couldn’t get good opportunities at 140 pounds,” Ashley commented. “My biggest fight opportunities came at 147 and I took them. I make 140 pounds fine with a little more preparation and watching what I eat. I still feel good and put on 10-12 pounds hydrating after the weigh in.  I feel strong at light welterweight. They (140 pounders) are a bit quicker but the majority are my size, averaging 5’ 8, not six footers.”

The 5’ 9” Cook (28-3-1, 14 KOs), a former International Boxing Organization and European lightweight champion, has lost only three times in 32 pro fights, the last in 2009 to former World Boxing Association champion Gavin Rees by three-round decision in the semi-finals of “Prizefighter” tournament.

Theophane has fought a few times on ESPN and welcomes the opportunity to showcase his talents July 23 to U.S. fans on PPV. “I want to show American fight fans that I’m a force to be reckoned with in the 140-pound division,” Ashley added. “I’m going into this fight to win and win impressively. They’re going to see a fighter who can box or go toe-to-toe if I have to. I have decent speed and a great jab like Hagler, who was one of my idols. He was a serious guy who broke-down boxers much like Miguel Cotto does now. Hagler has been an inspiration for me. He was No. 1 in the world but couldn’t get a world title shot. He finally did but got a draw and had to go to England to win it. He had to do things the hard way and so do I. He inspired me to work extra hard, take opportunities that come along, and make the most of it.”

ATLANTIC CITY (July 6, 2011)—On Saturday night, July 16^th Carla Hill Promotions will present a championship card of professional boxing to Resorts in Atlantic City that will be highlighted by a USBA Heavyweight title bout between Maurice Harris and Derrick Rossy.

Carla Hill Promotions is headed by Carla Hill, who is the wife of former Light Heavyweight and Cruiserweight champion, Virgil “Quicksilver” Hill.

“I am excited about this card and starting my first show off with a championship fight of importance”, said Carla Hill.

“Besides the title bout we have put together a terrific undercard that will feature many of the best fighters in the area.  This is the kind of show that will lay the groundwork for some great events that we have planned in the future”

Future Hall of Famer, Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield will be making an appearance ringside

Harris of East Orange, New Jersey has a record of 24-15-2 with ten win coming by way of knockout and is currently ranked number eight in the world by the IBF.

He turned pro in 1992 at the ripe age of sixteen years old.  He has been in the ring with many of the biggest names in boxing such as former world title challenger Vaughn Bean; former Cruiserweight title challenger Dale Brown; Future world champions Chris Byrd and Henry Akinwande

Harris got his notice in a loss when he battled Hall of Famer Larry Holmes to a split decision that many at ringside and around the world watching on Television believed Harris should have been awarded the victory

He lost a six round war with undefeated Derrick Jefferson (21-0-1) in a bout that has been tabbed as one of the best Heavyweight bouts that HBO has ever televised.

He has big wins over David Izon (18-0); Jeremy Williams (34-2) and future world champion Sergei Liakhovich (16-0).

He won the vacant USBA title with a twelve round unanimous decision over Nagy Aguilera on August 6^th, 2010.

Harris coming off a disappointing third round stoppage defeated to former world title challenger Tony Thompson on May 27^th.

Rossy of Medford, New York has an impressive mark of 25-4 with fifteen knockouts and is ranked number-fifteen by the IBF.

Rossy began his career by winning his first fourteen bouts before being stopped in seven rounds by former world title challenger and highly regarded Eddie Chambers.

Rossy then went on to win three straight bouts which was highlighted by a twelve round unanimous decision over former world champion and Olympic Gold Medal winner Ray Mercer in Macao, China.

After losing to undefeated Russian contender Alexander Dimentrenko, Rossy went on a seven fight win streak as he beat the likes of undefeated William Shahan and former world title challenger Carl Drummond in a bout that was televised live all over America on ESPN 2.

That bout catapulted Rossy into a rematch with Chambers.

Unfortunately after starting out fast, Rossy dropped a twelve round unanimous decision to Chambers in an IBF Elimination bout.

In his previous bout, Rossy traveled to Germany but was stopped in five rounds to heralded Kubrat Pulav on May 7^th.

Douglin to meet McCants Saturday in AC!

Morganville, NJ (July 6, 2011) – 2008 National Golden Gloves titlist and highly touted junior middleweight Denis “Da Mommas Boy” Douglin makes his return to the ring this Saturday evening at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ when he battles grizzled Philadelphian Phillip McCants.

With a 9-2-1 professional ledger and three wins by knockout, McCants is yet another fighter from the City of Brotherly Love that is tougher than nails. The 30 year old veteran has never been stopped and is known for having solid skills. In his most recent bout, McCants bested 12-2 Kaseem Wilson.

Douglin, 12-1 (8 KO’s), is fighting for the first time since a stunning defeat to Doel Carrasquillo and recognizes that he can’t take anything for granted. Refreshed, retooled and 100% focused on boxing, the Morganville, NJ based Brooklynite is excited to silence his critics with a strong showing.

“I feel great,” said Douglin. “I don’t care who I’m fighting I just want to go out and show people that my last fight was a fluke and that it won’t happen again.”

LAS VEGAS, NV – This Saturday, July 9, Grapplers Quest hosts the 20th West Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Open Championships at Sports Center (located at 121 East Sunset Road) in Las Vegas, Nevada. The mega-grappling event will be recorded for our nationally syndicated television show, “Best of Grapplers Quest” on FightNow TV. The event will feature 300 amateur and professional Submission Grappling, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Wrestling divisions featuring “America’s Best Lightweight” $1,000 4-Man Tournament with Jeff Glover (UFC Fan Expo Defending Superfight Champion), Alfredo Barum (Pan American Champion), Justin Rader (Lovato Jr. Black Belt and ADCC North American Trials Champion) will battle for America’s #1 Rated Lightweight Grappler under 160 lbs.

Another huge division at Grapplers Quest West will be the $1,000 Advanced Absolute division featuring 2010 World’s Best Grappler and Defending Absolute Champion, Joao Assis, 2-time UFC Fan Expo Superfight Champion, Bill Cooper, 2009 UFC Fan Expo Las Vegas Absolute Champion, Jeff Glover, and current ADCC Trials Champion and the East Coast’s #1 RATED Grappler and 7-time Grapplers Quest Absolute Champion, Rustam Chsiev.
