(For Immediate Release) – Montreal, April 11th, 2010 – In front of a lively crowd, Ringside MMA presented their most recent event, “Rage”, from the Maurice Richard Arena on Saturday, April 10th. Mitch Gagnon, a native of Sudbury, Ontario, was able to take home Ringside’s featherweight title (145 pounds) at the expense of Drummondville’s Gullaume Lamarche. His guillotine choke applied after 52 seconds of the 1st round to seal the victory also earned him submission of the night honours. Not to be outdone, the young phenom Guillaume de Lorenzi also won his first title, as he ground and pounded his way to his first lightweight championship belt. De Lorenzi’s 2 round war with the highly regarded Ryan Machan from Alberta, ending in a 2 round TKO victory for de Lorenzi earned them Fight of the Night honours. Rounding out the awards, Kevin Morin from Victoriville earned himself KO of the Night. Here are the full results from the “Rage” card:

Mosley Shows Tenacious Side on Nationally Televised George Lopez Show (TBS); Vows To Knock Mayweather Out on May 1

Los Angeles, CA (April 13)… Sugar Shane Mosley unleashed a less sweet side of his mild-mannered personality on TBS’ “Lopez Tonight” last night as he declared that he will knock out Floyd Mayweather when they meet in the ring May 1 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas and live on HBO Pay-Per-View®.

JOEY GILBERT RETURNS TO RENO MAY 22 – RXF IV

Reno — The Grand Sierra Resort/Casino and Let’s Get It On Promotions are pleased to announce “Reno Xtreme Fights IV”, May 22nd. Reno’s own Joey Gilbert (18-2, 14 KOs) will make his return to the ring against veteran Anthony Bartinelli (20-13, 13 KOs) in an eight round middleweight bout. Tickets are on sale now.

Gilbert is coming off of an impressive fifth round KO victory against Ivan Stovall in August. The Bartinelli fight will be Gilbert’s first fight back in his hometown since his twelve round unanimous decision loss to local rival, Jesse Brinkley.

“I just want to get in the ring again.” Said Gilbert, “I felt great in my last fight, and I would like to have a shot at a big name at middleweight.”

Bartinelli is a tough veteran from Phoenix, AZ who is known for taking fights with the best middleweights in the world. He recently went the distance with middleweight world title challenger, Elvin Ayala, and contender Albert Onolunose. Although he has traveled the world and facing off with the best fighters around, Bartinelli looks at this fight as being his chance to make a name for himself in boxing.

“I’ve wanted this fight with Joey Gilbert for a couple of years now.” Says Bartinelli. “This could be my big break.”

Both fighters are known for being brawlers with power and good chins.

“This fight has the makings of a war.” Says Let’s Get It On Promotions’ Tommy Lane. “Both stand toe to toe and are not afraid to get hit while trying to knock the other out.”

This will be the fourth installment of “Reno Xtreme Fights” – the successful professional boxing/mma series. Mixed martial Arts fighters currently slated are Reno’s own Rick “The Holy Terror” Reeves (9-2) and Kristin Molina (1-1).

PHILADELPHIA (April 13, 2010)— This Friday night at The New Daisy Theater in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the best Lightweight prospects in the world will be on display for the whole nation to see as “Hammerin” Hank Lundy will battle Tyrese Hendrix (18-0-1, 7 KO’s of Gainesville, Georgia) in a bout that will feature two undefeated Lightweights.

The bout will be seen all over America on ESPN 2 at 10pm eastern/7pm Pacific.

Lundy of Philadelphia has a record of 17-0-1 with ten knockouts has been on a roll and relishes the opportunity to knock off yet another undefeated fighter.

He has already defeated two undefeated fighters (Esteban Almarez and a drubbing stoppage of then 10-0 Jason Cintron) and had a disputed draw with then 8-0 Darnell Jiles in Jiles hometown, which is the only blemish on the Lundy’s impressive ledger.

“I can’t wait for this fight on Friday night”, said Lundy.

“I have had a great camp at Joe Hand Boxing Gym with world class sparring. I am going to tune Tyrese up like a Jimmy Hendrix guitar. I see the championship in my near future. This bout is for the NABO title so a win gets me ranked by the WBO. I know the two champions Juan Manuel Marquez and Michael Katsidis better be watching because I am gunning for them after I take care of Tyrese.”

Lundy is very excited about the prospect of fighting in Memphis.

“Memphis is a great town and the fans on Beale Street will get the opportunity to watch the best thing to hit this area since Elvis. That ring on Friday night will be my Graceland and I will decide when it’s time for Hendrix to leave.”

Lundy is managed by Ivan Cohen, who two decades ago was the manager of IBF Jr. Middleweight champion Buster Drayton.

“Lundy has so much natural talent and he works extremely hard in the gym. He takes nothing for granted and that’s why we believe that Hendrix will be on “sleeping on That Midnight Train to Georgia” after Hank takes care of him.” said Cohen.

Lundy is trained by long time Philadelphia trainer Sloan Harrison and strength and conditioning coach Brian Cohen.

Lundy just added one of the best up and coming trainers, Danny Davis who is known for his extraordinaire pad work which improved Lundy’s already lightning hand speed.

PRIZEFIGHTER RETURNS WITH HERBIE HIDE AMONG THE CONTENDERS

PRIZEFIGHTER returns later this month with former WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide among the contenders in the second cruiserweights competition.

Prizefighter Cruiserweights II takes place on Friday, April 30 at the York Hall in Bethnal Green, east London.

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Sport’s Managing Director, was expecting another great night of boxing entertainment. He said: “Boxing in the UK is buzzing right now and we are delighted to announce the next instalment of the Prizefighter Series with the Cruiserweights on April 30th.

“Seven of the leading UK contenders will be trying to capture the crown but to do so they will have to take out the number one WBC contender and favourite to win Prizefighter Herbie Hide.”

Hide, who at 38 is the oldest of the eight men taking part, will be the bookmakers’ favourite but that has not been a guarantee for success in previous Prizefighters.

Once again £32,000 will go to the winner of the one-night tournament that has thrilled and excited boxing fans both in the packed arenas and watching live on Sky Sports.

Other contenders include former Commonwealth champion Darren Corbett, Mark Krence, who has fought for the British heavyweight title, and hard-hitting veteran John Anthony.

As always, there will be a number of highly-rated prospects looking to have a career-changing night by winning Prizefighter.

Jon-Lewis Dickinson is undefeated from his five fights, while Wayne Brooks, Zahid Kahut and Leon Williams are hoping to catapult themselves into the boxing big-time on Friday, April 29.

This will be the 11th Prizefighter event and previous winners have gone on to fight for British, Commonwealth and European titles.

Audley Harrison won Prizefighter Heavyweights III in October and claimed the European championship last Friday.

Benitez -VS- Barthelemy is under Protest

2004 U.S.A. Olympian Roberto Benitez has filed a protest with Michael Mazzulli Director of The Mohegan Boxing Commission.

It was on April 2nd. 2010 that Benitez was in a exciting and competitive fight with the 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist from Cuba, Yan Barthelemy

Roberto Benitez and Team Benitez at this time would also like to apologize to Benitez fans for not having appeared on the ESPN2 Friday Night Fights.

It was a disappointment for Team Benitez not to have had Benitez box on air as was scheduled and for so many of Roberto’s fans who tuned in from all over the country to see him risk his undefeated record against the Olympic Champion. A reason has still not been given for the fight not making it on the air.

Benitez who was in control of the contest from the beginning, having hurt Barthelemy early, both in the first and second rounds never let off the pressure till the Doctor called a halt to the bout in the 4th round for reasons never expressed. There was a cut that required 3 stitches on Roberto’s left eye brow that had almost no bleeding to speak of.

The fight is at this time listed as T.K.O. 4

This loss is not justified.

It must be noted that Benitez was in no danger at any time in the fight. Also the Doctor who stitched the cut said in her report that the cut was superficial. Roberto had no problem with his eye sight as his vision was never obstructed.

We are fortunate that the fight was promoted by Star Boxing who’s C.E.O. is Joe DeGuardia who also is President of The Boxing Promoters Association which has a committee that is now investigating bad judgment calls on behalf of Boxing Officials.

Team Benitez is now awaiting the decision, due to come from the Commission soon. When we receive news we will make an announcement.

Mixed Martial Arts Event to Benefit GrapplingAutism.org & AutismRadio.org

ORLANDO – On Friday, April 16th and Saturday, all day, April 17th, Grapplers Quest, “The World’s Largest Grappling Competition” is hosting the 1st Europa Show of Champions Southeast Submission Wrestling, Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships at The Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

Grappling is the ground fighting art of Mixed Martial Arts and combines the throws of Olympic Judo, the takedowns of Wrestling, Leg Locks from Sambo, and other Submissions from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu like arm bars, shoulder locks and chokes. Competitors of all ages and skill levels participate in the event and it is open to all grappling styles to determine the best grapplers in the World. Grapplers Quest has produced events for The Ultimate Fighting Championship, Mr, Olympia and Europa Supershows from Las Vegas to Europe.
