Bowman will replace Rick Reeves as part of MMA and Boxing Series

Reno, Nev. – Reno native Ashe Bowman steps up to replace Rick Reeves in feature MMA bout as part of Reno Xtreme Fights on Friday, Dec. 11 in the Grand Theatre of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino. Bowman will face Andrews in the feature MMA bout as part of the boxing and MMA event.

Presented by Grand Sierra Resort and Casino and Let’s Get It On Promotions, Reno Xtreme Fights welcomes Bowman, an experienced fighter (9-6) most recently fighting for Strikeforce. Bowman is coming off of an unanimous decision win against Isaac Dejesus on Feb. 13 in Fresno, Calif.

San Francisco, December 7, 2009 – Highly decorated amateur standout, Richard Hargraves (welterweight), makes his pro debut against John Dunham this Friday December 11, 2009 on the undercard of the Oleg Maskaev vs Nagy Aguilera showdown, taking place at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, CA.

Hailing from San Francisco, CA, Hargraves trains out of the SFC boxing gym under the guidance of Ben Bautista. With an amateur record 50-7, Hargraves was a 3-time local and state Golden Gloves champion and P.A.L (165 lbs) 2006 Bronze medalist. In addition, Richard was a 2009 Team USA member and (152 lbs) 2009 USA national champion with a # 3 ranking.

“I’ve been dreaming of this day for some time now,” said Hargraves. “I’m looking to work my way up the welterweight division and make a name for myself. NEW YORK (Dec. 7, 2009)–Four-time mixed martial arts (MMA) world champion and two-time United States Olympic wrestler Dan Henderson will enter a new chapter in his legendary career after signing a multi-fight agreement with world championship MMA promotion STRIKEFORCE.

Henderson, the only fighter in history to simultaneously hold two titles in two different weight classes – the welterweight (183 pounds) and light heavyweight (205 pounds) crowns – with a major MMA promotion – PRIDE Fighting Championships – will enter the STRIKEFORCE cage after earning “Knockout of the Night” honors with his stunning second-round KO (3:20) over Michael “The Count” Bisping at UFC 100 in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 11, 2009.

“I’m very happy to be a part of STRIKEFORCE and their partnership with CBS and SHOWTIME®,” said the 39-year-old Henderson, who represented The United States in Greco-Roman wrestling in both the 1992 and 1996 Summer Olympics.

At both Cal State Fullerton and Arizona State University, Henderson established himself as a force in collegiate wrestling, reaching the NCAA championships in 1993.

In 1997, Henderson entered the world of MMA, winning the Brazil Open, a four-man heavyweight tournament. One year later, he was the victor of the UFC 17 tournament, defeating both Allan Goes and Carlos Newton in the same night on May 15, 1998.

Following a stellar six plus year career with the now-defunct, Japan-based PRIDE Fighting Championships where he conquered a number of all-time greats including Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva, and Vitor Belfort, Henderson re-entered UFC. He was selected to serve as coach of Team USA on the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, which premiered on Spike TV on April 1, 2009.

STRIKEFORCE in March 2009 signed a multi-year agreement to stage live MMA events on premium cable television network SHOWTIME. The promotion made its live, primetime debut on CBS with the “Fedor vs. Rogers” mega-fight that it co-promoted with M-1 Global on

Saturday, November 7 and generated 5.46 million viewers for the main event between the world’s number one heavyweight, Fedor Emelianenko, and superstar Brett “The Grim” Rogers.

PHILADELPHIA (December 5, 2009)—In front of a near capacity house, Steve Upsher Chambers scored a very decisive unanimous decision over Doel Carrasquillo to cap off the 7th Annual Children’s Holiday at The Legendary Blue Horizon

Chambers, of Philadelphia mixed up his shots well as he featured hooks and crosses and jabbed very well but his punch of choice was the uppercut for which he used with precision and often during the fight.

Carrasquillo pressed forward throughout the fight and even got through a few thunderous power punches that Chambers was able to shake off and get the victory by scores of 80-72, 80-72 and 78-74 to raise his record to 21-1-1.

Carrasquillo falls under the .500 mark and is now 12-13-1.

The co-feature was a controversial draw as Loren Myers looked to have snapped the long winning streak of Gee Cullmer in an eight round Middleweight bout but two judges felt differently and the bout ended in a majority draw.

Myers pressed the action as Cullmer was very tired by the third round and was trapped against the ropes for much of the fight. Cullmer fought back and tried to make a fight of that and that may have won him a few rounds but it looked like the visitor pulled off the upset.

When the scores were read, Myers won one card by a 79-73 tally but it was over ruled by two cards that were at 76-76.

Former NHL tough guy, Nathan Perrott suffered three first round knockdowns and was stopped by debuting John Bolden at 2:09 of that opening frame.

Two Philadelphians, Charles Hayward (4 years) and Tim Johnson (2 years) came back from layoffs to score decision victories over Patrick Budd and Jonathan Felton respectively.

Jr. Middleweight, Darrell Jones (3-0) remained undefeated with a unanimous decision over Antonio Fernandez in a four round bout.

World Renowned MMA/UFC Fighters Josh Neer and Hermes Franca Will Co-Headline MaxFightsDM Ballroom Brawl IV Event at the Val Air Ballroom in January

Des Moines, IA- December 5, 2009- MaxFightsDMhas announced an event featuring two of the most recognized figures in MMA today. Ballroom Brawl IV will be held at the Val Air Ballroom on Friday, January 8 and features ten MMA bouts, including co-headline events that feature Josh Neer and Hermes Franca.

Josh Neer is clearly the most successful and popular fighter that has come out of Des Moines. The ten time UFC vets career started at the legendary Toad Holler in 2001 where he built an 89-1 amateur record before going pro, then on to defeat the likes of Joe Stevenson and Mac Danzig in the UFC. Neer will face Omaha’s heavy-handed Matt Delanoit on the 8th. Neer requested an opponent that is willing to stand and trade with him, and Delanoit’s experience and record provide the perfect match.

MaxFightsDM Ballroom Brawl IV features ten bouts including known fighters Cory Simpson, Emily Klinefelter, Ben Crowder, and Abel Trujillo. MaxFightsDM will announce more Ballroom Brawl IV match-ups in the near future.

In the evening’s other co-main event, Brazilian native Hermes Franca vs. Iowa’s own Eric Wisely for the MaxFightsDM interim lightweight belt. Franca’s UFC experience includes wins over the likes of Spencer Fisher, Jamie Varner, and Nate Diaz, and ultimately earning a shot at the world title against Sean Sherk. Franca is a Black Belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu as well as the 2009 World No Gi Jiu Jitsu Grappling champion. Wisely is coming off a recent win over WEC vet Scott McAfee, and all of Wisely’s losses have been by decision.

MELISSA “HURRACAN” HERNANDEZ EXPLAINS REASONS FOR PULLING OUT OF HOLM BATTLE

ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO (DECEMBER 5TH, 2009)—Friday night at the Isleta Hotel and Casino, one of the most anticipated woman’s bouts in recent memory was scheduled to take place as Holly Holm was set to take on Melissa “Hurracan” Hernandez in what was regarded as a battle to see who was the best pound for pound woman in the world.

The bout did not happen, but it was not because Hernandez did not want to fight. In fact it was Team Holm that seemingly did not want the fight.

The controversy started early in the evening when it was found out that Holm had already wrapped her hands without the presence of any member of Hernandez team.

“I was hanging out watching the first couple of fights and after the second bout we went in there and her hands were already wrapped”, said Hernandez.

“The commission would not do anything about this. We gave them forty-five minutes and at 9pm they still said no. They had so many excuses that ranged from them running out of tape and gauze plus there wasn’t time. My team offered all that to them. Tape, Gauze plus I would have waited all night for her. If they wanted her to win so badly, they should have done this on the level”

The story gets even more bizarre as Holm’s team finally gave in AFTER Hernandez returned to her Hotel.

“At that time why would I fight? Is that what it took for them to realize we were serious about not fighting? It’s in the rules for the two sides to watch each other wrap their hands.”

“They came to my manager and offered him money to get me in the ring but I wasn’t going to be part of that. A fighter just died in Philadelphia where my manager is from. There was the Cotto-Margarito situation and my health is a lot more important than some dollar amount”

I am not slandering anybody, but the press was all about her. We discussed two out of state judges and referee and that didn’t happen plus we had agreed on Everlast, Winning or Reyes gloves and they presented me with TKO gloves. They finally caved into that for something they already agreed upon. And oh by the way, I was moving up THREE weight classes and she didn’t make weight but we swept that under the rug.”

“I think the most ironic thing is that they were able to find an opponent in ten minutes. Pretty ironic that they had somebody on standby when most fighters won’t fight on less than a day notice if that”

“The replacement went ten rounds with her, so the fans know what I would have done to her. I am not downing Holly but let’s do this on fair terms and the world will find out who the baddest girl in the sport is”
