LAS VEGAS (Nov. 4, 2009) – FightEngine.com is searching for one male fighter and one female fighter for featured kickboxing events to air live Dec. 26 on FOX in Istanbul.

Female fighter Seyda Daygun (120 lbs, 54.9 kg) is a 3-time WKN European Champion, while male fighter Adem Bozkurt (155 lbs, 69.9 kg) is a 3-time WKN World Champion. Both are looking for legitimate opponents to challenge them on the upcoming Dec. 26 show in Istanbul.

Valuev: “Haye’s comments have been very motivating”

NUREMBERG, Germany (Nov. 4, 2009) – WBA Heavyweight Champion Nikolai Valuev has promised “something special” for David Haye when they clash in the ring on Saturday night. “The Russian Giant” cannot wait to let his fists do the talking after the challenger has wasted no chance to hurl insults at the biggest and tallest champion of all time. “His comments have been very motivating,” Valuev said. “But let´s see what Haye has to offer inside the ring. I don´t think he will be able to follow it up. But I will not under-estimate him.”

Haye was brimming with confidence when he spoke in front of a packed press conference today. “He hasn’t fought anyone of my caliber; he’s never fought anyone in their prime or someone so fired up,” the challenger said. “I’m not one of these guys he’s used to fighting. I’m not over-the-hill, I’m not tainted, I’m not past my sell-by-date. I am fresh, I am ready.”

And he added: “Training has gone great and I am going to make him look silly on Saturday night. I am going to embarrass him, knock him out. He’s never fought anyone as fast or who punches as hard as me, or as accurate. I know he feels I’m a little mouthy man from England, but he’s gonna be in for a rude awakening when that bell goes.”

Asked what he makes of Haye´s prediction to knock him out, Valuev replied: “He can say what he wants. I have heard that from many opponents before. It is not going to happen. I will win.” Manager Wilfried Sauerland was also surprised about the challenger´s confidence. “I don´t know where he takes it from,” he said. “He is untested at heavyweight and got knocked down a lot of times in his career. Now he is facing a proven champion with 50 victories, so I really wonder why he is so optimistic.”

The quick, hard-punching Haye will not be deterred by spotting the 7-foot, 325-odd pound Valuev (50-1, 34 KOs), from St. Petersburg, Russia, about 100 pounds and 9-inches. “I don’t care what I weigh,” David answered a question about his expected weight on fight night. “I haven’t looked at the scales all through training camp. So long as I’m fit and sharp at the weight, I’m not bothered what the scales say. As far as bring my power up, I have no doubt I’ll hit hard enough to knock out top heavyweights. I’ve never been in the ring with an opponent – amateur, sparring, or as a pro – who hasn’t respected my punching power. I’ve floor top heavyweights, in the gym and in the ring, and none of them can ever believe how hard I punch for a smaller guy.

“It’s never much fun getting hit by a man weighing 23 stone, so I’m not underestimating the power he generates. He must hit fairly hard. Technically, he does most things right. He’s a well-schooled fighter that has improved over the years. Saying that, though, his last five fights have gone the distance, and I certainly don’t think he’s the fearsome and terrifying puncher he perhaps should be for a man of that size.”

Two-time WBA heavyweight champion John “The Quietman” Ruiz (43-8-1, 29 KOs), the current WBA No. 1 rated and “official challenger,” takes on ex-IBU champion Adnan “Aachen Assassin” Serin (19-10-1, 7 KOs) in the opening live PPV bout on the Valuev-Haye. Boxing legends confirm attendance; New voting categories announced; Pryor and Fenech to captain US and World teams

LAS VEGAS — The climax of the World’s Greatest Ever Boxer campaign will take place December 11-13 at the Paris, Las Vegas Casino Resort. The winners of the global vote for the World’s Greatest Ever Boxers will be announced Sunday, Dec. 13 at an Awards Night. A fight night themed, USA vs. The World, promoted by Seminole Warriors Boxing, will take place Saturday, Dec. 12.

“The December date at the Paris Las Vegas gives us the opportunity to work through our full editorial program,” said Chris Heverin, President of Greatest Ever Enterprises. “The debate on the Greatest Ever Boxers has been fierce to date and we are about to widen that debate with the inclusion of three new award categories. We currently have a 10-part TV series in production that will air in TV markets worldwide and, again, the December date will allow fans more time to engage with this project.

NOMINEES CONFIRM THEIR ATTENDANCE

Of the 84 legends nominated for the global vote, 40 of those fighters are still alive. All have been invited to the December 11-13 weekend and already 12 have confirmed their attendance. They include Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson, Aaron Pryor, Joe Calzaghe, Thomas Hearns, Roberto Duran, Larry Holmes, Jeff Fenech, Emile Griffith, Bob Foster, Michael Carbajal, and Bob Foster.

Other great world champions in attendance will include Leon Spinks with his son and current junior middleweight world champion, Cory Spinks. It is hoped that brother Michael Spinks will be able to attend as well. Oliver McCall will be in the corner for his son, Elijah, who will be fighting for the US team.

More confirmations will be announced in the coming weeks as schedules are finalized.

PRYOR AND FENECH TO CAPTAIN TEAMS

Greatest Ever nominees Aaron Pryor and Jeff Fenech are to captain the US and The World teams, respectively, on Dec. 12 in the Grand Ballroom of the Paris Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.

Pryor, a former US Olympian and Junior Welterweight World Champion, will have his son, Aaron Jr., on the team. Speaking of his nomination, Pryor said, “I am excited. This is something that boxing needs and engages fans worldwide in the history of our sport. This is a dream come true, it is like being in the Hall of Fame. I am also excited Aaron Jr. is going to be fighting. I am concerned like any father would be, but he is a good fighter and is in good hands. This will be a very special weekend for us.”

Australian Jeff Fenech, himself a former Olympian and three-time world champion at three different weights, said, “These matches will be very competitive. The boys are fighting not just for their own records, but for their team, and this will matter. Not only that, they will be showcasing themselves in front of some of the greatest fighters of all time. What more motivation do they need to put on a show? I think the Americans are going to get a big surprise. This is a celebration of world boxing, not American fighters.”

A bout featuring International Boxing Federation’s No. 6 junior middleweight Sechew Powell will headline the Dec.12 fight night. Powell is hoping to be matched in an eliminator for a shot at the world title.

The seven-fight card will showcase three US fighters who are sons of former world champions (Elijah McCall, Aaron Pryor Jr., and Ronald Hearns) and two of the fathers (Aaron Pryor and Thomas Hearns) are nominees in the World’s Greatest Ever Boxer.

Molitor rebounded from his devastating loss last November to unified 122 lb. world champion Celestino Caballero with a hard-fought split decision win this past June over Heriberto Ruiz to capture the IBF’s number two ranking, guaranteeing himself a spot in an IBF world title eliminator.

Molitor followed up the win over Ruiz with a convincing 5th round KO over Dario Azuaga at Rumble at Rama IX, and is looking for another impressive outing to further serve notice that he’s ready to reclaim his world crown.

So long as I’m fit and sharp at the weight, I’m not bothered what the scales say. As far as bring my power up, I have no doubt I’ll hit hard enough to knock out top heavyweights. I’ve never been in the ring with an opponent – amateur, sparring, or as a pro – who hasn’t respected my punching power. I’ve floor top heavyweights, in the gym and in the ring, and none of them can ever believe how hard I punch for a smaller guy.

“It’s never much fun getting hit by a man weighing 23 stone, so I’m not underestimating the power he generates. He must hit fairly hard. Technically, he does most things right. He’s a well-schooled fighter that has improved over the years. Saying that, though, his last five fights have gone the distance, and I certainly don’t think he’s the fearsome and terrifying puncher he perhaps should be for a man of that size.”

Fighters To Begin Campaigning In Chicago This Week

NEW YORK (November 3, 2009)–-Jason “Mayhem” Miller has already shown the world that he’s no fan of bullies. Now, the host of MTV’s smash-hit reality series “Bully Beatdown” has been joined by fellow STRIKEFORCE mixed martial arts (MMA) stars Scott “Hands of Steel” Smith and Daniel Cormier in a national campaign led by apparel company and cause organization Kickin’ It, Inc. to curb a perennial problem amongst adolescents and teenagers.

Founded by Kickin’ It Apparel Co. President GinaMarie Raimondo in May 2009, the “Bullying…We’re Kickin’ It” campaign aims to stop bullying amongst youth and the resulting psychological and emotional wounds often left on victims. Raimondo’s outfit aggressively engages students, their guardians, and school faculty in useful dialogue and activities, including workshops led by the organization’s spokespeople in order to encourage positive behavior.

Smith and Cormier will pay visits to several Chicago schools and youth centers this week while Miller readies for his highly-anticipated, live network television debut on CBS this Saturday, November 7 when he will face off with fellow superstar Jake Shields during the STRIKEFORCE and M-1 Global co-promoted “Fedor vs. Rogers” event at Chicago’s Sears Centre Arena.

“I’m enthused to be a part of something like this that’s bigger than just fighting and bigger than just a TV show,” said the 28-year-old Miller, who has already recorded a number of public service announcements on behalf of Kickin It’s campaign. The messages are being broadcast nationally courtesy of Premiere Radio, a subsidiary of Clear Channel Worldwide. “I want to bring about positive change amongst the youth in this country and this is a way to do that.”

Cormier, a two-time member of The United States Olympic wrestling team who placed fourth in the 2004 Games held in Athens, Greece, was inspired to join the group as a result of his personal experiences.

“I was bullied as a kid so I know what it’s like to be belittled and humiliated in front of my peers,” said the 30-year-old Cormier. “I want to make a difference in the lives of kids who are facing the same things I did when I was their age.”

Smith’s status as a father of two boys, ages 12 and 6, has heightened his sensitivity to the problem. “It hasn’t happened to either of my kids yet, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen in the future. It’s something that concerns me and I want to do whatever I can to influence kids in a positive way.”

“Bullying is a very serious problem in every school across America that has long lasting, detrimental effects on your youth,” said Raimondo. “This problem requires an integrated approach involving the entire community to unite against this kind of behavior. Kickin It’s campaign offers that and hopes others will follow the example of the STRIKEFORCE athletes who should be admired for their passion and determination to address this issue.”
