Los Angeles (September 7) – The lazy, hazy days of summer are coming to a close, but Los Angeles is staying hot as “200: CELEBRATE AND DOMINATE” Mosley vs. Mora quickly approaches. With about two weeks to go before the September 18 fight takes place at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Calif., numerous events are scheduled including a fight week unlike any other seen before. The event will be produced and distributed live on HBO Pay-Per-View®, beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.

Below please find a calendar of events leading up to the Mexican Independence Bicentennial Celebratory event that has boxing fans across the country talking. Will former World Champion Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora be the first fighter of Mexican or Mexican-American descent to defeat Five-Time World Champion Sugar Shane Mosley? Will boxing veteran Carlos “Tata” Baldomir be too much for the young undefeated Mexican boxing sensation Saul “Canelo” Alvarez? Will “Vicious” Victor Ortiz return to STAPLES Center and take down the experienced former World Champion “Vicious” Vivian Harris? Who will emerge victorious and earn a shot at the World Featherweight Championship when former World Champion Daniel Ponce De Leon collides with WBO number two world ranked featherweight Antonio Escalante?

All of these questions will be answered on September 18, but before the action in the ring gets underway the numerous pre-fight events leading up to “200: CELEBRATE AND DOMINATE,” will have fans and media proclaiming “Viva Mexico!” well in advance of the first bell on fight night.

Mike Clayton’s Ducks of Stevens get Ready for the Year, Talks to TDR TV

Mike Clayton enters his 4th season leading the Stevens Institute of Technology wrestling team after being named head coach in August of 2007. A former top assistant at the United States Military Academy and four-year letter winner and NCAA Division I Qualifier at the United States Naval Academy during the 1990’s, Clayton has led the Stevens wrestling program back to prominence in his first two seasons. He was was named the 2008 NWCA Division III Rookie Coach of the Year and the 2009 Centennial Conference Coach of the Year. Clayton has accumulated an overall mark of 20-12 (12-2 in Centennial Conference) in two seasons as the head coach of the Ducks.

In 2008-09, the Ducks went 6-1 in conference for the second-straight season after not winning a Centennial match for three full seasons prior. Furthermore, Clayton led his team back from a tough, 1-5 start, to go 11-3 in the second-half of the season without as many as five starters at times. Clayton helped four different wrestlers reach the 20-win plateau and two Ducks went undefeated in the conference. Clayton guided Stevens to its most-ever wins in program history, 12, besting the previous mark of 11 set back in the 1979-80 season when Stevens was coached by Bob Schwalbenberg. Freshman Ryan Dormann was also a conference champion at 174-lbs. and advanced to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships.

The Ducks finished 2007-08 with an overall mark of 8-4 and finished the regular season second in the Centennial Conference (6-1 conference). It was their best record since wrestling returned to Hoboken in 2004-05. Clayton guided Senior Brandon MacWhinnie ’08, who was named the Centennial Conference Wrestler of the Year for the second time, to a third place finish at the NCAA’s becoming Stevens’ first wrestler to earn All-American wrestling status. In addition, Stevens also earned a top 20 National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-America Team ranking (19 in the country).

During his three years at Army, Clayton helped produce eight NCAA Championship qualifiers. In his first year with the team, he helped guide Phillip Simpson to his third consecutive All-America certificate and an appearance in the national finals. In 2004-05 and 2005-06, Clayton was instrumental as the Black Knights returned to the national polls. While at West Point, Clayton also helped the program develop its’ first nationally ranked recruiting class (ranked No. 22 nationally in the Wrestling USA Magazine poll).

Prior to arriving at Army, Clayton spent five years as the head coach at Newport News Apprentice School in Virginia. During his time there, Clayton mentored 30 National Collegiate Wrestling Association All-Americans and eight national champions. He also increased the team size from eight wrestlers upon his arrival in 1999 to 30 in 2003 by developing a national recruiting base. Clayton’s 2003-04 roster featured athletes from 14 different states. In addition, the team’s fortunes turned around immensely on the mat. After posting a 0-10 record his first two seasons at the helm, Clayton guided Apprentice School to a 26-11 mark over his final three years.

During those final three years at Apprentice, Clayton delivered a college curriculum in Business Operations/Leadership, Ship Construction and Microsoft Office. He also developed a partnership with the U.S. Naval Academy’s leadership department as part of his Business Operations course.

Ultrachem TKO’s ‘Super Six’ In Action September 11th At York Hall.

Johnny Eames and Derek Grainger’s famous London ‘Fight Factory’, the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym, is set to start the new boxing season with a bang, having no less than six of their boxers in action this coming Saturday at Steve Goodwin’s ‘It’s Personal’ title double header event, at The York Hall, Bethnal Green in East London.

Heading up the list of fighters, on the ‘It’s Personal’ show, that are trained at Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym, are co-headliners Mark ‘The Flash’ Alexander and ‘Phat’ Pat McAleese, who are both challenging for championship honours – Alexander for the vacant International Masters Lightweight and McAleese for the vacant British Masters Light Middleweight titles.

Alexander, who is trained at the Canning Town gym by Barry Smith, will be facing a stern test as he locks horns with former English Super Featherweight Champion Ryan Barrett, who in the past has battled it out with World Champions Amir Khan and Willie Limond.

Alexander, who has also been in action with top class opposition such as IBO & WBF Featherweight World Champion Michael Brodie, British & Commonwealth Featherweight Champion John Simpson and British Featherweight Champion Dazzo Williams, rocketed stole the headlines, back in April, with his clinical destruction of, the man being touted as the ‘New Ricky Hatton’, Michael ‘Simply’ Devine, which was Alexander’s first fight since switching his training base to Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym and taking Smith on board as coach.

Ever since the fight was announced there has been a series of vitriolic comments, from both protagonists, in the press. Even the event title ‘It’s Personal’ is directly related to the intent dislike Alexander and Barrett have for each other. Alexander’s seem to come from Barrett avoiding a proposed fight back in June, whilst Barrett’s clearly stems from the very public calling out, by Alexander, on Steve Bunce’s BBC radio show.

Co-headline features gym mate ‘Phat’ Pat McAleese, who claims the event title ‘It’s Personal’ also directly relates to his fight with old foe Lee Noble.

The only blemish on McAleese’s otherwise perfect record came when the pair faced each other, on the Ricky Hatton promoted show at Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, back on the 26th March.

McAleese, who by his own admission was not at his best that night having fought just thirteen days previous, was sent reeling when the referee Richie Davies scored the contest a 58-58 points draw.

Following the surprise result McAleese said, “A lot of people in the crowd gave me five out of the six rounds, and I thought I won four out of the six, and drew the last, if not winning it.” then adding, “I’ll hopefully get a rematch and set the record straight.”

McAleese has got his wish, and a title shot to boot, and has full intention to set the record straight. So much so that last week, in order to ensure the were no disturbances to his fight preparations, McAleese left his Newmarket home and moved to London for a two week training camp with co-trainers Johnny Eames and Derek Grainger.

Whilst in camp McAleese has been getting top class sparring with Eddie Corcoran, Nathan Weise and the highly exciting Light Middleweight prospect Erick ‘The Eagle’ Ochieng.

Ochieng, who is managed and trained by Brian Lawrence at the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym, is also in action at York Hall on the 11th September and will be facing the highly experienced Latvian Alex “Pit Bull” Spitko. In sparring Ochieng has been looking seriously sharp and is rightly confident, of adding Spitko’s scalp to his growing collection, following his victory excellent victory over Curtis Valentine in ‘The Battle of the Undefeated’ back in May.

Another rising star, from the Ultrachem TKO stable, who will be participating on the ‘It’s Personal’ show is Belvedere’s exceptional Featherweight talent ‘Saint’ George Jupp.

Back in May this year, at the ‘Oakey’s Last Stand’ event at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth,19 year old Jupp put on a superb boxing display to secure victory, over the very tough Peter Barney, by a 40-37 points margin.

On the 11th September ‘Saint’ George will be facing another tough challenge as his opponent is the Latvian hardman Pavels Senkovs.

Disappointingly, the eagerly awaited debut of Ultrachem TKO’s highly talented female fighter Marianne ‘Golden Girl’ Marston has had to be rescheduled to later this year.

Marston, who was discovered by the legendary Heavyweight Champion of the World Smokin’ Joe Frazier, had been due to face the experienced Welsh battler Lana Cooper. It is expected that Marston vs Cooper will now be supporting Yassine El Maachi’s WBC title challenge on the Goodwin Promotions December 4th show at York Hall.

On receiving the news of the fight being off Marston’s ever sharp manager, Johnny Eames, swiftly negotiated for another his fighters, Redhill, Surrey’s ‘Dynamo’ Daryl Setterfield, to replace her on the show.

Back in March Setterfield caused a sensation when he knocked out Light Welterweight prospect Darren Hamilton. Setterfield was undoubtedly the underdog as Hamilton had rightly been touted as a future star of the division.

The climax to the exciting battle was nothing short of spectacular. Setterfield let rip with the most vicious overhand right to the head, which literally stopped the previously unbeaten Hamilton in his tracks, followed up with a lightning fast combination that sent Hamilton crashing so hard to the canvas that the paramedics were immediately called for.

On September 11th Setterfield will be up against Nottingham’s highly experienced Matt Scriven.

Johnny Eames and the Ultrachem TKO Boxing Gym team have a proud history of training Championship winning fighters, one of their many stars was WBU Light Heavyweight Champion Tony ‘Oakey Kokey’ Oakey, who retired back in May.

Whilst not returning to the ring, Tony Oakey will be at York Hall on September 11th in the role of mentor to Portsmouth’s Joel ‘El Toro’ McIntyre, who will be debuting against the experienced Jamie Ambler from Aberystwyth.

‘It’s Personal’, at York Hall on September 11th, also features Light Middleweight prospect, Michael Norgrove, also looks to extend his perfect record. Norgrove, whose record ot 2-0, has his hardest test to date when he faces Finchley’s Ian Eldridge.

Unbeaten prospect Tony “The Conqueror” Conquest is set to face one of the most experienced Cruserweight’s around, Hastings Rasani, who has fought the best the division has offered over the years, David ‘Hayemaker’ Haye, Troy Ross, Bruce ‘Lionheart’ Scott, Terry Dunston, Mark Krence, Tony Bellew, Dean Francis… and the list just goes on. This is no easy fight for Conquest, who will need to be right on his game.

Super Middleweight Eder Kurti will be looking to maintain his six fight winning streak against Sabie Monteith.

Bethnal Green’s highly popular Light Welterweight Jamie Arlain is set to explode on the professional scene. Arlain will be facing Bulgarian Danny Dontchev.

Exciting Welterweight prospect Phil Gill aka “The Phil Gill Experience” looks to continue his unbeaten record against the experienced Sid Razak.

King of the Cage to Make East Coast Debut at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut on September 17

Cullum will now face Jimmie Rivera (6-1), a Team Tiger Schulmann fighter and Bellator Fighting Championships veteran. He is currently riding a five fight win streak and has not lost a bout since 2008. Rivera is determined to dethrone Cullum and claim the KOTC Bantamweight Title. Retribution weigh-in will be wild

MFC scene hits City Centre Mall hosted by Schiavello & Trigg

The official weigh-in for MFC 26: Retribution has quickly become the biggest pre-fight spectacle in the organization’s history.

Since moving the weigh-ins to the popular City Centre Mall in downtown Edmonton, fans have turned out in droves to see the MFC’s outstanding lineup of fighters hit the scale. It will be an amazing scene again when the weigh-in for Retribution takes place on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 12:30 p.m. on the Lower Level of City Centre Mall.

That amount of interest and the hype leading into Retribution is sure to make for another very interesting weigh-in, not to mention all the heated exchanges that have been building up this fight card with plenty of direct shots fired off between MFC lightweight champion Antonio McKee and challenger Luciano Azevedo, welterweight rivals Ryan “The Real Deal” Ford and Douglas “The Phenom” Lima, and middleweights combatants Tom “Kong” Watson and Jesse “JT Money” Taylor.

And now the MFC has added a little more punch to the weigh-in for Retribution. The HDNet Fights announce team of “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and Frank “Twinkle Toes” Trigg will be the official masters of ceremonies for the weigh-in. That dynamic duo will then be ringside the next night when MFC 26: Retribution goes live from the River Cree Resort and Casino on HDNet Fights beginning at 10 p.m. ET/8 p.m. MT/7 p.m. PT.
